Today's sure-to-be MAGA mega-outrage.
Jimmy Kimmel canceled taping rather than interview Jake Tapper
by Anonymous | reply 309 | June 1, 2025 12:56 PM |
Good for Kimmel
by Anonymous | reply 1 | May 20, 2025 5:48 PM |
So brave of Jake to go after an octogenarian who stepped down and is currently battling aggressive cancer.
Trump is now attacking Biden and his wife Jill.
That's enough pile-on. Go fuck yourself Jake.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | May 20, 2025 5:52 PM |
Kimmel's a mensch.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | May 20, 2025 5:53 PM |
Jake Crapper sucks
by Anonymous | reply 4 | May 20, 2025 6:05 PM |
Bad look for Kimmel, who will just come off as a pussy and in cahoots with the Biden administration.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | May 20, 2025 6:09 PM |
Ohhh, r5, do you need attention? Is that what you need?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | May 20, 2025 6:12 PM |
Good for Jimmy! We need more people with his kind of courage.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | May 20, 2025 6:13 PM |
I love Kimmel. I have always loved him but now I love him as much as my children...if I had any.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | May 20, 2025 6:16 PM |
R6 - yeah, R5 likes to shit post and criticize. That's all he does in his comments.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | May 20, 2025 6:19 PM |
R5 which he is
by Anonymous | reply 10 | May 20, 2025 6:21 PM |
Jake Tapper has crossed into being the story instead of reporting it. Which means he’s trash (see Gayle King).
Also, that smug, perpetually-smells-a-fart face is so hard to look at.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 20, 2025 6:24 PM |
Sorry. I don't believe Kimmel cancelled a show (and put the entire staff out of pay) over Jake Tapper. He could have just had another guest on or confronted Tapper over his shitty book.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | May 20, 2025 6:35 PM |
Jake Tapper has been MAGA for a long time.
I stopped watching FOX-Lite, CNN, because of commentators such as Tapper. He’s stiff, smug, boring, yaps with an attitude, and is no friend of Democrats.
CNN has regressed even more with their fake “both sides” bullshit.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | May 20, 2025 6:50 PM |
If it is true, I'm glad Jimmy Kimmel did it. Kimmel can afford to pay the entire staff for the day's pay (which he will do).
by Anonymous | reply 14 | May 20, 2025 6:51 PM |
Tapper is doing a hatchet job on Biden. Where is his book on all the corruption of Trump and his administration?
by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 20, 2025 6:56 PM |
R13 - I wouldn't say he's MAGA - he's just a conceited know-it-all, both-sides, I know the REAL story - type of guy.
He needs to be taken down a few pegs. His ego and his smarmy look is off-putting - always has been. I have no idea how this guy got so far.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | May 20, 2025 6:56 PM |
Tapper in his revenge mode is something to behold. He wants to fuck up those libs who cancelled him, and then some.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | May 20, 2025 7:01 PM |
I recall several+ years back, Tapper interviewed Kellyanne Conway. She threw him off his schtick. She can distort, make false claims, dominate the dialogue, interrupt, and divert better than he can. They seemed made for each other.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | May 20, 2025 7:07 PM |
Jake Tapper sucks donkey dicks. No one needs his stupid book,
by Anonymous | reply 19 | May 20, 2025 7:15 PM |
Suddenly MAGAts like Jerk Tapper now that he wrote a hit piece book on Joe Biden? But guess what, they won't BUY it Jake. And neither will the rest of us.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | May 20, 2025 7:23 PM |
In other words, he wrote a book for people who don't read.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | May 20, 2025 7:26 PM |
Is Jake Tapper MAGA?!!!
by Anonymous | reply 22 | May 20, 2025 7:30 PM |
Hey Jimmy, Biden isn’t running again. You can relax. I had no idea Kimmel was such an idiot. Please quit your night job and work for the DNC or better yet, please don’t.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | May 20, 2025 7:33 PM |
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WOULD SOMEBODY PLEASE SHIT IN MY MOUTH???!!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 24 | May 20, 2025 7:37 PM |
Donald Trump makes my hole twitch!!!
by Anonymous | reply 25 | May 20, 2025 7:39 PM |
Yes criticizing Kimmel is a crime against humanity.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | May 20, 2025 7:46 PM |
^ hyperbolizes like an 11 year old girl
by Anonymous | reply 27 | May 20, 2025 7:49 PM |
Kimmel should have continued with the interview and confronted Tapper about withholding the information about Biden so he could later cash in on a book.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | May 20, 2025 7:50 PM |
