Can you imagine seeing that the last thing you see before you die is that face while he tortures you in many gruesome ways (some of which include carving you up while still alive)?

And apparently, his daughter has delved heavily into macabre and violent art, which she's posted online. They didn't talk about this in the Gone Girls Netflix special, but some of her art depicts dissection of a corpse and other gory shit. You can google it...it's out there.

Also, the art was made and posted online BEFORE her father was arrested.

Apparently the local cops were really corrupt for most of his killing spree. IIRC the police chief or the DA went to prison.

I thought the drone footage of the ocean parkway area was very helpful in terms of allowing someone not from Long Island to visualize the geography. It’s difficult to describe in words.

I wonder what the detectives are looking at now. My understanding is that once they’d read the file, they knew where to look for blood in the basement. How many DNA samples are there in that basement? Are they comparing missing person timelines to the wife’s trips going back to the 90s? Where were his investment properties exactly? Why don’t they know the identities of the lady boy and toddler from the DNA yet? Are they interviewing the creepy daughter to see if he involved her at all? Did either Rex or Jimmy Burke have any connection to Shannon Gilbert’s John? And how did RH find a wife as ogre looking as himself?

So many questions

Burke was a New York City police officer in the 1980s. He later began working for the Suffolk County Police Department in Suffolk County, New York. In 1995, a Suffolk County Police Department internal probe found that Burke had "had a relationship with a woman engaged in prostitution and drug dealing, and had engaged in sex acts in police vehicles while on duty and in uniform".

Burke was appointed chief of the Suffolk County Police Department by Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone in 2012 and served in that capacity until 2015.

During his tenure as chief, Burke supervised the investigation of the Gilgo Beach serial killings. Burke's work on the Gilgo Beach case, "including a decision to end cooperation with the FBI", drew criticism from other law enforcement officials.

In August 2023, Burke was arrested for public lewdness, offering a sex act, and unlawful solicitation after allegedly exposing himself to a male plainclothes park ranger at Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park in Farmingville and propositioning him

From the first time I saw Burke on the local news I knew he was slime and with a lot of dark stuff going on. The report wasn't even about him, he was being interviewed. Something about him reminded me of John Wayne Gacy, especially when he was in his uniform.

Between all the vocal fry and duh long guyland accents, it's a bit annoying to watch. The accents I understand, all the vocal fry I don't, even some of the guys have it.

The mother and toddler were finally identified.

I wanted to post sooner but I was sent to the corner for two days for reasons that are unclear. It might have been my snarky, though funny, comment about St. Michelle O.

What is really interesting about this is that there is a serial killer living and working among us in Midtown, a place many around the world are familiar with. It shows this underside of normal life that is fascinating. It hints are a nefarious relationship between Burke and Spota. Something was going on, the case languished for years until there were new faces in power.
