OMG. Yesterday evening Facebook gave me (through who knows what convoluted algorithms) a post from her account saying it was her husband writing, and that Ruth was withdrawing from posting because of health issues, and that we should all post photos of ourselves with her or happy memories we had of her. I wondered if she was long for this world. RIP Ruth!

I used to watch her and Jim Nabors in "The Lost Saucer" on Saturday mornings. Even as a kid, I thought the show was incredibly stupid, but I'd still tune in every week.

I remember there was a Saturday Morning cartoon based on the Gladys and Tyrone characters in the 70s.
But I also remember “The Lost Saucer” and her appearance in “The North Avenue Irregulars”.

R15 I was the one who found a thread from last year and bumped it, with what her husband posted yesterday......

Just a few hours later.

Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In is available on many free streaming services. If you have a chance, take a look. It looks dated -- it is. But for a time it was must-see TV and people talked about the next day in the workplace. It was...of its time.

[quote]It's just funny to me that an obscure actress from a forgotten show from 60 (!) years ago gets a big conversation here. It's wild.
She wasn't really obscure. For anyone who grew up in the 70s and 80s she was one of those faces that was everywhere for many years. I'm not old enough to have seen Laugh-In expect for Nick at Nite reruns in the 90s but I knew her from the original Freaky Friday and several other live action Disney movies in the 70s. She also did countless TV guest star appearances - The Love Boat, Alice, ChiPs, Trapper John M.D., You Can't Do That On Television, The Muppet Show. She played Screech's mom on Saved By The Bell. I had forgotten The Lost Saucer but seeing the credits at r14 brought back memories. She also did tons of voice over work and had a long-running recurring role on Sesame Street in the 90s which would make her recognizable to whole new generation.
For some reason I thought she did a lot of game shows like Hollywood Squares, Pyramid and Match Game but I don't see those on her imdb page.