Tapper was scheduled. In stead Kimmel released a comedy video of himself pretending to broadcast conspiracy theories from his basement. It was kind of funny. He ditched Tapper. Now Tapper seems to be "friends" with Stephen Colbert and he was on his show a short while ago. I was disappointed to find that out. But I agree Tapper is insufferable. He is a snide smug POS know it all. He preens on TV acting like is is the Journalist Supreme because he pisses off everyone in the interests of integrity. But he himself wouldn't recognize integrity if it bit him in his fat ass. The sound of his nasal whining voice is like nails on a chalkboard.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | May 20, 2025 7:54 PM |
Is anything in his book false?
by Anonymous | reply 30 | May 20, 2025 7:58 PM |
No one has challenged the veracity or substance. The reporting is quite solid, whether you like Tapper personally or not. Or his co-author.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | May 20, 2025 8:02 PM |
It is a book needed to be written.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | May 20, 2025 8:10 PM |
How nice, r31.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | May 20, 2025 8:12 PM |
The country is in absolute crisis - yes it is a tale that needs to be told - but for heaven’s sake - this is NOT the right time! Trump is like the monster in the horror movie that they keep shooting and nothing takes him down. This book will just continue to empower maga.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | May 20, 2025 8:16 PM |
Exactly, r34. The *only* people gaining from this are Jake Tapper and the Magats. This isn't one written for the history books. It's coming out now purely for distraction and to benefit Tapper's bank account.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | May 20, 2025 8:23 PM |
That’s a very odd non-reply. If you have substantive objections or contrary information to share, tell us.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | May 20, 2025 8:28 PM |
R5 - Sure, Yuri...I mean Jan.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | May 20, 2025 8:30 PM |
A critical self-examination by the party is one worthwhile result. Another is the press not letting it happen again.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | May 20, 2025 8:34 PM |
R35 when should it have come out? Should it never have come out?
by Anonymous | reply 39 | May 20, 2025 8:36 PM |
The people who “gain” are people interested in the truth (if the book is in fact truthful.)
by Anonymous | reply 40 | May 20, 2025 8:37 PM |
That was stupid. He should have interviewed Tapper and given him a list of all of Trump's outrages and crimes and ask when Tapper will bother to report on those. And keep it on that topic.
I can see why he wouldn't want to give Tapper any free publicity, though. But how hard would it have to make Tapper look like the Trumper he is???
by Anonymous | reply 41 | May 20, 2025 8:41 PM |
I’d feel better about the future of the Democratic Party if people were complaining about the book because it contained falsehoods,
by Anonymous | reply 42 | May 20, 2025 8:54 PM |
[quote]The people who “gain” are people interested in the truth (if the book is in fact truthful.)
And if it isn't, r42?
r39, fine, what are you going to do with that information now? Protest? Write an angry letter? Continue to bitch and moan on DL? Let the historians deal with it. The rational among us prefer to direct our energies in fighting the *real* enemy in front of us. Whatever diminishment of Joe's faculties there were, his accomplishments in his term were historic. You can rehash it all you want, but at this point it's just being used as a distraction.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | May 20, 2025 9:09 PM |
This is no different from Civil War reenactors still trying to strategize a way to win a battle long lost.
It’s over. Move on.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | May 20, 2025 9:19 PM |
That sound is thoughtful analysis speeding past your head.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | May 20, 2025 9:19 PM |
R43 so far no one is complaining that the book is not accurate or contains falsehoods except for Jill. . It’s not a good look for democrats to be seen as the ones trying to hide the truth from the American people.
The American people have a right to know.
Maybe we should be angry this book for not published 18 months earlier. If it had maybe biden drops out much earlier and trump would not be president today..
by Anonymous | reply 46 | May 20, 2025 9:21 PM |
What is the book a distraction from? How horrible Trump? Yes, Americans are not sufficiently informed as to how bad Trump is. if only the media keep them more informed about the bad stuff he does, they’d wake up and vote blue! Or maybe Democrats are disconnected from many voters and are disliked as much as Trump. Could that be it??.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | May 20, 2025 9:25 PM |
