Oh look a shot of the four women walking together in slow motion. How original.

by Anonymousreply 1April 10, 2025 12:20 AM

oh hell yeah, i am watching this!

by Anonymousreply 2April 10, 2025 12:21 AM

the trailer is NOT promising.

by Anonymousreply 3April 10, 2025 12:21 AM

They offered Madonna the 4th lead but she was offended and hung up.

by Anonymousreply 4April 10, 2025 12:22 AM

Where the white women at?!

by Anonymousreply 5April 10, 2025 12:23 AM

[quote] They offered Madonna

This phrase has not been uttered in the movie biz for at least 15 years.

by Anonymousreply 6April 10, 2025 12:24 AM

Susan Sarandon's plastic surgery needs a Smithsonian exhibit.

She looks incredible!

by Anonymousreply 7April 10, 2025 12:24 AM

Also starring Drea de Matteo and Linda Cardellini.

by Anonymousreply 8April 10, 2025 12:25 AM

The multinational original is much more interesting than tired stereotypes

I was good until Susan Sarandon appeared.

by Anonymousreply 10April 10, 2025 12:27 AM

I was good until Billy Joel sang.

by Anonymousreply 11April 10, 2025 12:28 AM

Drea de Matteo is a tRump lover, fuck her

by Anonymousreply 12April 10, 2025 12:28 AM

Is there a homosexual son involved?

by Anonymousreply 13April 10, 2025 12:28 AM

I'm surprised they didn't shoe-horn in some diversity and hope no one would notice that one of the Italian-American grandmothers was Black.

by Anonymousreply 14April 10, 2025 12:29 AM

There’re all Black

by Anonymousreply 15April 10, 2025 12:32 AM

How did Joe Manganiello ever find time in his busy game show schedule to film this?

by Anonymousreply 16April 10, 2025 12:34 AM

Nonnas watch party on DL - 05/09.

by Anonymousreply 17April 10, 2025 12:39 AM

[quote]They offered Madonna the 4th lead but she was offended and hung up.

You should've heard Catherine Zeta-Jones's response.

by Anonymousreply 18April 10, 2025 1:27 AM

I guess Nicole Kidman was too busy.

And there probably wasn't a role for an actress playing Vince Vaughn's daughter.

by Anonymousreply 19April 10, 2025 3:12 AM

The movies never get Italian-Americans right. Maybe Marty (1955), not since.

by Anonymousreply 20April 13, 2025 5:21 PM

Watched with my mom. Happy Mother's Day.

Lorraine Bracco is Gruff Nonna. Brenda Vaccaro is Earthy Nonna. Talia Shire is Mousy Nonna. And Susan Sarandon is Va-Va-Voom Nonna. All pros but Brenda steals it.

No shirtless scenes with Joe M, unfortunately.

This is one of those movie restaurants with four chefs, no sous or prep cook, no servers or bussers (really). The kitchen set on "It's a Living" is more realistic.

And, yes, if you're allergic to things like four older women walking toward the camera in slow motion while "These Boots Are Made For Walking" comes on the soundtrack, rent Salò or something.

by Anonymousreply 21May 10, 2025 3:57 AM

You lost me at Vince Vaughn.

by Anonymousreply 22May 10, 2025 4:04 AM

Lorraine Bracco I like.

by Anonymousreply 23May 10, 2025 4:05 AM

Joe Man Jello!

by Anonymousreply 24May 10, 2025 4:12 AM

Miz Sarandon must really have to pay her mortgage these days.

by Anonymousreply 25May 10, 2025 4:13 AM

That looks horrific.

by Anonymousreply 26May 10, 2025 9:07 AM

Is Vaccaro's casting really just stealth tampon product placement?

by Anonymousreply 27May 10, 2025 9:17 AM

Lorraine Bracco is a treasure and I would give anything to spend a boozy lunch with her where she just gossips for two hours

by Anonymousreply 28May 10, 2025 9:43 AM

New York Times pan.

...corn-filled gabagool...From the homily-stuffed script (“food is love,” “beautiful is a feeling”) to the relentlessly on-the-button soundtrack (please god, no more “Funiculì Funiculà”), “Nonnas” serves up ethnic comedy on a platter of ham and cheese.

Vince Vaughn is a Trumper.

Ugly no-eyed Sopranos chick is a Trumper.

Saggy-tittied Mc-Bug Eyes is a Trumper as far as I’m concerned since she helped him get elected the first time.

Fuck this movie.

by Anonymousreply 30May 10, 2025 11:49 AM

You sound deranged R30. Take your pills and get out of that dirty ancient house, find some normal women to hang out with, breathe some fresh air. Go back home and please, stay the fuck off gay men’s discussion forums. You politics fraus are literally the scourge of society.

by Anonymousreply 31May 10, 2025 12:06 PM

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would.

R14, one of the nonna's reveals how "diverse" she is (diversity is more than just skin color, have you not learned that YET??).

r7 Susan Sarandond does look amazing. She's 78 years old!

