Odd if not.

He's no longer on Mondays, and hasn't been in a year!
by Anonymous | reply 12 | May 6, 2025 5:42 AM |
My understanding is that he hasn't been in on Mondays for many months, ever since Jen added her Monday edition of Inside, which now goes away, replaced by the Weeknight.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | May 6, 2025 5:46 AM |
Jem Psaki took over Mondays at 8 pm from Hayes nearly a year ago. Now that she's taking over the 9 PM slot from Alex Wagner (thank heavens!) her Monday at 8 slot is open, so they gave the extra hour to 'The Weeknight' (and not Wagner).

Ncole told her panel today "You all made me smarter. Thank You". They all (should have) responded : "Easiest thing we've done all week."
by Anonymous | reply 18 | May 7, 2025 8:32 PM |
And then she boosts the panel's ego even further by adding; "I don't say that every day".
Which ALSO somewhat infers is that she's pretty smart herself. Interesting choice of phrasing while also stroking her own ego.
But in all seriousness, I find her one of the more in depth, educated, pointed, and interesting anchors, unlike Ms. "but what about the Democrats", Tur and that skanky party girl, Stephanie Ruhle. Uggggh

What's going on with Jen Psaki's hair this week? On the first 2 nights of the Briefing, and when she was on with Rachel Monday, it's looked kind of squared off and flattened on top. Doesn't frame her face as usual, not flattering.

I like Jen Psaki but she always seems very uncomfortable on-camera and frankly I don’t know what they think she brings to this hour that Alex Wagner didn’t. If she’s more popular with viewers than Wagner, then okay, fine, but otherwise they could have just given the time back to Wagner and let Psaki stay on Sundays.

We all have our favorites of course but I really can't stand Symone and Lawrence. I thought Kathie Phang and Alex Wagner were doing a great job and was surprised when they lost their shows. Psaki I find too bland, Chris is a yeller and I find annoying. I like Michael and Alicia but am baffled that Jonathan Capehart was kept on the air. I use to like Katy Tur but less and less. Another one that drives me nut is that Pablo Torres on Morning Joe. If he's on I will switch channels. Dial it down please...Anyone knows what happened to Danny Deutsch ? But my queen is Nicole. Ultimately, Evangelical recruitment of Incels is just an extension of Rape Culture for Incels not smart enough to learn Frat Boy Rape Culture in college.

by Anonymous | reply 103 | May 15, 2025 5:51 AM |
That’s quite odd, r101, considering how they actually voted.
Bucks County: Bucks County, a key swing area, went to Trump by a narrow margin of a few hundred votes.
Montgomery County: Montgomery County, the most populous Philadelphia suburban county, favored Kamala Harris, though by a slightly smaller margin than Biden in 2020.
Chester County: Chester County also favored Harris.
Delaware County: Delaware County voted for Harris, but Trump narrowed the margin compared to 2020.
by Anonymous | reply 104 | May 15, 2025 2:23 PM |
Why wasn't I surprised by Trump's win? Why I don't think it was "stolen"? Because, as R100 notes, the polling. Trump's polls in '16 & '20 consistently undercounted his vote total. I think it's forgotten by many how bad his polls were in the run up to the '20 election. I was supremely confident of a Biden blowout because of the polls in the Blue Wall states. The actual state results were much closer than any of us anticipated. We were assured that this problem had been corrected for the '24 election. I had my doubts. And when the polls in the summer & fall showed Trump doing better than polls in the prior two election cycles, I was most apprehensive.

Talking about his poll numbers, R106. His pre-'24 election poll numbers, particularly in Michigan & Pennsylvania, were much better than they were in either '16 or '20.
[quote] Elon got his hands into our voting system and disappeared 10 million votes across every single swing state.

Maddow keeps an apartment in Manhattan, but she decamps to the solitude of Northampton, Mass. on weekends, where she lives with her girlfriend of 12 years, artist Susan Mikula, and Poppy, their black Labrador. ...
Gay marriage was legalized in Massachusetts in 2004, but Maddow says she and Mikula have no immediate wedding plans. "We know a lot of people who have gotten married but I don't think we feel any urgency about it."
Later she admits that she's actually ambivalent about the cultural impact of gay marriage.
"I feel that gay people not being able to get married for generations, forever, meant that we came up with alternative ways of recognizing relationships," she explains. "And I worry that if everybody has access to the same institutions that we lose the creativity of subcultures having to make it on their own. And I like gay culture."