[quote]It’s not a good look for democrats to be seen as the ones trying to hide the truth from the American people.
God forbid we should have *that*, r46.
Hint: Attempt more subterfuge in your trolling.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | May 20, 2025 9:28 PM |
A lot of people are saying it’s lies. It’s all anonymous sources. And whatever is in the book isn’t something the CURRENT president hasn’t done and worse.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | May 20, 2025 9:29 PM |
And the main reason Democrats are disliked as much as Trump is because they are so weak and timid.
Look at Cory Booker. Voted for forward Jared Kushner's criminal father as Ambassador to France.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | May 20, 2025 9:32 PM |
True or not true - Who gives a flying fuck??? And why did he sit on this BEARKING news for a year? So he could sell books, not so he could be a journalist. He's now got all of Maga world demanding an investigation into crooked Joe.
Joe had an entourage of people who guarded his privacy?!!! Who they tried to shield from the public???!! Knock me over with a feather, I betcha no other President has ever done this before. Fuck him and the MAGA he rode in on
by Anonymous | reply 51 | May 20, 2025 9:39 PM |
R48 not trolling at all. If this book had been done earlier then Joe does not run a second time and maybe the Dems have a real primary and they win.
The truth coming out is not the problem it should have come out much earlier. Maybe Trump would not be president today.
Biden was not served well
by Anonymous | reply 52 | May 20, 2025 9:44 PM |
R51 the authors (there are two) didn’t sit on it for a year. The primary sources came out of the woodwork full force after the election. And there lies the rub—it’s the nature of our system. The hope is that we remember, lest we are condemned to repeat.
Did you object to Michael Wolff or Bob Woodward (and Bernstein) sitting on their books? And so on?
by Anonymous | reply 53 | May 20, 2025 9:52 PM |
R53 yes yes yes.
This book is full of lies and our current president is the one they are covering up his drug abuse, and his cognitive decline. That’s the REAL story.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | May 20, 2025 10:04 PM |
Peace be with you…you seem to need it.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | May 20, 2025 10:06 PM |
They’re not lies—
by Anonymous | reply 56 | May 20, 2025 10:07 PM |
Lies..and who gives a fat fuck when the current president is far worse cognitively.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | May 20, 2025 10:38 PM |
Team Kimmel
by Anonymous | reply 58 | May 20, 2025 11:31 PM |
The posters on this thread defending Tapper and his cohort are unwittingly part of the propaganda machine that's been trashing Biden for almost 3 years. This is not about history. This is about opportunism. And the complete, total lack of balanced reporting about Trump is so transparently obvious it is sickening to me how many people fall for this crap. Donald Trump has been an incoherent mess who watches TV when he finally comes down tohis office after noon most days. The photo ops with his executive orders are a complete scam. His lack of basic knowledge and his encouraging violence and perpetuating division and hatred, violating the Constitution, etc. and the have done NOTHING about it. Without the media's collusion Trump could have never become President.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | May 20, 2025 11:42 PM |
R59 BINGO BINGO BINGO BINGO
The media has fallen.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | May 20, 2025 11:46 PM |
Going on and on about Trump really doesn’t support your argument that one couldn’t possibly criticize Biden for…anything. We are not in this situation because two guys wrote a book which, by all accounts, is a truthful post-mortem on 2024. Blaming the messenger in post after post is not a good look on you.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | May 20, 2025 11:48 PM |
Forget Tapper, Kimmel may interview Lindsey Graham instead about her book.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | May 20, 2025 11:48 PM |
Fine, r52, continue posting your ifs, might haves, should haves and maybes. Again, the rational among us are dealing with the now.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | May 20, 2025 11:50 PM |
^ which does not negate the value of the information in the book. Two things can be correct at the same time. How can you rationally deal with “the now”without examining “the then.”
by Anonymous | reply 64 | May 20, 2025 11:55 PM |
R61, who says it's truthful? People have already claimed that things in the book are lies
by Anonymous | reply 65 | May 20, 2025 11:58 PM |
Jake Tapper loves racist, homophobic Megyn Kelly

