Thunderbolts poised to flop

This was transparently a terrible idea for a movie. Feige doesn’t understand public tastes anymore.

Anything to get that pig Florence Pugh off of screens.

by Anonymousreply 1April 11, 2025 10:47 AM

This movie will do fine. Just wait and see.

by Anonymousreply 2April 11, 2025 11:38 AM

Indistinguishable, undistinguished superhero "franchise" movies had some hot asses, but they couldn't last forever.

by Anonymousreply 3April 11, 2025 1:51 PM

At least the musical genre enjoyed 40 years of popularity.

From the advent of sound in the late 1920s to the advent of New Hollywood in the late 1960s.

by Anonymousreply 4April 11, 2025 1:59 PM

I hate seeing the stars of a new movie in a stupid commercial.....lately it's been Snow White, Captain America, and now Thunderbolts.

by Anonymousreply 5April 11, 2025 1:59 PM

Florence Pugh was quite funny and charismatic as this character in Black Widow and in the Hawkeye series.

by Anonymousreply 6April 11, 2025 2:02 PM

It's been getting good word of mouth from those who have seen it.

Especially the actress who plays Ghost.

by Anonymousreply 7April 11, 2025 2:09 PM

Does DL hate new young actors just to hate them?

by Anonymousreply 8April 11, 2025 2:23 PM

Tell us about public taste, OP.

by Anonymousreply 9April 11, 2025 2:27 PM

[Quote] Florence Pugh was quite funny and charismatic as this character in Black Widow and in the Hawkeye series.

She’s very talented. And she seems like a genuinely sweet person.

A lot of the hate for her seems to derive from the fact that she’s not an off-the-shelf Hollywood cupcake.

by Anonymousreply 10April 11, 2025 2:31 PM

This should have been on streaming platform.

by Anonymousreply 11April 11, 2025 3:26 PM

R11 Oh it will.

by Anonymousreply 12April 11, 2025 3:36 PM

I didn't like this the first time I saw it and it was called "Suicide Squad."

by Anonymousreply 13April 11, 2025 3:40 PM

It's not like Thunderbolts is a popular or well known IP.

This movie actually has to be good. If it is good word of mouth will lead to better business. It is it is bad it will flop.

by Anonymousreply 14April 11, 2025 3:43 PM

That’s so profound, r14

by Anonymousreply 15April 11, 2025 4:35 PM

Apparently, it's a lot like, "Guardians of the Galaxy," which means it should do well, however unlike Guardians of the Galaxy the group is not well known.

by Anonymousreply 16April 11, 2025 9:31 PM

What do you mean, r16? Do you mean this comic book group, or the actors?

by Anonymousreply 17April 11, 2025 11:03 PM

R17 the comic.

by Anonymousreply 18April 12, 2025 12:19 AM

Just got back from seeing it and really loved it. They were smart and focused less on action/explosions and more on the characters and how they interact with one another. Some real touching moments.

Much better than that Red Hulk crap I saw a few weeks back.

Sets up F4, too.

by Anonymousreply 19May 2, 2025 12:16 AM

Honestly can’t believe people are STILL watching superhero movies. Jesus Christ give it a rest already.

by Anonymousreply 20May 2, 2025 12:21 AM

[quote] however unlike Guardians of the Galaxy the group is not well known.

The Guardians of the Galaxy were not well known when the movie was made. They were a very much lesser Marvel superhero group.

by Anonymousreply 21May 2, 2025 12:24 AM

I’m sick of Marvel movies.

by Anonymousreply 22May 2, 2025 12:42 AM

The little blond is a very good actor

by Anonymousreply 23May 2, 2025 12:57 AM

People are tired of Marvel, point blank, and they have been for years. They need to give the whole franchise a rest.

by Anonymousreply 24May 2, 2025 12:58 AM

[quote] Anything to get that pig Florence Pugh off of screens.

Superhero movies need to return to the successful formula of a male superhero saving a female character and the world.

by Anonymousreply 25May 2, 2025 1:01 AM

[Quote] The little blond is a very good actor

Florence Pugh. Yes she is. I’m a fan.

by Anonymousreply 26May 2, 2025 1:05 AM

[quote]The Guardians of the Galaxy were not well known when the movie was made. They were a very much lesser Marvel superhero group.

Let me clarify: Thunderbolts is a lot like the Guardians film franchise where it's about relationships and interactions while action happens on occasion.

However, they're not an established film franchise. They're basically Guardians 1 (2014) where as Guardians 3 (2023) did well because people already knew what it was.

by Anonymousreply 27May 2, 2025 1:36 AM

[quote]I’m sick of Marvel movies.

One moment, I'll alert the media.

by Anonymousreply 28May 2, 2025 4:09 AM

I love Bucky and I extra love Sebastian Stan. He has It and so does Florence.

The hubs and I are going to see it Saturday night in a real movie thee-ay-ter.

Yippee!

by Anonymousreply 29May 2, 2025 4:21 AM

They were going to pull Sinners from IMAX early for this shit and have decided not to since Sinners is still doing big numbers.

by Anonymousreply 30May 2, 2025 4:25 AM

Regarding [r-29] [myself]:edit : “ ….are going to see it…..” should have been “are going to see Thunderbolts”……

Sometimes I get a little overexcited when I post.

Everyone gets to shine in this....well, Taskmaster, not so much....

by Anonymousreply 32May 2, 2025 7:20 AM

The critics liked it, as did the audience. 88% of all critics, 90+% of top critics. I generally ignore the audience scores because Marvel has often go review-bombed. I still take 95% audience with a grain of salt. But it looks good, the buzz is positive, and it's going to do well

Just got back from it. Pretty good overall. Flo Pugh carries the film almost completely. The action scenes are good, but the movie is mostly about the character interactions. Lewis Pullman is pretty much a carbon copy of his dad. The second post-credits scene was worth the wait.

by Anonymousreply 34May 3, 2025 11:53 PM

I saw it a couple of days ago. I liked it. Florence was really good.
