Written and directed by Jesse Armstrong, creator of Succession.

Why is Steve Carrell in everything! Jesus Christ, enough of this one already.

I want that chess set.

Sorry, Nicole. There wasn't a role for a 34-year-old mom with a five-year-old child

You know a movie sucks when the house is the star of the show. What a disappointment.

I hated it. Schwartzman and Carell were miscast (Schwartzman is painful to look at, for starters) The other two were fine. Bad writing. Why the fuck was there a scene about no running water without a payoff later on?

All that food which wasn't eaten.

Did the turbot ever come out of the oven?

I wonder which of the four actors had their chests shaved for the bit when their net worth was revealed one by one. I should think Schwartzman and Youseff are hairy bastards.

Lord, this was bad. I got to the scene where the Elon Musk character makes his baby crawl on the freezing driveway and turned it off.

Jesse Armstrong, like David Chase before him, is better at writing television than feature films. This was hell to sit through and watch.

Armstrong is probably the worst example of somebody who is too smart for his own good and jargony when he should be steeped in philosophy (even if that means being jargony to get there). He clearly said something to Carell about The Office because the layering in all those Michael Scott-isms come off as so sloppy. It’s easily the most Michael Scott in a Steve Carell performance since The Office. Which is why he’s so dreadful in this thing.
Armstrong is a great writer who needs great directors and editors. It will be very interesting where he goes from here. He is not a stupid man. He must know he dropped a deuce on us this time.

Well, I’m an outlier…I liked it.

I'm not going to watch it because it parallels our reality too closely and I'm just not in a mood for that. However, I did listen to a review of it on a TV podcast and they praised Cory Michael Smith's standout performance. Nice to see him thrive, been following his career for a long time.