by Anonymous | reply 67 | May 21, 2025 12:01 AM |
This book would be important or even relevant if Biden had run. He dropped out of the fucking race so who gives a shit?
by Anonymous | reply 68 | May 21, 2025 12:03 AM |
Why did Kimmel book him in the first place?
by Anonymous | reply 69 | May 21, 2025 12:06 AM |
the story has completely shifted ... Tappers book seems dead in the water
The public now is going to want to know results and timeline of all the cancer tests Biden had.....
and if they weren't given, why the hell not?
by Anonymous | reply 70 | May 21, 2025 12:09 AM |
It was before they made the cancer announcement, r69.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | May 21, 2025 12:10 AM |
Jimmy Kimmel is dead to me. I blame him for part of the reason Trump won. Kimmel "normalized" all the Trump behavior by constant monologue jokes and humor.
Oh look... he's thinking of raising tarrifs by 145% - can you believe it?.... the last time I saw that... fuck you Jimmy Kimmel
by Anonymous | reply 72 | May 21, 2025 12:15 AM |
[quote]He dropped out of the fucking race so who gives a shit?
Well, he was President for 4 years.
Every President gets a slew of books about their Presidency after their term ends.
Why shouldn't Biden?
by Anonymous | reply 73 | May 21, 2025 12:22 AM |
Biden will get many books written about his Presidency. Unfortunately, the way he left will be a major part of the story. I’d be even more interested to see the books written about Jill.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | May 21, 2025 12:28 AM |
Here are books about Trump's first term.
Funny some here think Biden should be immune.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | May 21, 2025 12:32 AM |
Trump is the current cognitively impaired mentally deranged president. Biden dropped out so who gives a fuck if he was declining at the end of his term. The American people still voted for an adjudicated rapist 35 time convicted felon pussy grabbing career criminal pathological lying con artist. he’s actually the president right now. That should be the story right now. Not what the last president did. We have a president who is so mentally impaired. He can’t string together two words that makes sense. And you want us to be concerned about the former president? I don’t fucking think so.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | May 21, 2025 12:54 AM |
It would matter if we actually had a normal president right now. We don’t so it doesn’t.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | May 21, 2025 12:55 AM |
“The American people still voted for an adjudicated rapist 35 time convicted felon pussy grabbing career criminal pathological lying con artist.”
Thanks, in a significant part, to the events described in the book.