What rival networks? The only rival is CNN, unless Melber were to take a hard right turn and join Fox or Newsmax. by Anonymous | reply 210 | May 29, 2025 3:42 PM |
I said this before, just after the election when ratings drop (as they always do after elections!).
I think MSNBC is taking the wrong stance. Instead of trying to be more center and attempt to win people on the right, (like by firing all their diverse anchors), they should do the opposite: go as far left as possible. Although for years pundits used to like to pair MSNBC next to FOX and claim MSNBC was the FOX of the left, it was a false equivalence. Yes, MSNBC is biased, but they didn't "spin" to the point of totally lying like Fox, and weren't nearly as extreme.
Now they should be. There's an audience for it. Bring back people like Joy Reid, Mehdi Hasan, etc. Add 2024 election deniers like Jessica Denson, Jim Stewartson, etc. I, for example, happen to agree with them as do lots of others, others who have shut off MSNBC because they felt they could no longer trust the coverage. These are the people they want to bring back. They will never get people on the right. But they can bring back some of their old viewers and those on the extreme left who are looking for news outlets to cover this and lots of other stories that are deliberately being buried.
Oh, but to clarify, unlike FOX, they shouldn't lie. Reporting stories that the 2024 election was rigged by Elon isn't a lie as long as they frame it properly; as in "There is increasing evidence the 2024 election might have been tampered with".

When one show does well they dont know how to keep it special, they exploit it and run it several times a day every day non-stop until people burn out on it. There are so many talented people that should be on there but they never take a bit of the unknown. It's always "lets fill in the gap" with this type of demographic. Market driven decision instead of any real search for real journalism.

Heileman is back but not as much as he was before the Ring Kissing Event. All those guys abandoned ship like it was the Titanic, and for good reason. Now they are slowly drifting back with occasional appearances being very cautious of the Morning Joe husband /wife / Trump polyamorous throuple.
Joe is trying to play it a bit more down the right of middle, not attacking Trump but still pointing out his issues. Mika has stopped her hims and haws and her fake outrage and is now pretending to be a journalist offering very little of her personal opinion. Occasional wearing a tacky suit jacket instead of a parade of her $1,000 designer scarves draped over her breast implants.

However (deservingly) frustrating Sinema was, she didn't do "a 180 for Trump." If she had, she wouldn't have voted for every single one of Biden's judicial nominees. I don't know what your definition of a "hard core" Democrat is - btw, I never said "hard core," just "former Democrats" - but unless it's just a member of NPR and/or MSNBC's audience, I cannot agree. It cannot be gainsaid that lots of males, young, Black and Latino, left their Democratic homes to vote for Trump last year. And then, of course, there's plenty of data establishing that many Obama & Sanders voters voted for Trump in '16.
by Anonymous | reply 296 | June 4, 2025 2:28 PM |
The Great Realignment is about as real as the Great Pumpkin. Trump won by 1.5% difference in the vote. Basically the margin of error. There is no Great Realignment anymore than a mandate. For reference, Ronald Reagan won by 50.7% vs Carter at 40.1% of the popular vote. That is a Great Realignment. Almost 10%.

It’s very annoying, especially when compared to her co-hosts Michael and Alicia who are just better communicators.

Must we endure every Democratic mayoral primary candidate in NYC for the next few weeks ? They wasted so much time this morning on a candidate named Adams, who sits on the city council and would be the first female mayor of NYC (yes, we heard the same thing a few years ago when Maya Wiley was running - and came in last place). She's repeating the same campaign promises as the others (protecting their sancturary city, protecting immigrants, addressing housing, standing up to Trump).
The only people these candidates should matter to right now are NYC voters - so why give them all this time on a national morning news show ? I'm not interested in their campaigns - I'm not voting for them.

And how does Charlie Sykes stating the obvious - that, yes, there are a lot of people who support what Trump is doing - mean that he remains a conservative, whatever that means today?! It's not like he said - or gave any indication - that HE supports Trump.
by Anonymous | reply 373 | June 10, 2025 9:51 PM |
[quote] I like that Charlie Sykes corrected Nicolle's ridiculous statement that NOBODY supports what Trump is doing in LA.
The longtime Detroit News Tigers beat writer agrees.
by Anonymous | reply 374 | June 11, 2025 12:28 AM |
Sykes said that people waving Mexican flags are doing themselves no favors. It's their right but I agree.
by Anonymous | reply 375 | June 11, 2025 12:28 AM |
WOW! What an impassioned speech Gov Newsom is giving in his address to the country about what Trump is doing in CA. It sounded very much like a campaign speech.

Morgan Chesky’s hair looks strange in this light, like he put shoe polish on his head
by Anonymous | reply 377 | June 11, 2025 3:06 AM |
It's Morgan Chesty to the DL.
by Anonymous | reply 378 | June 11, 2025 8:29 AM |
r376, more like a declaration of war without making a declaration of war...
by Anonymous | reply 379 | June 11, 2025 10:45 AM |
I prefer to call him Chesty Morgan.

I really wish Nicolle would dispense with citing various - meaningless - polls.
by Anonymous | reply 381 | June 11, 2025 8:09 PM |
I like Nicole citing anything she likes.
Much better than Fox Entertainers.
by Anonymous | reply 382 | June 11, 2025 8:18 PM |
It's twiggering, R382. It reminds me too much of the last election.
by Anonymous | reply 383 | June 11, 2025 8:24 PM |
C'mon, Nicolle (or, more to the point, her producers), the Quinnipiac poll appears to be an outlier. Would that it were not.

