Why didn't these take off in the 70s?

Lord knows there were other just-as-horrific fashions that did. What kept the dog-eared collar from making it big?

Those collars look like propellers, so they could take off...literally.

by Anonymousreply 8May 9, 2025 5:58 PM

70s fashion was all about exaggerated, "too much" of something. This was one of many trends like that People wanted to give less of a shit. The recent celeb trend of 2022-24, the outfits that were huge shapes and drapes, earth tones, "on purpose" look really reminded me of the 70s. None of the current trend was interesting though; it was very un-fashiony, whereas the 70s styles reflected the fun, gonzo culture of that era.

Never saw one.

Huckapoo shirts were all the rage in mid-1970s NYC.

by Anonymousreply 13May 9, 2025 7:48 PM

They're just a little bit TOO Logan's Run

What about the men's one-piece jumpsuit phase? Did any eldergays (or friends of elders) wear those?

I would think that polyester covering most of your body must have been dreadful to wear on the disco dance-floor.

It’s like wearing a double-headed dong around your neck, but with far less utility.

by Anonymousreply 16May 9, 2025 8:27 PM

Neckerchiefs with rings were everywhere for a few years.

by Anonymousreply 17May 9, 2025 8:30 PM

R5, no you didn't!

by Anonymousreply 18May 9, 2025 8:30 PM

Never saw it, never heard of it.

by Anonymousreply 19May 9, 2025 9:22 PM

by Anonymousreply 20May 9, 2025 9:35 PM
