She was a funny and prolific writer. Seems like there’s a deep vein of materiall to be mined by Hollywood!
Where’s the Erma Bombeck resurgence?

My grandmother liked her. And I’m not young. That stuff is archaic.

There just wasn't any drama in her personal life, OP, so what is the biopic going to be about? Actresses want a Tammy Faye Bakker or a Tonya Harding, so that they can chew the scenery and win an Oscar.

Way too safe for today’s grizzled consumers.

Her life did have drama. She hid her health problems from everyone for years. She was diagnosed with a severe kidney disorder at 20, and survived breast cancer, having a radical mastectomy. She was on daily dialysis for years. Eventually one kidney had to be removed while awaiting a transplant. Then the remaining kidney failed. She finally got a transplant, but died from post-surgical complications. She kept writing her column until five days before her death. Any biopic would be a medical drama. Her humor doesn't date, as it was all about everyday life and the trials and tribulations of suburban life. Those things don't change too much. Sure, women's status in society has changed over the years, but not that much...
