The 4 bedroom house of 3700 square feet is very nice, with great views toward the city. The furnishings are not exceptional, but not too very granny.

God, that house is amazing!

Only 4 bedrooms?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | May 3, 2025 8:27 AM |
The setting in the preview picture is so idyllic. I know, r3 That house looks too large to have only four bedrooms. Is it attached to another residence?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | May 3, 2025 8:30 AM |
Of course it is not one residence. Note the different colored entrance doors.

[quote][italic]The jaw-droppingly gorgeous gaff dates all the way back to 1811 and boasts four bedrooms, two reception rooms, and five reception rooms. [/italic]
Well, I hope you like reception rooms!

I must be going blind or I was too caught up in the scenery. I only saw the rightmost door.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | May 3, 2025 8:57 AM |
I thought the building was one house, too, at first glance. But for god’s sake, I’m looking at a little images on a cell phone!

Too many water rats; would also drink to high heaven on a summer’s day.
Hard pass.

Gawd, those interiors are mediocre.

It's only one small townhouse of two rooms per floor but with a glazed corridor connecting it to once separate rear building that, in the floor plans at the listing link. The attached rear building is larger than the lot line of the narrow width of Norton's house, it "steals" from behind his neighbor toward the Thames. I would assume that this was a separate mews house and divided, part associated with Norton's house and part with the next door neighbor whose largher house is at the Thames end of the row. Much of the internal space owes to the mews house and its excavated and finished basement level. (I've outlined the general shape in bluebut look at it in Google Maps aerial view and it's clear.)
In the facade view, Norton's house is only the red door and the window to the right -- two openings per floor at the facade, and two small rooms per floor separated by a stair.

And that would differ to your other days?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | May 3, 2025 10:12 AM |
Nice place. We don’t talk about Graham much here, but I am a fan.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | May 3, 2025 10:17 AM |
Wouldn't it be funny if he had a red sofa in the house like the one on the set? Of course, with the obligatory table for cocktails.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 3, 2025 10:21 AM |
why did he have a house in NYC? Let's see his houses in Ireland.
For the London house - FLOOD zone. Don't buy if you are young. It will be underwater in your lifetime.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | May 3, 2025 10:28 AM |
The article said he’d planned to retire in NYC until he met/married his husband.

Like a lot of entertainers, Norton doesn't have the best taste. It's better than I was expecting, R10. The house itself is good, though, and the incorporation of the rear warehouse/mews building gives it the one big space that the main house lacks, most of teh rooms are only 13' x 15' or 15' x 15' at most.

The setting is amazing although you can see the high tide mark on the embankment, there’s not much leeway before it floods.
The bedroom/toilet situation is not good.

R18, which industries & careers do you find to have consistently good taste?

[post redacted because independent.co.uk thinks that links to their ridiculous rag are a bad thing. Somebody might want to tell them how the internet works. Or not. We don't really care. They do suck though. Our advice is that you should not click on the link and whatever you do, don't read their truly terrible articles.]

Interiors are more restrained than I anticipated. His home is perfect. I would never sell

Wapping?
Ugh.

Are he and the husband still together? This fire sale of property seems odd.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | May 4, 2025 9:52 PM |
Yeah, why is he selling these two dreamy properties? I can't decide which one is better, the London or the NYC one.
I would make a botanist's Eden out of that communal garden, although it doesn't look that shabby as it is. Don't care for the view of The Shard, though, never liked that building. It's the Tower Bridge I'd be looking at every morning as I sipped my warm cuppa coffee. And then in the afternoon again as I sipped my warm cuppa tea.

I don’t get why anyone rich and famous would want a property with so little privacy in the outdoor space(s). The small yard is overlooked by another building and as great as the big garden with the river view is, again if you’re sat out there all your neighbours can see you. Guess he probably has a big private house in Ireland somewhere for that but still.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | May 5, 2025 2:41 AM |
Because he's never been an outdoorsy type of a guy. He takes his dogs out for a walk and that's that.
I wouldn't care about my neighbours seeing me, they're also loaded and couldn't give less of a fuck, it's not like he's surrounded by council estate flats. It's the drones I'd be worried about.

R18- The interior of the carriage house in Manhattan looks terrible. It looks as if ALL of the period details have been removed. It's looks characterless the interior rooms and some of them including the bathrooms are just plain TACKY.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | May 5, 2025 3:39 AM |

Love the place in New York linked to above.

The Sniffen Court carriage house is a lovely place, largely for it's setting and exterior (and roof terrace). It does have the one nice "Great Room", but it's a compact really, ideally suited for someone who needs one bedroom and an occasional guest bedroom.
I would have renovated the interior differently, but it's fine given some repainting and furnishing. The current decor seems to break the space up into small and very small spaces, still it's a beautiful and interesting compact house.
Norton does have a bigger country house near Cork and maybe still another place ir two (beyond those mentioned here), and unloaded some other expensive properties in England a couple years ago. There have been some tabloid style features about his property portfolio.

Sniffen Court is divine.

I like the bowl with COCAINE emblazoned across it in the NYC pad.
