Zombie horror movie ‘Rapture’
Three DL faves, sort of. Interesting premise, just a shame it's shooting in deplorable Hungary.
Set in Medieval England in the year 1348, the story alights on Lansley Abbey, a remote stone monastery in Yorkshire, which houses ten monks bound by a life of strict routine and devotion. Their fragile peace is disrupted by the arrival of a messenger – a man with haunting news from the outside world who rapidly shows symptoms of a mystery illness.
The film marks the debut feature for playwright and director Jordan Tannahill.

I will say that Kit Connor is a cute little munchkin.

You must have been clinically isolated from popular culture – or society in general – over the past five years if you don't recognise a single one of those names. How do you not recognise at least Poulter, come on now.

Enough with the zombie movies already. The trend should have died out ( no pun intended) at least after “Train to Busan”.

I don't know, the period setting seems like a fresh spin on the genre, so I'm willing to give it a try. But again, I really wish they just shot it in Czechia instead of at Trump's bff's place. They outlawed LGBT gatherings of any kind just the other day, Hollywood is so hypocritical.

There is some humour that 2025 Hungary is as close a fill in they could find for a miserable medieval Yorkshire monastery though

R3 is this Poulter kid's frau mom.

Just casually being on DL should have been enough for you to come across his name once or twice. To say nothing of Kit Connor, who has his own dedicated hate shrine here.

A straight, a bi, and a gay.

r10 Someone on here once told me Poulter was closeted. Granted DL says that about every actor.

The character descriptions for this leaked a couple of years ago. Kit and Manu are playing lovers. Jordan Tannahill (married to Brandon Flynn) wrote it and is directing it.

Who will play the Mimi Rogers role?

That might be interesting, depending on how it’s written.

Will there be any actual hookups among them?

R17 Manu and Kit - definitely, probably multiple times. Kit is only 21 and famous, now more than ever. Getting a full taste of the celebrity hedonism he has access to now, coupled with a 21yr-old's lack of self control, he may be the slut of the set.
And probably between Kit +/or Manu and the director +/or his husband. Have to wait for set gossip after production ends.

Yep, still eager for both

r18 It's so funny reading that, knowing it will all go down in Hungary, which doesn't even allow pride parades anymore, but presumably is fine with foreign TV and film productions making softcore gay porn there. Hope none of them get gay bashed.

Filming starts soon. Hope there is some good old fashioned gossip from set. Kit on a tear after getting dragged by Conan? All we can do is wait and hope for some juicy news.

No idea about Kit but I suspect the “bi” thing is maybe a bit of queerbaiting?

You idiots think that the guy that spends half of his time in gay clubs and vacations with Elton John every year is faking being bi?

R23 "no idea about kit" but you've been leaving the same comments about him across different threads for over a year. nice try, retard.

In 1348 an actual global pandemic was causing millions of people to die in hideous agony, but nah, let's make it zombies instead.

I assume people will eventually invade this monastery and it would be weird to do that with plague victims. So zombies it is. Plus, more people will watch it that way as you can easily market it as "that monks and zombies movie". I don't know how the horror bros will feel about all that sweet gay action, however.

R28 I have a feeling that because it’s Tannahill, it may end up being something like an allegory for HIV/AIDS.

How ribald do you guys think the stories will be from set? The director has veen hinting that it will be very explicit, so behind the scenes should be just as steamy.

[bold]Before we wrap up, I wanted to take a quick pivot because I know you’re gearing up to film for your feature directorial debut, Rapture. What can you tell me about that?[/bold]
Rapture is a film that I wrote and will be directing, starring Kit Connor, Will Poulter, and Manu Rios. It’s set at a Cistercian monastery in Yorkshire in 1348, the year that the Black Death arrives on what we now call the British Isles. It’s about how this order of monks contends with the arrival of this apocalyptic plague and the moral crises that arise therein, but at the heart of it is this deep, passionate relationship between these two young monks who have grown up together. It’s queer body horror.
I think all three of those actors I mentioned — among some other great performers, some of whom are also queer — are going to give these exciting performances that we haven’t seen from them before. I feel like it’s going to be a juicy film — and hopefully, a pretty terrifying one, too. We’re in the thick of pre-production at the moment, but the hope is to be going into principal photography fairly soon. I’m just really excited to share this story with the world.

I’m not the biggest fan of zombies. I think the genre has become lazy and cheap. But it’s hardly a trend. Zombies have been featured on screen since at least the 1932 (Bela Lugosi in White Zombie).
