Also known as "The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre", this batshit sequel/quasi-remake turns 30 this year. It marked Renee Zellweger and Matthew McConaughey's first major roles. Critics compared Leatherface in it to Divine. The family orders takeout pizza instead of eating human BBQ. No one actually dies by chainsaw. Debbie Harry recorded a song for it with Robert Jacks, a gay Texas radio host who played Leatherface. Also, the character of Heather is fucking hilarious and should be a DL icon. It is my favorite sequel in the entire franchise.
Can we discuss "Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation" (1995)?

The single Debbie Harry recorded with Jacks for the film. The German title, "Der Einziger Weg" is grammatically incorrect (should be "Der Einzige Weg").

Robert Jacks seemed like a real character (and a fun guy). Here he is being interviewed by Sandra Bernhard about making the film. He tells a funny anecdote about going to a local H-E-B pharmacy in the early morning with Renee to buy lipstick, and people being horrified by her appearance because she had bruises all over her body.

I saw this at a midnight screening at the Dobie Theater in Austin back in 1997 probably. I don't think there were 10 total people in the audience which is surprising for a cult movie sequel in a movie-loving college town. It's very much a WTF viewing experience but not in a way that made me want to watch it again. I love weird, bad horror movies but I've never revisited this one aside from bits and pieces caught on cable over the years. I never saw the original, longer cut of the movie; not sure if that would help or make it even more of a chore.

R3 the longer “original” cut is not too different other than a scene at the beginning where Renee’s character is abused by her stepfather. Most of the other differences are minor.

It is the most DL-appropriate "Texas Chainsaw" movie, no doubt. The Detroit Free Press wrote that the film "turns poor Leatherface into a whimpering drag queen".

Matthew was hot as fuck in this movie (and utterly deranged, but that is probably part of the appeal).
