Donald Trump taps wellness influencer close to Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for surgeon general

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is tapping Dr. Casey Means, a wellness influencer with close ties to Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., as his nominee for surgeon general after withdrawing his initial pick for the influential health post.

Trump said in a social media post Wednesday that Means has “impeccable ‘MAHA’ credentials” – referring to the “ Make America Healthy Again ” slogan – and that she will work to eradicate chronic disease and improve the health and well-being of Americans.

“Her academic achievements, together with her life’s work, are absolutely outstanding,” Trump said. “Dr. Casey Means has the potential to be one of the finest Surgeon Generals in United States History.”

In doing so, Trump withdrew former Fox News medical contributor Janette Nesheiwat from consideration for the job, marking at least the second health-related pick from Trump to be pulled from Senate consideration. Nesheiwat had been scheduled to appear before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee Thursday for her confirmation hearing.

Another bleached blonde lint head with no gag reflex.

Fucking embarrassing. And probably fatal to a lot of us

Well, he's really championing the cause of female empowerment. Any bimbo can achieve prominence without having to be qualified.

That’s the thing —why a lame ass euphemism. Just say it. HOOK UP! never killed anyone. When asked where I met my husband: a one night stand that went overtime.

It's an odd move to dump Dr. Janette Nesheiwat, but then I saw this:

[quote]The shakeup comes as Loomer called on the president to pick a new nominee after it came to light that Nesheiwat received her medical degree from American University of the Caribbean instead of the University of Arkansas. Loomer also criticized Nesheiwat for being pro-vaccine.

Laura Loomer needs to be brought down.

A non-board certified, unlicensed, physician who “earned” an incomplete for her surgical residency is the fed’s top doc. Got it.

God Bless America! God Help America!

Someone should tell Trump to investigate Stanfurd ASAP— that will kill this failure’s nomination.

Ruh roh! Loomer doesn't like this one, either.

[quote]🚨 PRESIDENT TRUMP’S PICK FOR US SURGEON GENERAL CASEY MEANS SAID SHE PRAYS TO INANIMATE OBJECTS, COMMUNICATES WITH SPIRIT MEDIUMS, USES SHROOMS AS “PLANT MEDICINE” AND TALKS TO TREES! SHE ALSO DOESN’T EVEN HAVE AN ACTIVE MEDICAL LICENSE 🚨

Indeed.

I just saw that Loomer has come out swinging. I assume that this "Woo Woo Woman", which is what Loomer calls her, won't be the nominee for long, thank goodness. Loomer says, "I do not believe for one second that Donald Trump made this decision. I refuse to believe it."

OK without a doubt the worst SG in history. But in many ways the SG job is one of the most useless jobs .. In fact for many years when I was in DC we did not have one. And no one missed having one except the smoking and health people.

The SG on paper oversee the 6000 members of the commissioned corps of the PHS. In fact virtually all those officers are directly reporting to their actual bosses.

The one thing I know for sure chick Koop did for the CC was insist those officers wore their uniform at least one day a week. There was a run on uniform stores immediately after

The SG when important it’s very much a force of personality driven reason. So I was not all that upset when Obama was going to name a tv doctor as SG. Sanjay pulled out when he realized how much money he was going to lose.

Luther Terry and Chick Koop. Those men made a significant difference in our world . I have no idea who the 3rd one might be of true importance?

Heads of CDC——that’s the kind of position that is always important. SG not so much. But as Koop showed it “can “ be a great place to do real good.

Maybe lay off the box of wine, r6? No idea wtf you're trying to say.

The contempt this administration has for the American public and its institutions is astounding.

by Anonymousreply 23May 8, 2025 8:58 PM

I don’t think the surgeon general needs an active medical license, but they should sure as shit have some experience working as a doctor within the American healthcare system.

She’s young enough that she had to be super bright and reasonably together to get into and graduate from Stanford medical school. Other than that, she’s Gwyneth Paltrow.

by Anonymousreply 24May 8, 2025 9:04 PM

R24 international experience or public health experience would be a lot more important than being a doctor that has worked in the US health care system . It’s not like they are regulating American health care.

by Anonymousreply 25May 8, 2025 9:13 PM

[QUOTE]A list of things our new surgeon general Casey Means did to find love at age 35, per her newsletter. Shrine, full moon ceremonies, talked to trees, and then did mushrooms

She sounds like a practicing Wiccan. Just another mentally ill person associated with the Trump administration.

Sad, actually, because she once had the intellect and mental faculties to graduate Stanford Medical School.

