Jeremy Renner turned down ‘HAWKEYE’ Season 2 when told that he would only earn half of his Season 1 salary

Why did they cut his salary in half?

I wish this fucking troll doll would fade away.

by Anonymousreply 1May 1, 2025 8:44 PM

Good for him!

by Anonymousreply 2May 1, 2025 8:57 PM

What is Miss Renner issue?

by Anonymousreply 3May 1, 2025 9:01 PM

He got cut in half by the snow plow, it makes sense that his salary reflects this.

by Anonymousreply 4May 1, 2025 9:04 PM

I’ve never heard of this show. Maybe thats why.

by Anonymousreply 5May 1, 2025 9:09 PM

Disney+/Marvel is losing movie. They can't pay a (slightly soiled) A-list star for a streaming series.

by Anonymousreply 6May 1, 2025 9:13 PM

R5 yeah, I’m sure you’ve never heard of Hawkeye from Avengers.

Please be for real.

by Anonymousreply 7May 1, 2025 9:15 PM

I think the public interest in this project is probably less than half now, since it's been 4Ever since the Avengers/Hawkeye was out. Makes sense

by Anonymousreply 8May 1, 2025 9:15 PM

R7, I’ve never had any experience with the Avengers and my life isn’t as empty as you seem to think, lol.

by Anonymousreply 9May 1, 2025 9:18 PM

Isn't the public experiencing cartoon superhero overkill exhaustion yet?

by Anonymousreply 10May 1, 2025 9:19 PM

R9 one doesn’t need to watch them to know the characters. These characters have existed for decades.

by Anonymousreply 11May 1, 2025 9:21 PM

Breaking news: Not everyone keeps up with the world of comic book characters, no matter how long they've been around.

I'd never heard of Hawkeye either.

by Anonymousreply 12May 1, 2025 9:23 PM

R12 that’s bullshit. And you know it. Enough with the games and numerous accounts.

by Anonymousreply 13May 1, 2025 9:26 PM

I’ve never heard of this Hawkeye person, either.

But as to why he declined Season 2 in the article he says, “They offered me half the money. I’m like, ‘Well, it’s going to take me twice the amount of work for half the amount of money, and eight months of my time, essentially, to do it for half the amount.’”

So now the entire cast and crew is out of work - when he caused the accident that’s set them all back in the first place! (Renner admits he forgot to engage the snowplow‘s emergency brake.)

by Anonymousreply 14May 1, 2025 9:56 PM

I had no idea there's a Hawkeye superhero, and proud of it.

Is Renner popular enough that turning down the part means the end of the series? It's only S2 -- a recast would be easy and cheaper.

by Anonymousreply 15May 1, 2025 10:12 PM

R13 No it's not, bud! I'm 62 years old, I read books and I have no clue about Marvel - I had to google Hawkeye. And I only have one account, which you're free to block. Maybe you should get out of your bubble.

by Anonymousreply 16May 1, 2025 10:24 PM

Marvel drools, DC rules.

by Anonymousreply 17May 1, 2025 10:27 PM

Hawkeye's superpower is he's good with a bow and arrow.

by Anonymousreply 18May 1, 2025 10:33 PM

BREAKING:

Disney has negotiated for Alan Alda to reprise his own Hawkeye, with the MASH doctor reimagined as a nonagenarian Avenger seeking to halt the devastation wreaked by the new Green Goblin, as portrayed by an emerald Hal Linden.

Gen Z is already buzzing about what they’ve termed The Showdown of the Century.

The only one that really that Marvel cares about is RDJ. A jet, 4 trailers, 24 hour security, huge paycheck.

by Anonymousreply 20May 2, 2025 12:52 AM

r20, and he earned them. I can't stand those Iron Man movies but they're the foundation of the MCU's success.

by Anonymousreply 21May 2, 2025 12:57 AM

[QUOTE] r20 The only one that that Marvel really cares about is RDJ

Which stands for... ?

That's nothing! When I did "Cleopatra," I made more than any star had before me--and even my dressing room was five times normal!

Why would anyone be proud of not knowing something? Celebrating ignorance is such a strange American tradition.

by Anonymousreply 24May 2, 2025 3:20 AM

Marvel's Hawkeye character's power is his ability to use a bow and arrow.

He is the equivalent of DC Comic's Green Arrow.

I hear they offered the snowplough double.

by Anonymousreply 26May 2, 2025 3:56 AM

he was so interesting when he first appeared on the scene in "The Hurt Locker," but he's never been interesting since.

It's astonishing he thinks he can still command at age 54 the same artificially inflated salary he once did.

by Anonymousreply 27May 2, 2025 4:03 AM

As far as Marvel shows go, Hawkeye was actually a pretty good show.

It sounds like he thinks they offered him less because he'd be doing less because of his injuries. Stupid reason.

However, he was really unnecessary after Season 1 made another character, "Hawkeye."

Sad, they trashed the whole thing.

by Anonymousreply 28May 2, 2025 4:06 AM

Ladyboys aren't cheap!

by Anonymousreply 29May 2, 2025 8:39 AM

I think he started the house rehab hobby to explain why he always had a younger handsome male at his side. But they probably remodeled the bedroom first.

by Anonymousreply 30May 2, 2025 10:01 AM

He’s gone downhill in the looks department as well.

by Anonymousreply 31May 5, 2025 11:47 PM

For someone who most of the industry still believes is an invalid, it wasn't a good call to turn this down as it's likely that Disney didn't write many stunts in it for him, thus the lowered salary. Hope that losing those few extra dollars was worth it.

In his case, pride came before and after a fall.

by Anonymousreply 32May 5, 2025 11:59 PM

This was in the planning stages before Disney got an updated insurance quote on Jeremy, so they then made him an offer he could refuse.

by Anonymousreply 33May 6, 2025 12:21 AM

HAWKEYE!

by Anonymousreply 34May 6, 2025 5:39 AM

I wish he’d get it through his thick skull that he’s not the prize he thinks he is. Hawkeye is a mid-tier hero who is the most meh creation in the marvel universe. And renner is a void of charisma who is excruciating to watch.

by Anonymousreply 35May 6, 2025 5:53 AM

This can’t be true because according to women, men get paid top dollar and are overcompensated.

by Anonymousreply 36May 6, 2025 6:52 AM

That was cold blooded! Did they think he had TBI?

by Anonymousreply 37May 6, 2025 7:07 AM

R22, Robert Downey Jr
