I heard there was some controversy about the filming being a little too authentic.

I guess they’re going to try recouping whatever investment they can, but I don’t think it’ll be much. It might have been better career wise to let this movie die.

R2 Souza says he didn't want to finish it but Hutchins' family did.

r2- apparently all the profits are going to Halyna's family.

Two and a half years on from the accident, Rust is about to be released. It’s a solid piece of work, gorgeously photographed by Hutchins and Bianca Cline, the latter shooting the 50% or so of scenes that hadn’t been completed, as well as the ones that needed to be reshot as some of the original actors were no longer available.
Souza had insisted from the start on a female cinematographer, which is how he met Hutchins. “The agencies throw male candidates at you, but I know there are a lot of women coming out of the American Film Institute. Then somebody told me, ‘Women can’t shoot westerns.’ And I thought, ‘Fuck you. I’m going to stick that up your ass and only look at women.’”

I still don’t think people will go see it because of Baldwin.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | April 29, 2025 4:45 PM |
I'm dying to see it.

Well, I was going to watch for Jensen Ackles but I think his role has been removed completely.
I think he said it was because of scheduling conflicts and he couldn’t finish the filming.
So, no, no intention of watching this anymore.

It would be nice to see the cinematography to see Halyna's work; however, you probably would have no way of knowing (from scene to scene) which parts were shot by Halyna and which were shot by the secondary cinematographer they brought in.

Don’t see this in theaters. Some freak may try to prove a point.

^^ you mean Hilaria will bring all her brats, and they’ll just yak and eat and whine through the whole movie?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | April 29, 2025 6:32 PM |
R12 No I’m talking about fucking around and finding out
by Anonymous | reply 13 | April 29, 2025 6:35 PM |
No. Someone was killed, bury that film.

It was, how you say...bomb??

R15 The family of Halyna Hutchins wanted the movie finished, in memory of their daughter. The director Joel Souza, the surviving victim, reluctantly finished it on their behalf.
Fifty percent of the scenes that ended up in the movie were filmed by Hutchins.
No one is going to make money on this film because of the tragedy and most people avoiding watching or buying it. I will probably watch it, though, for several reasons, including a long history of enjoying Baldwin's acting performances. It wasn't until today I knew the movie had finally been completed and released.

I’m not interested. It has nothing to do with the accident. It has nothing to do with Baldwin. I just don’t like westerns.
