Barbra teases "major announcement" for Wednesday, April 30
In her social media posts Thursday night, thanking fans for remembering her 83rd birthday, Barbra Streisand teased fans with a 'major announcement' coming on April 30. What, pray tell, can this big announcement be ?
The odds among fans favor the announcement will be she's releasing her long-awaited new studio album in the fall (most likely, at 83, the last album she'll be recording).
Many are saying it will be about her multi-part documentary and when it will be released.
Others are saying she's announcing another concert tour for this summer / the end of the year (doubtful, at 83).
Some are hoping a new movie - which will bookend her movie career (highly doubtful).
I think she'll announce she's closing her basement mall - too much competition from Amazon have driven tenants out.
I also think she may be announcing a 'special edition' of 'The Broadway Album' re-release to commemorate the 40th Anniversary in November.

If it's a children's story it will be about an unloved and lonely--but talented--little girl, whose inner beauty is unrecognized by her mother and whose talent is stolen by her sister. But the little girl wins out over both, and forgives them.

I miss her clear, beautiful tones. Her voice seemed to noticeably change around 1997's Higher Ground, when it became a little warmer and a little lower in register. From her 2006 tour on, it was at times, hoarser, but still strong, where it continues to this day.. But I'm still looking forward to this album just like I have all of the other ones in the past. She's been a lifelong soundtrack to my life. I'm glad we still have her around.

That photo was taken by her daughter in law Kathryn Brolin. What do you suppose they were going for in that photo (other than the obvious point it looks like she's taking a dump in her garden)? Her arms are in such an unnatural pose, her boobs look extremely droopy (and you can see through the sweaters to her underwear), and the lighting emphasizes her split ends. Do you think she looked at it and thought, "I look like such a natural woman! Plus, everyone just loves my profile! And the colors of my outfit--magical!"

Do a dance album and truly tie into her gay fanbase. A duet with Rupaul on "It's Raining Men" and have Cher and her do a duet of "The Boy is Mine". Pride is coming. The community would eat that shit up. Do a video with a bunch of Streisand impersonators.

How can an 83 year old's singing voice sound so different than her speaking voice ? Oh yeah - the magic of autotune and technology in the recording studio.
I remembr about 25 years ago, when Dionne Warwick started traveling down the 'duet' route on her albums, and recording and producing with 'younger talent' (hip-hop singers, R&B singers who were popular at the time). Streisand fans laughed their asses off, saying Warwick was 'desperate' and she was trying to attract younger listeners (that was her attempt, and she did attract them - none of the duets were anywhere near 'embarrassing'). They swore Streisand would never ever stoop to this in her career, relying on duets albums with younger singers.
Sure.

Generally speaking, the bottom falls out of a singer’s voice at age 70. In years past, singers like Rosemary Clooney started talking lyrics as their voice wained with age. In today world, technology fills in the gaps. Streisand, being the queen of editing and effects to enhance her singing in records, will take anything available to make her 83 year old voice sound like it’s 50.

It's interesting that when it comes to female singers, she's only dueted with two of her peers - Donna Summer ( who gave her a run for the title of best female singer) and Kim Carnes, five years later. Before that, she dueted with Judy Garland who was 20 years her senior. After Summer and Carnes, she started doing spordic duets with females decades younger than she. Why didn't she ever duet with her female peers from 1985 - present ? Why nothing with Olivia Newton-John, Dolly Parton, Carly Simon, Dionne Warwick, Diana Ross, Gladys Knight, etc. over the past 40 years ? I'd rather one of those duets than her awful duet with Celine Dion.
(There was almost a duet with ONJ on 'The Broadway Album' in 1985, but it never came to fruition).

R149 It was actually supposed to be a trio with Streisand, Summer and Ross. That was Jabara's plan as he witnessed the two divas (Summer, Streisand) recording 'No More Tears'. He knew this was going to be a major hit (it was), and he rushed home to pen another 'wet themed' dance song for the two of them to record, then he had the idea of Ross joining them.
Summer dropped out, as she didn't like using the word 'Hallelujah' in the song (she had just become a born-again Christian), so Jabara figured rather than alter the song for Summer, it would be a duet with Streisand / Ross. However, Berry Gordy couldn't reach a deal with Columbia Records in time.

Dionne was kidding, R153. I can understand why her worshiping fans got bent out of shape, but if Babs herself was offended by what Dionne said, she really is a deluded as they say.

Barbie and I are just fine between us. A+ peers are A+ peers, even though I did re-fuse to keep sharing my blow around her. That nose was like a fucking industrial ventilation system. Fast, too! From across the room behind my back.
And, honestly, have I ever looked like I wanted to get into a breathing contest with her at the peak or end of a duet? She thought that holding a note until her pussy farted was some kind of proof of real passionate emotion.
Air kiss, R155.

R157 Also used to describe Lucille Ball in the 'Mame' thread. I guess the poster has a tough time accepting successful female celebrities, so he describes them all as 'delusional'. (I don't think he knows what the word means).
