He’s not very friendly to the hoi polloi. My friends and I saw him on South Street in Philadelphia. We waved to him across the street and said hello. Anyone who is this guy’s age or older knows how much hard work it takes to look like that. That means his body is his job, which means he must be pretty vapid and have nothing else to do all day. You have to be spending 10 of your 16 waking hours at the gym, watching what you eat, planning. Unless you are super genetically lucky, an athlete or personal training making money from your body - it’s sad to be that age and your body being your calling card.

I first read about him on Outsports. He then spoke to the athletes at the college where I teach. He gave a nice talk about his own life. I went u to him afterwards to thank him for what he was doing from one gay man to another. He wasn't dismissive, but I got the impression that he was rather tired of it all. Completely different experience from what I had with Richard Blanco, the poet who penned and recited a poem for Obama's inauguration. After he spoke at my university, I went up to him to thank him and tell him what it was like to see another gay man recognized. He couldn't have been kinder, and he was an engaged listener.

I've followed Sims since hearing him talk, and he has struck me as a guy with a chip on his shoulder. Maybe he's mad because he has not had much luck as a politician. He comes off as a prick.

IMHO, neither Sims nor Fiennes have primo nips. They are a bit on the small side and Sims downward points are unfortunate. Both have nicely lean muscular physiques but I prefer broader furrier guys with a bit of beef or chunk.

A coworker and I were discussing why it’s so easy to tell Ozempic weight loss from natural weight loss, and she pointed out that with natural weight loss (i.e., diet and exercise), the increased definition and muscle tone offsets the fat loss. Ozempic weight loss makes people look like they have been starved for a few months. It’s not a healthy look IMO.

Ozempic/Wegovy/Zepbound is "natural". The patient just eats less. I don't know why people keep thinking it does something else.

Now, yes, the drug suppresses appetite, makes you feel fuller longer, etc. but the weight loss is just from calorie restriction just like any diet. If you didn't take Ozempic, and just ate carrots, you would look the same. The drug is not causing it.

They do encourage patients to exercise and eat lots of protein to combat the loss of muscle (and the Ozempic "look"). I don't know how many patients do that (I do but maybe I'm an outlier).
