This is a fun Facebook account......some of it is literal TV listings but it's fun to see some of the ads or shows listed.
In love with the same man?
Uh, Kate, I hate to break it to you but......

I like how on channel 6 there’s just a “film.”

R1, the man looks a bit like Clu Gulager but he would have been too old for the two lesbians.

Who’s watching STONE tonight? It’s the gutsiest I’ve seen Dennis Weaver in AGES.

Oh, this is cool. The listing (and ad) from the premiere of A Charlie Brown Christmas.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | April 29, 2025 5:51 PM |
I don't remember Lady Bird appearing on The View. Let's see, in 1968 they should have had Virginia Graham... or was Arlene Francis still the moderator at that time? No way she would have gone on with Whoopi.

The guy in R1 is Jameson Parker. He played Jack, Buddy’s jogging partner. Buddy develops a crush on Jack and comes to discover than he and Nancy are intimately involved. What to do? What to do?

Afternoon fun at 2pm with the $20,000 Pyramid hosted by Dick Clark. Today’s celebrities are Mike Farrell and Peggy’s Ass as my mom used to call her.

by Anonymous | reply 37 | April 30, 2025 10:57 PM |
It’s easy. Just look for a local newscast or similar and Google the name and channel #. That’s how I confirmed Dayton for a page upthread.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | April 30, 2025 10:58 PM |
R36 The ads didn't give a lot of context, some listings give enough info to figure it out.
The postings on the FB page are from various markets, not only one. Found a few in my hometown market.

If you were home on a Friday night, ABC was the place to be. These are NYC metro area channels.
Note the C designation next to the show name noting that it was broadcast in color.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | April 30, 2025 11:08 PM |
My mother had saved this issue. I may still have it somewhere.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | April 30, 2025 11:12 PM |
IIRC correctly, channel numbers in the black box were the main ones available in the designation service area and channels in the clear boxes were nearby areas that partially overlapped but not available to all. The LA guide for example, would list some Santa Barbara stations, and so on.
(Different from UHF vs VHF)
by Anonymous | reply 44 | April 30, 2025 11:16 PM |
OP, that listing has San Francisco Bay Area stations, plus Sacramento and San Jose (SJC was not considered part of the Bay Area in 1968 as it was just fruit orchards, Frontier Village, and a stop on the way to Santa Cruz).
Who remembers turning that little dial within the big dial to tune into the UHF stations?
by Anonymous | reply 45 | April 30, 2025 11:18 PM |
R43 Interesting that you posted that. I saw on the Facebook page a page from a guide dated 11/22/1963 - clearly shows that were all preempted by the coverage of the assassination.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | April 30, 2025 11:19 PM |
If I recall correctly, channel 3 in the white box at R42 was a CT station. The channels in the black box were for NYC.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | April 30, 2025 11:21 PM |
R45: Definitely!
by Anonymous | reply 48 | April 30, 2025 11:37 PM |
I remember that big dial too R45. That and the aluminum foiled antenna ears we had.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | April 30, 2025 11:45 PM |
I bought that issue on eBay, R43. Where it is now in my home is a mystery.

For anyone who's into old TV obscurities, I highly recommend this YouTube channel. This guy has done an AMAZING job of finding clips, promos, and opening credits for every one-season only TV series for most of the '60s through the '90s. It's really fascinating. And he also often includes a "teaser" commercial featuring a performer from the next TV show to be mentioned.
If you watch his videos, you'll be amazed at the younger versions of some performers, and the VERY odd casting choices, as well as outrageous premises for a show. You'll also notice a trend of "copycatting" - one season will have a bunch of shows that were clearly ripoffs of another successful series. Or another season will have a bunch of shows based on movies. Yet another has a bunch of movie stars who tried (and failed) to make it on their own TV series.
I'm linking the 86-87 season, but if you subscribe to his channel you'll see lots more.
