Are we being visited by creatures from outer space?
I do but do not think we have ever experienced anything more than a close encounter of the first kind: sighting.

The [Bold]Fermi paradox[/Bold] is the discrepancy between the lack of conclusive evidence of advanced extraterrestrial life and the apparently high likelihood of its existence. Those affirming the paradox generally conclude that if the conditions required for life to arise from non-living matter are as permissive as the available evidence on Earth indicates, then extraterrestrial life would be sufficiently common such that it would be implausible for it not to have been detected.
This is what I believe. I suppose there is the possibility that there is intelligent life elsewhere but they, like we, are stymied by space travel or, went extinct before they could become known to other civilizations or develop into a spacefaring race.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | May 20, 2025 12:47 AM |
I have this theory-while-high that the UFOs were here and gone already. Too many of the myths and folklore and religious tales of the ancient past have similarities. Our own bible is a ollection of myths and folklore. But as I look at the pyramids and the ancient Egyptian "gods" with their odd animal heads and human bodies, and I read Greek mythology about how Zeus would come down and mate with some young girl, or any number of other stories from other cultures in other times, I am convinced they were here, they dropped us off and the ancients were communicating with them for a while and then they left and we're still waiting for their return.

Why did the DoD release those weird videos?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | May 20, 2025 12:51 AM |
It’s not what the creationists thought it would be, but isn’t that just how life goes?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | May 20, 2025 12:51 AM |
Given the number of stars in our galaxy alone, it is foolish to believe that life didn't develop on thousands of worlds if not millions.
As R4 mentions though, we are all bound by physics. Communication between worlds is highly unlikely and travel almost certainly impossible.
Kind of depressing but there it is.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | May 20, 2025 1:17 AM |
I don't have an opinion on whether extraterrestrial life is zipping around in vehicles above our heads.
I'm too pre-occupied with amazement that life on Earth exists.
After all, Earth is just moist and dusty quark on a quark in the vast Universe of Time, Space and Matter.
And here we are. It blows my mind.

Well R8 then who is flying the freaking tic tacs??
by Anonymous | reply 10 | May 20, 2025 1:18 AM |
Here's the thing. "Life" on other planets in other solar systems is definitely possible, but the conditions necessary to sustain that life, alien life forms, may be entirely different than what we think is necessary to sustain life.

by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 20, 2025 1:50 AM |
That little Mars rover thing could have been taking pictures of "life" and not even know it.
The problem is traveling faster than the speed of light. We gotta figure that shit out.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | May 20, 2025 1:57 AM |
Speaking of traveling at the speed of light, I think it’s funny to think that if Jesus had been traveling at the speed of light during his ascension to heaven, he wouldn’t have even left our galaxy yet.

by Anonymous | reply 18 | May 20, 2025 2:14 AM |
OP, UFO does not mean aliens. It simply means that you can’t identify something. UFOs exist. It doesn’t mean creatures from outer space.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | May 20, 2025 2:20 AM |
Why would they bother with us? If they have the technology to buzz around our skies we are practically neanderthal
by Anonymous | reply 20 | May 20, 2025 2:40 AM |
We have not been visited by aliens not only because of the vast distances making it more difficult, but the vastness of time making it impossible.
The genus Homo, that’s to say, intelligent life, have only been on Earth for a tiny fraction of it’s existence, and from all available evidence, we’re quickly on our way to extinction because we’re making it uninhabitable. If we set the Earth aboil, it will be the sixth or seventh time that a mass extinction event has happened here.
All of this is to say, yes, there is almost certainly intelligent life elsewhere. Yes, they may have tried to travel or signal to others they were there. But no, because of the vastness of geological time scales and the apparent shortness of species existence, there is probably no one else out there close enough to matter when your intellect life form happens to exist.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | May 20, 2025 2:59 AM |
It’s clear that there is other intelligent life and that we’re not alone. As to where it originates from I don’t know. We may have been sharing this planet all along.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | May 20, 2025 3:10 AM |
Maybe aliens use their physicists for better stuff than we do, and can reach us!
by Anonymous | reply 24 | May 20, 2025 3:11 AM |
I kind of think I saw one as a kid. But I also have trouble believing intelligent alien life has been visiting this planet at least for decades and have done nothing other than fly around and sexually assault rednecks. So somewhere in-between belief and scepticism I guess.

If UFOs / UAPs aren't aliens, which government has the technology but is only testing it and not using it? Why have high-level officials stated we have recovered craft with aliens?

by Anonymous | reply 28 | May 20, 2025 5:35 AM |
I believe in an intelligent aliens, but I'm not sure they've ever visited us. I think a species that's capable of interstellar travel would be able to observe humans without a pilot catching them on film.

Jacques Vallée studied UFOs more than anyone else and he believes that they are interdimensional and not extraterrestrial in origin. Here is an interview he gave in 1986. I highly recommend his books too.

There are, I don't know, around 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 planets in our universe.
I find it highly unlikely -- nigh impossible -- that not a single one of those other planets has evolved intelligent life.
Do I believe they have visited Earth in flying saucers?
Hardly.

R20 In Shirley Maclaine's 1983 book "Out On A Limb" she describes a trip to a small village in Peru in the 70s and how the locals told her that the UFOs are here to mine minerals. Just like we need minerals for our technology, well so do they.

Hunny I think they came here a long time ago and dropped us off, or something that evolved into us, and then they left. Look at the ancient civilizations and look at the discoveries recently where they have to keep revising the dates of certain discoveries. For example, the Egyptians. Now they have been waiting for the Aliens to return for millenia. For what ever reason, they never did come back. Oh, maybe they did recon once in a while, but who knows, right?

The leader of the team that discovered the alleged Baltic Sea Anomaly, together with astronomer Beatriz Villarroel, who searches for "objects and extraterrestrial artifacts," announced they will release a white paper so impactful that it perhaps "should not be revealed to humanity."
He said: “It’s so overwhelming, it’s completely insane, it’s hard to process.” “I understand why this information shouldn’t be disclosed to humanity.”
What could it be?

[quote]We have not been visited by aliens not only because of the vast distances making it more difficult, but the vastness of time making it impossible.
Sure but look at this from outside our limited, earthling perspective. Humans in our current form have only been around for about 200,000 years, and human civilization for maybe 12,000 years. Our first powered flight was just 122 years ago. Just 66 years later we were walking on the moon and flying on Concorde.
What if there is a civilization out there that is a million years old? Just imagine how advanced they would be. Even without solving for the vast distances (ie. some kind of warp drive to shorten the travel time), the could have sent out millions of AI-powered probes to all corners of the galaxy, over the span of hundreds of thousands of years. Eventually at least some could therefore find their way here, especially if the aliens sent them in the direction of planets and stars likely to harbour life. Hell, even our primitive James Webb Telescope has been able to detect signs of life in a planet more than 100 light years way. Imagine the kind of planet-finding technology a 1,000,000 year-old civilization would have.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | July 25, 2025 3:21 PM |

I'm currently reading the book "UFO of God: The Extraordinary True Story of Chris Bledsoe." I'm only on page 40 so the aliens haven't showed up yet. Has anyone read this book or seen the documentary?
It's about a man who was abducted by a UFO. These entities healed him of Crohn's disease, he can now heal people because of the power "they" gave him and he is visited frequently by orbs.
