Apple releases new ugly-ass Pride wallpaper

Sad!

Looks like a beach umbrella.

I hate that everyone just suddenly adopted a new flag made by some graphic designer in Portland.

It really shows the total disregard and disrespect people have to the gay and lesbian community that built fucking everything.

by Anonymousreply 2May 12, 2025 6:25 PM

There is a green stripe, but it’s not chartreuse, a color required for the Genderqueer flag. The wallpaper is NOT inclusive!

Enough with all the fucking colors. It is total nonsense. Like all the initials. Fuck "the community. " Just get on with your life.

What bothers me, symbolically about adding extra colors and various dingbats to the original pride flag (well, not the ORIGINAL 8-color) but the widely adopted original, is that the rainbow represents all of the colors in the spectrum. The idea is that it was inclusive of all of us who were not garden variety straight. Now, it's just a marketing push to sell the latest version to everyone again each year, with each generation of slacktivists, saying: we did that! We added the fill-in-the-blank. And from a design perspective, something gays are supposed to be known for... don't get me started.

R5 - what bothers me is that it symbolically puts trans first when they already have their own flag. The brown and black was a reaction to BLM - but that is a different movement.

At the core of this is the unthinking blind adoption of anything the internet has to say. Just like the whole "we wouldn't have any gay rights without Marsha Johnson" bullshit from a few years ago that STILL lingers today.

Gays and lesbians have been trampled over by the TIAQ+. And nobody seems to care.

It looks like something Erika Jayne would hang in her rental.

Apple can provide a art, but can’t give me the flashlight app without making me scroll through three widget screens.

If I lived in the suburbs and drove a Bronco to Chili’s this would be the best wallpaper.

As it is, I’m broke and this is the city. Nobody cares what’s on their screens if it’s not titties.

The inclusive pride flag and variations of it seem to keep adding other colors and symbols to accommodate all the subgroups that feel left out.

Much the same way we keep adding letters to alphabet name to accommodate all the subgroups that don't feel they belong.

It’s telling that black people get one stripe while trans gets three, and Intersex gets more than everyone with the huge yellow triangle on the left,

by Anonymousreply 10May 12, 2025 9:29 PM

Apple sucks!

by Anonymousreply 11May 12, 2025 9:31 PM

My friend uses apple devices. His iPad cannot receive messages from Android devices. His iPhone can obviously and he has them all synced.

by Anonymousreply 12May 12, 2025 9:33 PM

The intrusion triangle now occupies half.

I like the term "intrusion triangle." Will have to add that to my vocabulary.

by Anonymousreply 14May 12, 2025 9:42 PM

Maybe the stripes could be redefined. The brown and black could be different levels of scat. The yellow is water sports. The circle could be gaping or sounding. The pink and blue could be whatever you call that thing where a guy inserts a baby doll into his rectum and then shits it out like giving birth. This would be true inclusivity.

by Anonymousreply 15May 12, 2025 9:45 PM

R10...What a stupid comment. The original pride flag was inclusive of EVERYONE! No one needed their own stripe, their own triangle, their own circle, their own chevron--their own anything! Anyone complaining about who gets more stripes on the flag is a demonstration of why the pride movement has turned into such a joke. It's not about feeling prideful about anything to you arrogant assholes. It's about who's worthy of the most victim points. All this flag & all your comment proves, R10, is that trying to please everyone only ends up pleasing no one. Pride, community, progress--these were reasons we gathered under the original flag. However, anyone gathering under this new flag has little realization of any of those 3 concepts. Your self-absorbed actions indicate any actual pride, you've divided a once cohesive community, and you've been hubristic enough to have undone years of the progress you climbed upon for your very own senses of vapid glory--and bitching the entire time.

by Anonymousreply 16May 12, 2025 9:53 PM

R16 - to be fair, I don't think R10 meant that at all. He was just commenting about the single black stripe and how minimal it is compared to the trans stripes.

I agree with you - but I think R10 was the wrong target.

by Anonymousreply 17May 12, 2025 10:25 PM

Then my apologies to R10, drinks on me. But I meant what I said!

by Anonymousreply 18May 12, 2025 11:20 PM

The original rainbow flag is such a beautiful and simple design, the pink and blue triange jutting into it ruins the whole aesthetic and is an eyesore.

by Anonymousreply 19May 12, 2025 11:45 PM

If trans women of color had actually been in charge of the gay rights movement, homosexuality would still be illegal.
