'Murderbot' sci-fi comedy with Alexander Skarsgård

The Apple TV+ series "Murderbot" is based on Martha Wells's novel series, "The Murderbot Diaries."

Loved the books. Might have to subscribe to Apple TV+.

I read three or four of the books. They're told from murderbot's perspective so it will be interesting to see how they make the show without that running commentary. Maybe it'll be narrated.

The first three episodes are out; and yes, it is narrated.

Saw all three and it's entertaining enough, but nothing remarkable. Most scenes are lifted directly from the novels, with little thought given to how well they work on screen, so some of it lands flat for me. Runtime of about twenty minutes might be too short. The CG is pretty outstanding, though. Skarsgård mostly just stands still, nice gig if you can find it.

The beautiful Akshay Khanna is in this as well. Recently seen in Andor and in Red, White & Royal Blue before that, where he played Nicky's hot assistant. Definitely falls into the "would lick his shitter" category, and then some.

I find it amusing that this is Skarsgård's official IMDb profile photo.

Akshay sounds like exactly my type.

I expected higher production values from Apple. I also thought Alexander Skarsgård was way too expressive. Ryan Gosling played a more convincing robot.

Akshay Khanna is delicious. Skarsgård finally got a good gig. His glassy eyes work well and as a bot he must only produced a restrained range of human emotions.

Watched the first six episodes tonight. Not what I expected. Lots of fun, and like a previous poster said, it’s a good gig for him, with his dry sense of humor.

robot- like dancing is one of my favorite styles.

I thought he was going to have a more prolific career post True Blood. He just has a presence about him on film and screen. No lip having at ass 😆

I'm watching this and really enjoying it. It's very up to date in its themes--believe it or not, it's basically about what it's like to experience the world as an autistic person. (Murderbot, despite his name, is not really murderous, but is just mostly alienated and depressed because he is so alienated.) I really like the other actors, but Skarsgard is the anchor.

I stopped two episodes or so before the finale. It's amusing, but it just goes around in circles, plot-wise.

R24, give it another chance.

The finale is of that rare type (like "Fleabag's" first season finale) that makes the entire show better in retrospect.

Kinda wanted Sec Unit to somehow join the variably sexy, highly awkward throuple.

That's exactly where I thought they would go because I wanted to see Askars and Akshay kith. But nope, nothing came out of that throuple, it was just kinda dropped.

There were so many moments like these where I thought "that must have definitely played better in comic book form", so it's not a fully successful adaptation to a different medium, in my view. Still, I'll finish the season.

I haven't seen him in awhile. Easy on the eyes.
