Samantha's flying suit sold at auction for $40.000

Samantha's flying suit (which she used in the last couple of seasons) from the TV show BEWITCHED sold at auction earlier this week for a whopping $40K at Julien's. With additional fees, the total came to $52K. No one knows who the buyer is. Someone from here, perhaps ?

The same costume was listed for auction at Julien's two years ago, with a starting price of $15K. It was expected to sell at $25K, but it ended up not selling at all.

Slightly off topic, but has anyone else noticed on upscaled Bewitched episodes on newer televisions, that you can actually see some fishing line being used to make things "magically" float.

R1 Yes! Everyone has said this with the introduction of HD TV and big screen TV. The 'wires' to make things float are more than obvious in these episodes.

R2- Remember when the show was originally on the air probably 3/4 of everyone watching the show or watching the show on black-and-white TVs.

Great link, OP

R4 Why thanks ! Every time I tried to link to Julien's I got a "Something went wrong" page. But I'm certain you can do a better job, so have at it. Don't be part of the problem, be the solution.

What color was the flying suit?

Not R4, but trying to help.

I believe it was the all-black one, inside and out. Her older one (which was auctioned a few years ago) was black with a green interior.

On another group, someone said one of the many costumes Barbara Eden wore on IDOJ recently was auctioned for $65,000. (Apparently, there were many copies of her 'genie' suit made for the series, so they're not as rare as other TV costumes).

I'm surprised there's been no auctioning off of Endora's flying suit, which is what I always assumed that purple and green frock she used to wear was supposed to be.

R9 I believe that was auctioned off a couple of years ago. I posted it here when it was.

Wow, in the space of a minute, the phone bidding went from $15,000 to $40,000.

I wish whoever is buying up these costumes (both Bewitched and IDOJ) would donate them to a museum for everyone to enjoy. Wouldn't the Smthsonian be interested in these ?

Very interesting auction, tv props and costumes. The plaid couch from Rosanne, space guns from Lost in Space, Mr Bill from SNL, Wonder Woman’s costume, suits from the Sopranos, fake documents from Mission Impossible. Since it’s over, you can see the estimate and then the winning bid.
