by Anonymous | reply 3 | May 5, 2025 7:19 PM |
It didn't see mockery, I saw a younger brother emulating an older brother. Though Prince Louis is probably angry that he only gets on sausage at breakfast while Prince George gets two. It is a royal tradition according to the failed Prince Harry.

[QUOTE] A fuck up? Louis seems completely normal for a little boy his age.
Every time we see Louis it's at a formal event, and yet he displays no sense of occasion whatsoever, unlike his siblings and father at the same age. He pulls faces, hits Kate, spazzes out. He's seven years old now and still behaving like a three year old. This will progress and by the time he's 18 he'll make Harry and Andrew seem like well behaved citizens. He'll probably be papped blind drunk every weekend, hanging out with Love Islanders in the Balearics and telling the press he hates his family.

George is going to be another reluctant monarch, like his father. Let's hope he stays friendly with Charlotte so that he can hand off a lot of duties to her like Charles does with Anne. Louis isn't going to be reliable. Another Harry - probably worse as Kate will spoil him and send him to a day school.
by Anonymous | reply 113 | May 8, 2025 7:36 AM |
Louis is definitely trouble. There’s no doubt he’s aping his brother in this clip, and there’s no doubt he’s getting a death stare from George. If you look carefully, it’s clear he’s pretending he didn’t do anything, and then pats his own hair to pretend he was doing just that before. He’s going to be more of a handful than Andrew.

How reluctant is William? He might have been when much younger, but I get the impression our Char is the only person keener than him to get their hands on the reins and start pulling everyone into line at this point.
by Anonymous | reply 118 | May 8, 2025 1:14 PM |
I don't think William is reluctant at all to become king when the time comes, but now is not the right time. First of all, I think he wants his father to live longer simply because he's his father and we all want our parents to be around longer. I think also he'd prefer his children to be a lot older and not still at this young age, especially George.
I actually think William is quite happy in his current role and enjoys what he does, and that he's also developed in his mind a vision of the kind of king he wants to be.

George has always been Datalounge gay.
by Anonymous | reply 121 | May 9, 2025 12:54 AM |
R120 I don't know, but honestly it wouldn't surprise me if he turned out to be so inclined. It would have no affect on his ability to become king. The potential problem would be the line of succession after him. It is stipulated that for his own child to inherit the throne, he or she would have to be a "legitimate heir of the body". Charlotte or her children could succeed him. They could also change the rules allowing a donor egg/surrogate. He could also do as some of his gay ancestors did and marry a woman to produce heirs and take male lovers.
by Anonymous | reply 122 | May 9, 2025 2:25 AM |

R123 I don't think so either. It's just a possibility. The UK is more likely to become a republic by that time.
by Anonymous | reply 125 | May 9, 2025 7:16 AM |
I think the "of the body" stipulation was challenged by the Marquess of Bath when he tried to undo the male primogeniture succession when the wife had significant health complications during pregnancy. They lost. Too lazy to look up.
by Anonymous | reply 126 | May 9, 2025 8:43 AM |
R126 The only think that I can find is that the 7th Marquess of Bath (father of the current Marquess) who died of COVID in 2022 left his entire estate to his wife and 2 legitimate children. He left nothing to his 70+ "wifelets" (term he used for his many, many mistresses) or one acknowledged illegitimate child. A number of these mistresses lived in grace and favor cottages on his property. There is an ongoing lawsuit in which some of these mistresses are trying to get some money from the estate. It doesn't appear that anyone is trying to get the title or the entailed portion of the estate. I can't find anything online about any successful case of an illegitimate child successfully getting a title or entailed estate. That doesn't mean it's never happened, but a preliminary search isn't finding anything.
by Anonymous | reply 127 | May 9, 2025 9:21 AM |
The 7th Marquess of Bath is an interesting character if anyone is interested in reading about him. His body count could give a gay man a run for his money.

The supposed royal drama between George and Louis came during the VE Day Parade (probably a boring bit when they had to wait around).
King Charles gave a great VE Day speech last night. Lots of references to the wartime experiences of his grandfather, mother and father, many of which were historic moments. This is the kind of thing that isn't possible in a republic.

Who is "we", r130?
by Anonymous | reply 131 | May 9, 2025 11:15 AM |
I don't think that's true. Anyone can talk about the wartime experiences of their forebears and how they were handed down to one. I've attended plenty of events in America where the speaker talked about his own wartime experiences, or his father's, etc. They don't have to be experienced by monarchical rulers to be meaningful "historic moments."
by Anonymous | reply 132 | May 9, 2025 11:21 AM |
The "historic" bit is that the King's grandfather was the head of state who made the OG VE Day speech. Plus the memories of the Queen walking through the crowds. These are well-known stories that have become part of the national memory.
The memories of VE Day veterans themselves are of crucial importance, and Prince George got to chat with some of the few who are still around. This will be something he can talk about in the future, when he is King, creating a further chain of connection in the future to the events of the 1940s.
Listen to Charles's speech to get a sense of what I mean.
by Anonymous | reply 133 | May 9, 2025 11:30 AM |
R132, I get that, as an American, you don't have a single, independent head of state who represents the whole nation and the state, as many other countries do, so you might not grasp what I'm saying. Different countries have different systems and, just as the British system is inappropriate for the US, the American system is inappropriate for Britain.

Crazy Louis snapping in a few years, and murdering George. It doesn’t seem unreasonable…

George is going to make an excellent Queen on day, long before he inherits the throne. He'll need an Alex Claremont-Diaz of his own.

R 149. Or the former king of Thailand. Fratricide is surprisingly common in royal circles.

[quote]Maybe you should learn some reading comprehension. I like the Royal Family just fine, I never said otherwise. Just that Americans are totally fine without a monarchy. And yes, Trump Trump Trump. I know. But he'll be gone in four years and we'll move on. You can't do that with a monarchy
We are not doing fine. And no, the problem Trump represents will not disappear in four years. Arguably some of the problems America faces result from having a combined head of state and head of government, which the British system avoids.
There's no need to get rid of the monarchy. What has it done that is remotely comparable to what Trump has done?

The BRF is racist and homophobic but it's ancient and attracts huge amounts of tourists so it's not going anywhere.

R142, that is the certified Galinda Flip, loved by young girls the world over. One progresses from there to the Bend and Snap when one is old enough.