Brenda Vacccaro is great as is Talia Shire. I've never been a huge Linda Cardellini fan, but I really like her in this!

Joe Mango Jello is fine!

by Anonymousreply 32May 10, 2025 1:30 PM

It's about a bunch of Bachagaloops?

Madonn!

by Anonymousreply 33May 10, 2025 1:44 PM

Joe is a brother.

R31 People who are so privileged they can ignore politics are the scourge of society.

by Anonymousreply 35May 10, 2025 2:06 PM

I have to turn away when Vince Vaughn pops up on screen, his gigantic head looks like some bike pustule about to explode.

by Anonymousreply 36May 10, 2025 2:58 PM

I can't look at Susan Sarandon.

by Anonymousreply 37May 10, 2025 3:09 PM

Love Brenda Vacaro...why isnt she in more things.

by Anonymousreply 38May 10, 2025 3:43 PM

[quote]Susan Sarandon

CUNT

by Anonymousreply 39May 10, 2025 3:52 PM

I was wondering when R39 would show up.

by Anonymousreply 40May 10, 2025 4:17 PM

[quote]Love Brenda Vacaro...why isnt she in more things.

Because Brenda Vaccaro keeps stealing her roles.

by Anonymousreply 41May 10, 2025 4:42 PM

Vaughn is a Trumper? Interesting. I hadn’t heard that before. How unfortunate.

by Anonymousreply 42May 10, 2025 4:57 PM

Agree with the other commenters that Susan Sarandon looks incredible. Fuck. I need the names of her medspa people.

by Anonymousreply 43May 10, 2025 5:23 PM

R37 = Deb Messing

R39 = Also Deb!

by Anonymousreply 44May 10, 2025 5:39 PM

Trumper Vince Vaughn. Sorry, it's not a hard pass.

by Anonymousreply 45May 10, 2025 5:52 PM

I’M ITALIAN!!!

by Anonymousreply 46May 10, 2025 5:59 PM

R31 I have you blocked. Sounds like you've licked Trump's taint before this thread and you keep on lickin'. It's not "deranged" to not support Trumpers. In fact, it's the thing to do in polite society. Now, head on over to Elmer's in Palm Springs for the early bird special. I hear the owner is a Trumper, too!

by Anonymousreply 47May 11, 2025 7:19 PM

I liked it.

I do think the script could've been punched up a little more.

by Anonymousreply 48May 14, 2025 3:49 AM

We've just started watching it. It's pretty good so far.

by Anonymousreply 49May 19, 2025 11:20 PM

This actually looks good.

by Anonymousreply 50May 19, 2025 11:38 PM

As an Italian-American, I'm tired of all the tired tropes in these movies. Cannoli is not the only Italian pastry Italians eat (but they're served in every movie / TV series featuring Italians). Same with lasagna and spaghetti and meatballs. We all don't talk like Sylvester Stallone.

Joe Manganiello was the standout in the movie - he should've been the lead, not the horrible Vince Vaughn, who has no talent. (At least Joe Manganiello shows emotion when he's acting). Talia Shire was very good and gave an honest performance. The other three were stereotypes, as usual.

Overall, C -.

by Anonymousreply 51May 19, 2025 11:43 PM

Does Brenda ((((((WHEEZE))))))) between every ((((((WHEEZE))))))) line?

by Anonymousreply 52May 19, 2025 11:44 PM

[quote]Love Brenda Vacaro...why isnt she in more things.

She's 85, but she has had a full career on stage, screen and TV.

Linda Cardellini looks great, she’s 50, Vince Vaughn is 55, but they look exactly 5 years apart in age; I didn’t buy them as prom dates.

by Anonymousreply 54July 4, 2025 3:24 PM

No thank you 😒

by Anonymousreply 55July 4, 2025 4:33 PM

Any big Italian cocks in this besides Brenda’s?

by Anonymousreply 56July 4, 2025 5:05 PM

[quote] We all don't talk like Sylvester Stallone.

Sly is Jewish. Not many people seem to know that. Jackie was Jewish.

by Anonymousreply 57July 4, 2025 5:06 PM

Brenda gives the best interviews. Last year she talked about telling Faye Dunaway to go fuck herself after she was treating everyone on set like shit.

by Anonymousreply 58July 4, 2025 5:07 PM

I thought Nonnas would be a a delightful romp, an ethnic version of a film starring Diane Keaton/Jane Fonda/Lily Tomlin.

It’s actually pretty depressing and shows the reality of get-out-of-our-neighbourhood locals.

by Anonymousreply 59July 4, 2025 5:14 PM

[quote] I liked it. I do think the script could've been punched up a little more.

The problem with the film was the directing.

Apparently the restaurant was only frequented by friends and family. We didn’t see a single patron eat there. Not one meal being served to one of these friends and families. Until one of the women mentioned that, I assumed even they didn’t show up.
