New wave of migrants are crossing our borders 🐆

A jaguar couple are seen crossing from Mexico into Arizona. Climate change will mean more tropical species will begin moving northward (the armadillo, among others, has been making a progressive move toward the northeast.)

Bad link, OP.

Link worked for me. I thought the big cats in N. America are solitary.

Good link, r1.

They heard from their leopard cousins that there were lots of faces to feast upon.

It’s happening with birds and fish/marine life as well. A few of the Southern birds are starting to establish here in New Jersey.

The challenge for a lot of the marine species is how erratic things have become. The average water temp in a certain region of the sea might rise 2 degrees celsius over a century, on average, but year to year it’s all over the place and that can devastate species that cannot (or don’t know how to) just pivot and migrate.

We do have armadillos now in the Midwest. Disgusting creatures.

If they can afford to drive a Jaguar, aren't they the kind of immigrants we like?

by Anonymousreply 12August 11, 2025 2:12 PM