Why is she laughing while Justen Wolfers describes his childhood memories of his parents' divorce?

Oh joy, Prof. Eddie Glaude will be on the next block.

Good to see Prof Glaude doing a segment on Racism in the military..

R385 It's her way of being polite, rather than saying, Oh no, not another one of your lame analogies and anecdotes.

Hope Trump's catheter breaks when he's on stage at his vanity parade rally.
by Anonymous | reply 389 | June 12, 2025 12:14 AM |
I hope his hair is protected with the expected thunderstorms.
by Anonymous | reply 390 | June 12, 2025 12:16 AM |
Hope he drops dead.
by Anonymous | reply 391 | June 12, 2025 1:51 AM |
Isn't he going to the theater tonight? As a Civil War might be breaking out? Doesn't he claim he represents the party of Lincoln?
Maybe history can repeat itself.

That film-maker on MJ this morning - Bernard-Henri Levy - was giving me a hard on. There was something sexy about this 76 year old man that really turned me on.

Why are all three Morning Joe hosts missing? Hmm, more drama? They didnt say anything about being on vacation or out for a few days. Joe has not been there all week. Then is was just Mika and Willy, then just Willy, now all seem to be missing.
by Anonymous | reply 397 | June 12, 2025 12:41 PM |
I can see Trump and friends using video and ticket seat numbers/charge cards to identify and discipline those who dared boo dear leader.
by Anonymous | reply 398 | June 12, 2025 1:35 PM |
Lawrence may be on fire, but he is saying the same thing night after night.

by Anonymous | reply 400 | June 12, 2025 3:11 PM |
r399, he is our Cassandra in the coal mine (mixed metaphor intended).
I could listen to Lawrence simply repeat: Trump is stupid, and my heart would rise with hope.
When they get to Lawrence we are dead.
by Anonymous | reply 401 | June 12, 2025 4:13 PM |
Interesting, R397. Savannah and Craig were also missing on Today - Willie and Hallie Jackson were filling in - I preferred them actually during my morning routine getting ready for work.
by Anonymous | reply 402 | June 12, 2025 4:42 PM |
Oh, no. I hope he's OK, R399.
by Anonymous | reply 403 | June 12, 2025 4:59 PM |

[quote] Forecast is for rain and thunderstorms on Saturday in the nation’s capital.
Maybe this God thing is real.
by Anonymous | reply 409 | June 12, 2025 10:59 PM |
So the real issues with trump and possible rain is not that they military will cancel, they said they will be there rain or shine, tanks don't melt. HOWEVER, they also said if there is lightening, large crowds of people on the ground are at risk and they will disperse them for safety reason. Which gets to the real reason, expected turnout will be dismal. Hotel rooms are not being booked up. And you know how Dump hates to be embarrassed.

Alicia Menendez is PISSED over Alex Padilla..
She is seething as she recalls an incident with Trump and Univision Ramos 11 years ago.
I have not seen her in high Latina dudgeon.

Lying Trumptards gotta go^
by Anonymous | reply 413 | June 12, 2025 11:17 PM |
[quote] Maybe this God thing is real.
It was Trump's last parade, July 4th 2019, where he falsely claimed that God had stopped the rain when he came out on stage. This was the speech in which the stable genius stated that the brave Revolutionary War militia "took over the airports". Later mistakenly attributed by Joe Rogan to Joe Biden as evidence that he was senile and should be removed from office.
by Anonymous | reply 414 | June 12, 2025 11:37 PM |
I just heard a tape of Trump speaking in 2019 & the degradation of his voice over the years is pretty pronounced. Only to get worse.

He and Mary are still putting out their podcast on schedule, but you're right; I haven't seen him lately. His most frequent appearances seem to have been on Nicolle's and Lawrence's programs. I'm kind of surprised Trump hasn't issued an EO against him yet.
by Anonymous | reply 422 | June 13, 2025 7:22 AM |
Mary forgot the SPF 50 on her recent run.

Andrew was on the Bulwark podcast with Tim Miller yesterday for the hour. There was some mention of him being on partial sabbatical. Didn't look to be zooming in from his loft, against some vertical shiplap and funky wall art.

Doyenne Susan Page is on. I miss the old Susan Page, pre-diet and surgery.
by Anonymous | reply 425 | June 13, 2025 2:34 PM |
Susan Page is married to Carl Leubsdorf, longtime DC reporter & columnist.
by Anonymous | reply 426 | June 13, 2025 6:19 PM |
I also think Andrew has been missing because a lot of the topics they’ve been focusing on lately (the situation in LA, Iran vs. Israel, the military parade) are not in his wheelhouse. I’ve seen a lot more of Tim Miller and former generals lately (although Lisa Rubin and Barbara McQuade have popped up a few times in the last week).
BTW, I think I’ve told this story before, but I have a friend who went to Michigan with Barb McQ, lived in law school housing with her, and said she and her now husband Dan had VERY noisy sex almost every night.
As the saying goes, still waters run deep! 😳
