New limited series about Madonna in the work for Netflix, to be directed by Shawn Levy

The photo of her at the link is pretty scary.

Hagiography incoming.

I want to see her biopic after she dies, unsanctioned by her estate. Those are always the most interesting and usually also the closest to the truth.

Let's cast!

Miles Teller as Sean Penn

Bella Ramsey as Rosie O'Donnell

Daniel Radcliffe as Herb Ritts

Jaden Smith as Jean-Michel Basquiat

by Anonymousreply 2May 12, 2025 7:03 PM

Something tells me we're not going to hear a lot of truth or 'the other side of the story'.

by Anonymousreply 3May 12, 2025 7:04 PM

Say what you want, but she's had an interesting life.

I'll watch.

by Anonymousreply 4May 12, 2025 7:06 PM

I think she'll be very candid. She's not above making herself look less than perfect. Many of you accept autobiographies from stars you like. I know many of you hate Madonna, not sure why, but I think we'll get closer to the truth than not.

I'm really thinking this could be one of the most interesting bios ever. Her life is jam packed with everything you could ask for in a drama.

Photo isn't bad at all.

I saw her up close at her last tour. Other than her hands and triceps, she looked great in the face and most of her body looked exceptional.

by Anonymousreply 6May 13, 2025 5:48 PM

Millie Bobby Brown as the lady herself (at all ages)

by Anonymousreply 7May 13, 2025 5:55 PM

Katya from Drag Race as Sandra Bernhard

[quote] Photo isn't bad at all.

But then again there's the evidence of my eyes, which reveal her to be haggard, with artificially over-enhanced cheekbones, and lips artific-ally over-plumped to the size of Lisa Rinna's.

She looks like a monstrous cartoon.

by Anonymousreply 9May 13, 2025 6:16 PM

Other than the ridiculous grill, I thought she looked halfway normal at The Met Gala. I’d love to see Sky Ferreira play her. Madonna interviewed her but she didn’t make the cut.

Madonna looks good for someone in her 60s. Most white women in their 60s look far worse than she does....which is unexpected considering Madonna's bank account(s).

by Anonymousreply 11May 13, 2025 6:52 PM

Who is this marketed to ? Young people barely know nor give a shit who she is . Older people like myself who loved her for decades are way past tired of her ridiculous antics . So who is this for ?

by Anonymousreply 12May 13, 2025 6:54 PM

In terms of daily streams on Spotify, Madonna is in the top 250 of artists generally. So she's not as unpopular as some here think. She gets more daily streams than Whitney, Celine, the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, U2, etc.

by Anonymousreply 13May 13, 2025 6:59 PM

Madonna needs to give up on this unless it is just a documentary, but even then her time would be better spent making a new album that actually has good songwriting and potential hits, something she hasn't done successfully for a long time now. Any kind of documentary at this point, or even a dramatized biopic, is going to seem a bit funereal regarding her career. She's had too many "dings" in recent years for it to be perceived otherwise.

by Anonymousreply 14May 13, 2025 7:15 PM

R12 What a dumbfuck thing to say. Stay triggered, cunt.

It’ll be massively popular.

by Anonymousreply 15May 14, 2025 2:14 AM

Save it Hagdonna . You have been yesterdays news for 20 years .

by Anonymousreply 16May 14, 2025 4:33 PM

Will there be a S2????

by Anonymousreply 17May 14, 2025 4:53 PM

I’ll watch it

by Anonymousreply 18May 14, 2025 4:54 PM

It's titled Nonna.

by Anonymousreply 19May 14, 2025 4:55 PM

Great casting r8

by Anonymousreply 20May 14, 2025 4:55 PM

MaNonna

by Anonymousreply 21May 14, 2025 4:57 PM

ROARING SUCCESS! Bigger Box Office than even W.E.

by Anonymousreply 22May 14, 2025 5:31 PM

I think she should do a fantasy mockumentary something like what Weird Al did, and have a series of performers, male, female and otherwise identifying, portray her in different phases of her career.

by Anonymousreply 23May 14, 2025 7:13 PM

People were comparing her to Diana Ross, who looked amazing and younger than her at 81!!! I guess it’s either have a face like a blowfish with fillers or her actual grandma face. She has lost almost everything that made her attractive.

by Anonymousreply 24May 14, 2025 7:25 PM

R24 Trying too hard. She looks fine. Diana’s had better work done.

by Anonymousreply 25May 14, 2025 9:29 PM

Is this quid pro quo for Levy using “Like a Prayer” in “Deadpool & Wolverine?” She was reportedly quite hands-on with that arrangement.

Otherwise, why agree to direct this? It’s nothing more than a narcissistic love letter to herself.

by Anonymousreply 26May 14, 2025 9:37 PM

Is she to be portrayed by various actresses? Or will they layer the latex jowls on the same actress? On the other hand, during the height of her success, they could do a POV presentation of a spread pair of thighs.

by Anonymousreply 27May 14, 2025 9:40 PM

When did her chin get so big?!

by Anonymousreply 28May 14, 2025 9:57 PM

R26 You’re obsessed with trashing Madonna. Janbot?

by Anonymousreply 29May 14, 2025 10:06 PM

Nothing about me is limited! 💅🏼

by Anonymousreply 30May 14, 2025 10:24 PM

They just need to cast Madeline Brewer from The Handmaid’s Tale and You as Madonna.

There’s going to be a lot of excitement for this. Younger generations are discovering her from YouTube reactions. Of course Millennials, X, and Boomers will eat this up. There’s so much interesting material to cover. Her early days in NYC hanging around Sade, Beastie Boys, Big Daddy Kane, Basquiat, LL Cool J, and a ton of others who went on to big success. She hung out with Al Pacino (a friend’s dad took his daughter and Madonna to the dinner in ‘78’79). Al said she was a character, funny, annoying, and goofy. Word is they are going to heavily imply who the record ex was who wanted her to blow him for a record deal. She declined.

I think this could be bigger than the Crown.

by Anonymousreply 33May 14, 2025 10:51 PM

There’s a great Madonna and Keith Haring short story in the collection At Danceteria. I think it’s the title story.

by Anonymousreply 34May 15, 2025 1:20 AM

R34 Found where?

by Anonymousreply 35May 15, 2025 1:34 AM

Tammy Faye Reincarnated IS Madonna.

by Anonymousreply 36May 15, 2025 1:42 AM

by Anonymousreply 37May 15, 2025 1:43 AM

R36 OMG take it down a notch