R72, you're thinking of Jimmy Fallon. Kimmel has been straight up vicious to Trump and I loved every minute of it
by Anonymous | reply 79 | May 21, 2025 12:58 AM |
R78 no ma’am. No ma’am. The American voters are racist, misogynistic and homophobic. That has nothing to do with Joe Biden. This is all on this stupid dumb fuck American voters. And no one else.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | May 21, 2025 12:58 AM |
The American voters were given a perfectly fine alternative to a psychopath and they chose white male over colored lady. End of story. Nothing else matters.

Why? Why “should” we know what’s in the book? It’s over. Biden is dying. Let it go.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | May 21, 2025 1:52 AM |
Yeah, R92… let’s continue the coverup. That’s smart…
by Anonymous | reply 93 | May 21, 2025 1:54 AM |
The problem is one of the most scandal free administrations of all time has perhaps a “cover-up” about Biden supposed decline instead of just being normal old age and it’s treated as a tea pot dome type scandal. It’s treated more seriously than the actual cognitive decline and mental derangement of our current president. That’s where we have the issue. If we had a normal president in office right now go for it write all the tell alls you want, but to pretend this is some huge scandal is preposterous.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | May 21, 2025 1:55 AM |
If it had been treated seriously then, Crump wouldn’t be president now.

Supposed decline?
And: "perhaps a "cover-up""?
With the word cover-up in quotations?
Try harder R94.
by Anonymous | reply 98 | May 21, 2025 2:10 AM |
R95 Bullshit. STFU. this is fully on the American voter. It’s not our fault that we nominated the best candidate and the voters chose a complete psychopath rather than a lady of color. We saw this with Hillary as well. Are you pissed that we tried? I’m sorry I don’t give a fuck. The voters are the ones to blame only only only.
by Anonymous | reply 99 | May 21, 2025 2:13 AM |
R98 Yeah. He was an older guy. He was more frail. But we saw his convention speech. We saw his state of the union speech and he was sharp and on it. All of this is just a concerted effort to rewrite history to put blame where it doesn’t belong.

by Anonymous | reply 120 | May 21, 2025 3:42 AM |
Yeah, right, blame Jill, blame Joe, blame his staff, blame the voters, blah, blah, blah. All this finger pointing and yet somehow you fail to fully appreciate, or you have ignored, or you are too obtuse to understand the willful, deliberate collusion of the corporate media in aiding and abetting the election of Trump. Constant talk of a "possible recession" that never materialized, and the strongest economy in the world in spite of a manageable inflation that was hyped relentlessly by the media who read from GOP talking points unedited. The complete lack of anything resembling balanced coverage and the free pass Trump always gets helped to instill fear and division in voters, low information voters
I'm pissed off at Joe. But not just because Joe dropped out so late. Joe got some pretty important stuff wrong. When Obama was POTUS he showcased Joe. He made sure Joe was present, engaged and highly visible as an active working partner. Joe traveled all over the country, got photo ops, and was out here selling the President's policies and programs. Obama had the grace and generosity to do that. But neither Joe nor his staff promoted Kamala. For nearly two years she was nearly invisible. And here again, the media did us no favors. When she was covered she was subject to derision by the Media. Only after Joe dropped out did we discover how vital she was and how she traveled extensively and was engaged when it came to foreign policy, and foreign leaders. Her value was never fully credited. Not by the Bidens, their staff or the Media. On twitter, I saw her t raveling to college campuses and other gatherings and the turnout was very impressive. But it was never covered by the corporate media.
The other thing that pisses me off, and I will never get over is the complete lack of urgency in addressing a fucking insurrection. January 6th 2021 was a shameful, terrible day. Neither Joe Biden nor his AG, Merrick Garland seemed to feel it was urgent to prosecute or to act. We had 147 members of Congress who refused to accept the election results...after the insurrection. We had Trump traveling all over the place insisting for three damned years that the election was stolen. It was shameful. And it rests on the doorstep of Joe Biden. Congress would have acted. He could have called for a special prosecutor and a commission to handle hearings, arrests and prosecutions of EVERYONE involved. Instead he acted like it never happened. But in this book, Jake Tapper is simply trumpeting the GOP's strategy and talking points. The intrinsic historic value of anything in this book is pretty damned thin. Tapper is a whore. He stopped being a journalist years ago.

Isn’t it the usual practice that if someone like Jake Tapper who is a news anchor / commentator who has a fixed news show - shouldn’t he have taken a leave of absence if he wanted to promote this book? George Stephanopolis is a writer - in a million years the network would not have allowed him to be on GMA and hawk an anti Biden ( or anti Trump book ) while he was still an anchor. Writing about LBJ, Watergate, the history of the FBI, the Cuban Missle Crises ok. But the people who Tapper is writing about are past and future guests of his show and our political future. By referring to it as a coverup he is casting a shadow of doubt over the democrats that we need to fight against Trump. Look at all of these spineless republican assholes voting on the middle of the night tonight covering for and lying for Trump. Jake Tapper’s smug and casual attack on the Biden administration a mere 100 days after it is over makes me sick.

R75 Democrats are hypocrites.
They don't want balanced reporting, just for the news to always say good things about Democrats and bad things about Republicans.
They used to get away with it when the liberal legacy media (TV, film, radio, newspapers, magazines) was relevant and influential.
But nowadays social media has thrown them for a loop, because they can't control the narrative anymore and it bugs the fuck out of them.
Also, social media is proving Democrats to be un-American and anti-USA and very emotionally unstable!
The future looks grim for the party and liberalism in general.

