UFC champion Khabib removed from Alaska Airlines flight after kerfuffle with flight attendant
Khabib was seated in the exit aisle, flight attendant asked him to move or be escorted off the plane.
[quote] The flight attendant says, "We cannot allow you to sit in the exit row … I am not going to do this back and forth. I’ll go call a supervisor. You can either take a different seat or we can go ahead and escort you off the plane."
[quote]Nurmagomedov appears visibly frustrated by the situation and responds, "It’s not fair" while maintaining he fully complied with the flight crew during the check in process. He tells the flight attendant, "When I was in check-in, they asked me do I know English… and I say yes. Then why you guys do this?"
[quote] Despite the UFC legend’s pushback, a supervisor was brought onto the plane and allegedly gave Nurmagomedov the option to switch seats or to take another flight. When no resolution was reached, Nurmagomedov was removed from the plane.
Doesn't he have enough money to pay for business class?

All passengers must obey flight crew’s instructions. You can fight it with the airline later, after you’re off the plane. You don’t get to fight it while on board the aircraft.

I think he did comply reasonably quickly. What he didn’t do was agree to take a seat different from the one he had either booked or confirmed at check in. I have no idea who this guy is. How big is he? I would not be happy about being asked to move from an extra legroom seat I had arranged. Also, his English seems fine (although it’s hard to hear). But maybe he did something weird prior to the video.

He had no business being in that position.

Now that exit row seats often come at additional cost, I don't think it's unreasonable to ask the flight attendant to justify why they would move him.

I'm not sure I understand this story. Are we supposed to think they didn't want him to sit in the exit row because his English wasn't perfect and he might not understand their instructions in an emergency?

R7, Russians are ridiculous and come up with the most batshit explanations for their behavior.

I believe that's what he would like you to think

Basically whatever Russians say, assume it's the opposite. Habitual liars.

Why doesn't this proud Russian go fight for Putin in Ukraine?

r10 Except there's video footage of the FA being unable to put forward any reason for removing him other than "feeling uncomfortable". And where exactly is he meant to have lied at all? In his IG post he says he doesn't know why he was asked to move.

R12, Russians get no benefit of the doubt from me. Homophobes, drunks, doping cheats, wife-beaters, Medicare frauds.
Anybody who has had the misfortune of living alongside these cretins, know it's true.

According to what he posted on X, it was Frontier Airlines. At first I thought maybe he was considered too big to sit at an emergency exit, but according to Wikipedia, he's only 5'10". His English seemed fine to me. It will be interesting to find out what the rest of the story is. Frontier says they are investigating it.

If he's such a goddamn hot-shot what the hell is doing flying Frontier with the hoi polloi?

His carryon bag isn’t stored correctly in the overhead.

Bitch, you don’t have to understand why you were asked to move.
When the flight crew tells you to move, you move!

Focus on the flight attendant, "my flight attendants"... She was intent on removing him. His English is fine, he's not overly tall or big. I believe she or another attendant profiled this Muslim man. Funny thing is, his family was heavily involved in preventing young members from embracing extreme Islam. I hope he sues and gets a hefty payment. I was impressed by his calm and respectful tone unlike disruptive American shit stirrers.

Flying on Alaska Airlines is a privilege, NOT a right.
Why doesn’t he go fly RAYANI AIR if he doesn’t care for our customs??

And what "custom" was he disrespecting, asshole?

The fact that we do what flight crews directs us to, for everyone’s safety concerns… not to mention itineraries.
You see, when you delay departures or disembarking by arguing, you’re endangering everyone’s connecting flights. But some people think they’re more important than the group.

There’s nothing more American than not following orders on a plane, actually.

r21 The only one thinking they're more important than everyone else in this case is the FA, who couldn't even give a reason for the request he move.

Why is he so invested in keeping that particular seat, tho? Is his drug dealer meeting him there, later, with a delivery?
It’s suspicious.

Of course, wanting the extra legroom you paid for is "suspicious".

I think this guy was profiled and shafted by a cunty sky waitress.
What he really needed was a cup of really hot coffee.

People need to be disabused of the belief that they have a “right” to be given a reason.

R24, I’m guessing he was profiled pre-flight & an FAA Marshall wanted him seated elsewhere within line of sight for observation during the flight.
If one views this situation in the context of recent flight catastrophes involving Russia, it makes a bit more sense.

R24 I am over 6 feet tall and always pay for a premium seat upgrade for more leg room. I've never flown Frontier, so I don't know how it works on that airline. On Delta and American, the emergency exit seats are premium seats. Good luck getting refunded for the extra you paid. I would have asked "why?", too.

I’d be interested in knowing if he had checked luggage and if they knew whether or not he did. I’m wondering if they would have issued the move or disembark ultimatum if they had to delay the flight while removing his checked bags.
Because it shouldn’t make a difference if there’s really a legitimate concern about him. So if he had bags they had to deal with, I’d lean more towards the airline. If he didn’t, it doesn’t prove anything either way.
