"The Cat and the Canary" (1927)

This silent film by Paul Leni is ostensibly the progenitor of the modern haunted house movie as a we know it. I watched it earlier this evening and found that it felt surprisingly modern given how old it is. A good mixture of spookiness and comedy. Do any of the later adaptations hold up as well?

It's always interesting to watch if only because the original credits for "Scooby Doo, Where Are You?" use so many of its images.