I'm halfway through the book. I didn't pay for it.
Not surprisingly the writing is clunky and repetitious. I admit to enjoying the gossip.
Basically the book argues that Biden's health issues were apparent and concerning through his entire first term but his inner circle refused any discussion of the subject. His closest aids were more like family members and circled the wagons when it came to suggestions that Biden's constant stepping on rakes, poor stamina, poor memory, incoherent speeches indicated he was in bad shape.. Four of Biden's closest advisors were the only people Biden listened to. People in his administration said they were basically running the country. Obama said he thought Biden's long term advisors were not politically astute.
The book goes on and on in this forensic vein, how Dems like Nancy Pelosi were shielded from Biden's decline and since his record so far was strong there was little reason to dump him. And the point was made that Washington has a history of protecting incapacitated senators and even Presidents.. (Was Kennedy really high on drugs during the Bay of Pigs crisis?)
Whether any of these disclosures, assuming they're an accurate picture of Biden's term are 'lessons' for the Dems, not sure what hose wold be. Don't pick an old guy next time? This is not the first book on the subject btw and they all say the same thing. Biden was surrounded buy enablers who kept his secrets. We get it.

Reagan had Alzheimer's when he was President. Woodrow Wilson was rendered unconscious from a massive stroke, for months. Tapper's faux outrage pisses me off. It's not only Joe Biden's fault we have Trump for President. Tapper and the Media deserve more responsibility than they're willing to accept. Tapper would rather distract us than face that truth. He had a pit in his stomach about having to go thru with the Tapper interview. His daughter going into labor gave him the perfect, acceptable excuse to get out of it. He took it as fate.
I'm fine with the decision. He can always reschedule Tapper, and choose to go after Tapper's decision to write the book if he wants to. The ratings will be even higher.

The amount of whataboutism on this thread is hilarious.
Jake’s book is only about ONE aspect of the Biden’s presidency — the obvious cover-up of Biden’s mental and physical collapse. If the media had been honest and transparent about his condition much earlier, we probably wouldn’t be in the position we’re in right now. And in regards to Biden’s stage 5 horrible cancer, which was announced right before the release of this book, there are only two possible scenarios. One: that somehow, incredibly, this aggressive cancer went totally unnoticed by the health care providers for the President of the United States for the past few years. Or two: They knew about it and chose to hide it from the public. Which one is more believable at this point? You don’t suddenly get cancer that bad in a matter of 200 days. Could White House doctors be so incompetent to not catch that?

There is absolutely no proof Joe shit on the floor at any time. He did G7 and he did the NATO stuff and he met with Zelenskyy. Of course he had lapses. He is old. But believe me he was not the only POTUS who's had lapses. He's definitely not the only POTUS who's staff has "shielded him. Remember. The Media has demonstrated they're very selective in who t hey decide to trash. I have no problem with an examination of the competencies of our leaders. But let's do a real examination. Let's include Trump. Let's count the many times the Media turned a blind eye to the Bushes. Or Reagan. Does anyone here remember Silverado Savings and Loan..... There's a lot of reasons we are in this fix. And right now we can't afford to be lazy and careless in our thinking. It would be so easy to over simplify.

R225 Well said. The media is on a rampage like I have never seen in their quest to go after Biden with everything they have. It’s really shocking. It’s shocking because of our current president.
I don’t care what the Democratic Party’s polling is right now. It’s going to change. We all know what the agenda is some of the posters here. And it’s not the well-being of the Democratic Party.
The corporate media is an absolute threat to our country right now.

“This isn’t a conversation about Biden’s health. It’s about how silence—among Democratic leaders and much of the press—denied voters a competitive primary and may have helped pave the way for Trump’s return to power. Rather than litigating the past, Phillips proposes structural reforms to ensure something like this never happens again. I hope you’ll watch with an open mind.”

This is a typical propaganda device: Trump and his Congress, aided and abetted by his Neo Nazi staff of enablers is persuading us, the voters, the public, that the dismantling of our democracy, the thugs from ICE arresting innocent people including Judges while they are sitting in court, and the canceling of various research programs, and funding for institutions and universities, and crippling Medicaid, and flagrant violations of the First Amendment, and intimidating the SCOTUS, defying court orders, etc. is Joe Biden's fault.. They're distracting us to focus on Biden while they shit all over the floors. This is not unusual. It is a common strategy ploy. Blame the other guy. But what's unique about their tactics, is how they're going about it.
by Anonymous | reply 239 | May 22, 2025 3:42 PM |
I think one of the reasons this has gotten so out of control is very simple: most of us on the left deplore violence. We hate instigating it. We hate being he victim of it.

by Anonymous | reply 246 | May 23, 2025 10:19 AM |
R246 The coverage was different this time. Dotard was saying extremely incoherent things, had super low energy, and was proposing dangerous things such as P2025. That’s why you see idiots saying, “I didn’t know this” or “I didn’t sign up for this”. Showing a weak, incoherent candidate might’ve made the difference.

