Tim Walz was on tv widely every day from his nomination until the election. I felt he was very direct in his speech and held nothing back.

I remember the focus on his weeping son. and his achievement of tampons in the boy’s bathrooms. That’s quite the winner in attracting male votes. Walz can run his own race now and needn’t worry about overshadowing Harris. Maybe he can come across as more alpha and less goofy.

There really was no way Harris could beat Trump but she still made so many bad choices. Since she’s kind of a nobody she couldn’t pick a charismatic VP but Walz was really a bad choice.

Dem apologists are trying to rewrite history but there was so much optimism and excitement after Biden dropped out and she had a period of polling lead beyond MoE at one point. Tim Walz's correct framing of right wing nuts as weirdos put Republicans on the back foot for the first time in years. There was hope in the air for the first time in what felt like forever. Her early days as the candidate felt like Obama in '08, with the much needed sense of hope and change in grim times. R59, that a Republican - any Republican - won the popular vote tells you a lot about how doomed Harris’s chances were. I just saw a CNN interview with a 55-year old Pennsylvania man who voted for the FIRST time last year. As much as he repels the non-“poorly educated,” Trump has some magical appeal to too many Americans. While I’m entirely bleak about the American experiment, I’m grateful that it is most likely (this) Trump will never be on the ballot again.

These are people who can’t even count the ingredients in their lunch.

By never separating herself from Biden in any way, Harris was doomed. I doubt anything but internal issues mainly inflation affected the election. Trump did very well among younger voters and POC who supposedly would be the ones most affected by events in Gaza.

Even - a belated - separation by a sitting vice president from an unpopular president isn’t going to lead to victory.