I concede your point about public health experience, R25, but why would international experience be more important than having worked within the U.S. healthcare system?

He has lost his fucking mind!

Bigly!

by Anonymousreply 33May 9, 2025 1:03 AM

R27 what do you think the SGs job is?

Other than being the titular head of the commissioned corps. And he does not supervise their work day. They work directly for others for the most part,

They communicate. They inform the American public of risks. It’s a bully pulpit. A place to talk from, virtually no line responsibility and responsible for little , If not for Luther Terry and Chick Koop we would never hear of the SG

Do you know how many SGs there are? That is a bonus question because there is more than two of them,

Koop was a surgeon ion tiny kids., Almost nothing he would have done as a surgeon had anything to do with his main focus as sg that I remember

Insisting the commissioned corps wore a uniform Smoking and Health—-he never wrote the reports. AIDS—-he personally wrote the report and took a public stance

Maybe I don’t know what you mean by working in the health care system. If you men so they would understand access, cost , issues—-why that is not their job,

Communicating that would be the one word I would use as their job, Public Health and international experience wouod be what I wouod want doing surgery on infants not so much.

It’s the person that makes the job.

by Anonymousreply 34May 9, 2025 9:10 AM

What does Michael Myers faced- Laura Loomer have on Trump? WHY is he so willing to listen to her? What are her qualifications?

by Anonymousreply 35May 9, 2025 9:47 AM

R27 another way to look at the SG job. Every smoking announcement or report, everything having to do with infections ,or kids, or fat people, or anything else

The SG or their staff usually have noting to do with the reports other than releasing the info. The actual work is done by the agencies like FDA, CDC, etc.

And why is Luther terry who most people have no idea who he is famous in public health—- he authorized the first SG Report on Smoking that was released in 1964. Other than that no one today would have an idea who Luther terry .

The fear for these new SGs. They and SG staff will start doing their own work.

by Anonymousreply 36May 9, 2025 10:04 AM

The head charlatan appointing only other charlatans to lead government agencies.....into the ground. This is all basically a massive sabotaging of the USA government and it's economy. Vladimir Putin is pleased.

by Anonymousreply 37May 9, 2025 1:51 PM

All "wellness experts" are nutty grifters

by Anonymousreply 38May 9, 2025 2:44 PM

R22 I can only imagine the media senility talk if Joe Biden had said he doesn't know the SG nominee and somebody else chose her.

by Anonymousreply 39May 9, 2025 3:06 PM

The SG should be hired by his direct superior. The Assistant Sec for Health. The SG does not report to the president.

by Anonymousreply 40May 9, 2025 3:13 PM

That’s not how federal appointments work under the Constitution. Go learn something.

by Anonymousreply 41May 9, 2025 4:01 PM

No one reads the constitution. And IMO the selection of the surgeon general of the phs should be a health hire not a politico hire. So actually I’d “ normally” be in favor of sec hhs making the hire. Even though the SG does not report directly to anyone as high as the sec hhs,

The president obviously signs off

You able to show where in the constitution it says that low level appointments like the SG must be made by the president? What about the other surgeon generals we have today?

by Anonymousreply 42May 9, 2025 4:15 PM

R42 How does Trump's asshole taste? Corn and Big Macs?

by Anonymousreply 43May 9, 2025 4:56 PM

[QUOTE] No one reads the constitution.

The “Constitution” is capitalized—always. We know you just wipe your ass with it. However, to the majority of us, it’s still a document that means something and it needs to be respected, in print and elsewhere.

You’re giving non-American vibes. Besides coming off as an idiot.

by Anonymousreply 44May 9, 2025 4:59 PM

R44 i don’t know I volunteered and swore an oath to defend the constitution. Got the scars and the VA monthly check to prove it, How about you? Or are you more a talker?

by Anonymousreply 45May 9, 2025 5:15 PM

I also swore an oath to the Constitution (again, it’s capitalized, you moronic cunt).

Try again. Do you have anything else?

by Anonymousreply 46May 9, 2025 5:20 PM

Well thank you for your military service to country R46 . And thanks for protecting the constitution, unless of course you are just insinuating you might have served in the military.

Then you would be no different than Trump as far as actual military service.

by Anonymousreply 47May 9, 2025 5:31 PM

Military members are not the only people who swear an oath to the Constitution when beginning employment. Just so you know.

And, for the third and final time, when referring to the document upon which American democracy and laws are based, the word “Constitution” is capitalized. As a veteran, you really should already know this. You’re just trolling now by purposely not capitalizing it.

by Anonymousreply 48May 9, 2025 5:35 PM