But Tapper was insisting the Biden was of sound mind and just had a stutter and now writes this book about cognitive decline? I'm not understanding any of this. And Kimmel was crying when Trump won. Once men would rage, But he dissolves in tears. What an asshole. And The Man Show should cause him deep eternal shame with no let up. This was no satire(like he explains it now,) it was truly a disgusting and cynical way to make his name and money. Then his co-host goes total MAGA and is seldom seen. But Kimmel knew what side his bread was buttered on. Nothing more than an affable celebrity creep.
by Anonymous | reply 248 | May 23, 2025 10:46 AM |
I read the book. It made me furious…not at Biden but at Tapper. I read it because I’m interested in what happened to get us into this mess so I was open to hearing some Biden bashing.
Tapper takes criticism of Biden to an almost comic extreme. I can’t think of any positive thing he wrote about him. He takes an entire chapter on Hunter’s gun trial. Compares Biden unfavorably to Trump throughout the book. It’s a complete hatchet job with zero balance.
His sources are Dems in leadership so they don’t get hit badly. His focus is Joe, Jill, Hunter and Joe’s staff.
Joe made a tragic decision to run in 2024 and there’s plenty of evidence to suggest his circle knew he wasn’t up to it. we’re all suffering the consequences for that terrible decision. But Tapper doesn’t take a measure examination of what led to that decision. It’s basically Biden crime family bullshit and Jill as Lady MacBeth.
by Anonymous | reply 249 | May 23, 2025 10:47 AM |
There was no tragic decision. America had a perfectly fine alternative to Dotard. America had a clear choice and they gladly chose psychopathy. There’s nothing left to discuss. Dotard was in clear cognitive decline and proposing radical, dangerous policies. Americans said, “Yes, I want that. Thank you!”
It is as basic as that.

Books about Trump are out here. And their authors do the usual talk shows and interviews promoting them. But none of them have received the kind of hype and saturation coverage Tapper's hatchet job on Biden has. The contrast is pretty remarkable, pretty obvious. The Media corporate offices decide how some thing is covered. And Tapper's is a really shit book. It reminds me of how the film industry markets bad movies. They hype it relentlessly for weeks even months out, and make it seem like the event of the decade, because word of mouth and critics will let people know the movie is crap. So get that opening weekend box office and hope you can sell it to streaming.

by Anonymous | reply 257 | May 23, 2025 5:00 PM |
Nixon was a fucking criminal who abused power using federal agencies and White house staff to do it, then he broke the law lying to cover it up and he was forced out of office by Congress who were going through the legally prescribed Constitutional process of impeachment and Senate trial. When Members of his own party, Barry Goldwater , and several others visited him at the White House and told him he did not have the votes and would be convicted in a Senate Trial, he resigned, and was pardoned by Ford. The only thing Biden and Nixon have in common is they both served in the Senate, they were both VPs and they were both elected POTUS. Period. As for the Media back in the 70's, The reason the Congress set up hearings and initiated an investigation into Watergate, which was the tip of the proverbial iceberg. is because the press, primarily the Washington Post investigated Watergate and REPORTED IT in the daily newspaper. Seymour Hersh of the NYT finally got on the buss and began publishing stories too. They didn't hold back the information and wait to write a book. They reported it when it happened.
by Anonymous | reply 258 | May 23, 2025 6:03 PM |
In this case no one wanted to talk until after the election. That’s on the sources, not on the reporters. The info in the book came from people who said nothing while it was happening.

by Anonymous | reply 261 | May 23, 2025 6:28 PM |
R259, no one in the Nixon White House, or various departments would talk. None. The reporters got the story because they went through his re election campaign staffers, because they went to court when the burglars were being charged, because they had a leak in the FBI who was talking about Howard Hunt and the "Plumbers." They had a huge problem with people not willing to go on the record. So no one was willing to talk to the Post or the NYT. But they were able to dig out the story of how the Nixon WH was using the CIA contractors and the IRS and the re election campaign slush fund to finance dirty tricks and other illegal activities and using the Campaign Finance chair as a bag man with a slush fund to finance illegal activities. The other thing Nixon and Biden had in common is that no one in the inner circle or the WH staff talked.

