God, I miss that woman.
In 1970
She fell through a plate glass window. Reese's daughter found a neighbor (who also happened to be a doctor) to help her contact paramedics. According to the Tucson Daily Citizen, Reese had "severe body lacerations" when she arrived at the UCLA Medical Center. The newspaper also reported that she underwent a three-hour surgery to repair the injury and remained in the hospital for nearly one month.[83] "[Doctors said] I was gonna die so many times, I may not die at all". Ultimately, she received one thousand stitches and made a full recovery with the help of physical therapy.[9]

While singing "Little Boy Lost" on a taping of The Tonight Show in October 1979, Reese suffered a brain aneurysm[84] According to Reese, she was taken to two Los Angeles hospitals, which assumed she had a drug "overdose" because she was "Black and an entertainer". Reese's son was a psychiatrist sent for her physician who "came immediately" to prove there were no drugs in Reese's system.[50] A test officially revealed the aneurysm and Reese was sent to a brain surgeon at a London, Ontario hospital. The surgeon ultimately performed a five-hour surgery on Reese before she lost vision in her left eye. She ultimately made a full recovery and credited her spiritual faith in helping her recover.[84]

My junior year of college, I got a summer job as a typist for a law firm. Yes, I am old. It was in an office with three older ladies. We just sat and typed whatever they needed all day.
There was one radio in the room that the women kept tuned to some terrible station that just played garbage. It must have been a loop because the same songs would play over and over again.
"Walking My Baby Back Home" by Nat King Cole
"Eres Tu" by someone I don't remember
and "April Love" by Pat Boone.
The two songs I actually started to like by the end of the summer were "Round and Round" by Perry Como and this little Della Reese number....

Remember back in either the 90's or early 2000's she or someone claiming to be her posted on DL. Someone said some shady things on here and she responded, defending herself.

R5, that was an interesting link. I wonder if you know that that is a popular song made out of a very famous aria from La Boheme by Puccini, called Musetta's Waltz. (Quando men vo)

In the 70s, The National Lampoon featured a fake TV Guide with this sadly fake Cop show: T.W.A.T. (for Tough Women's Attack Team) , starring Della Reese as "Fist", Mercedes McCambridge as "Ms. Big", and Bella Abzug as "Lil' Chunky".
I would have watched the shit out of that show.

r5 here...
Believe it or not, it was the late 90s.
There were certain things back then that were not to be done by computer. I honestly don't remember why. We also faxed things like there was no tomorrow.
The radio was like a pre-serious type of thing that was a subscription service. Kind of like grocery store music. The women got to decide which channel they played in the office, and that was it. Since I was a summer temp, I had no say.

When you walk down the road Heavy burden, heavy load I will rise and I will walk with you When you walk through the night And you feel like you want to just give up, give up, give up on the fight I will come and I will walk with you Walk with you Until the sun don't even shine Walk with you I'll be there all the time I tell you I'll walk with you See you through When you walk from this place And you gotta go to meet Him face to face Take my hand and I will walk with you
Touched By a Fucking Angel!