It is what it is.
by Anonymous | reply 277 | May 24, 2025 10:00 AM |
Biden’s decision-making to run before the 2024 primaries was delusional rather than sinister. Jill and family were apparently urging him to run and so did several of his close top aides, apparently tor their own career and financial self-interests. The public wasn’t highly alarmed about Biden’s alleged dementia until his disastrous debate performance vs Trump. Whether or not Biden had a cognitive evaluation by his physicians just prior to the campaign is unclear.
Maybe some political cohorts were urging Biden early, not to run. Biden can be stubborn, enjoyed being President, convinced himself he could win again, and was overtly dismissive of claims he was in mental decline.
The failure was timing. He should have exited before the primary season started, or better yet, stuck to his original stance of not seeking a second term.
Nevertheless, it was the media and the sorry ass electorate that cost the Democrats. Harris ran a decent campaign. Like anyone, she made a few mistakes, but delivered a gallant effort for the short time she headed the ticket.

I hate to be repetitious, but We knew Biden was old in 2020. We had an insurrection led by Trump in 2021, January 6th. Biden and his staff failed at two things, IMO. He failed to highlight and promote his VP, instead made her invisible for 2 and a half years or more. And even more important, he failed to vigorously prosecute the insurrectionists including members of Congress and Trump himself. The hearings Pelosi and Congress finally conducted were necessary so people could appreciate the full scope of the planning for the insurrection. But those hearings should have happened by March or April of 2021. And they should have had the White House on board. Garland was a fucking disaster as AG. The entire matter of investigating and prosecuting the January 6th gang should have been done by a separate Special Commission with a Special Prosecutor and it should have been done simultaneously in all 50 states.
Joe had choices to make. He chose to look forward and try to unify Congress to get his legislative program passed. He chose to leave the investigating to Garland. Looking forward and unifying is a good thing. But you ought to be able to chew gum and skip rope at the same time. If he had removed t he Investigation and set up a special commission, etc. And the hearings were national he could have still got his agenda passed. Failing to promote his successor did all of us serious damage. The so called Jake Tapper "cover up" was t he least of it. Having a less than competent POTUS with a great staff of brilliant professionals is not unusual. We have had "lightweights" in t hat office before. Jow was no lightweight. He was just a tired old man who had an outdated perspective on how to address the current mess and that was a major failing.

by Anonymous | reply 286 | May 28, 2025 4:06 PM |
Trump should be in prison right now along with the main planners and financers of his insurrection. The Election deniers in Congress and holding offices in state governments should have been imprisoned where appropriate and all of them banned from holding any public office in the future. Biden and Garland own this.

R285 here. I'm no "Mighty Joe" lover. I said in my post one of his main failings was not promoting his VP from the start. And of course fucking up the prosecution and imprisonment of Trump and his election deniers and insurrectionists. All the people who wring their hands about Trump and blame the Biden "cover up" IMO are missing several key points. Trump should be in prison not in the Oval office. Biden was wrong to run for a second term. Totally wrong. And Harris would have been in a stronger position if we had had four years to get to know her and see her being "Presidential." I will add that since Tapper, a so-called journalist, has stepped out here people need to hold the Media accountable for their role in helping Trump get elected. Because, IMO, the whole "How could we have let this happen?" question is not simply about a cover up.

Make no mistake, the reason Trump won, in the simplest terms, is because Biden held on too long and wasn't honest about his health even with himself, apparently, and didn't announce his intention to step down after one term, allowing an open primary to happen well in advance of the party's convention.
Instead Dems propped him up like a long Weekend at Bernie's, their online operatives flooded us with tales of "Mighty Joe Biden," while those of us with functioning brain cells looked on in horror.
Yes, I know. I'm "MAGA," but I'm actually a staunch Democrat who's voted the ticket in every election since 1988. If those of your with your heads up Biden's ass (for god knows what reason at this point) don't start considering the opinions of people like me, your fellow Democrats, Trump and his followers will continue to win and Dems will be lost to the ash heap of history.
