It's weird for many reasons. What is with that old guy's insanely white teeth, for one thing.
That weird Trivago commercial that's so inescapable right now

And, no pic or link, OP???? Your are worse then Trump and Musk combined.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | January 9, 2025 10:31 PM |
It escaped me.

I'm fascinated by the aesthetics of prescription drug ads. They are really selling the good life, and they're an interesting commentary on how the good life is perceived.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | January 9, 2025 10:35 PM |
Yes OP! We laugh and scream every time he reveals those monstrous choppers
by Anonymous | reply 4 | January 9, 2025 10:46 PM |
I've seen him on something else, but can't recall where. You never forget seeing those teeth!!
by Anonymous | reply 5 | January 9, 2025 11:09 PM |
His name is James Sheldon, and he's British. Though, they use AI to make him speak different languages.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | January 9, 2025 11:12 PM |
I need to see the ad again, R6, but might he be Tim Williams, the original Trivago guy?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | January 9, 2025 11:45 PM |
The two of them look alike (at least to me.)
by Anonymous | reply 8 | January 9, 2025 11:46 PM |
They have using (what sounds like) an Italian accent. I tried to find a record of the words in the commercial because for the life of me, I can't figure out the last thing he says before he breezes out.
Anyone know? Something like "it's my secret" but it's not that. Every time it comes on, I try to figure it out and just can't. Lip reading is not helpful either.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | January 10, 2025 3:56 AM |
He's some German soccer coach, and apparently the sound is dubbed.
Someone on Reddit referred to the teeth as Muppet White. I'm going with that.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | January 10, 2025 4:01 AM |
Ok, it just came on again, and the last line starts with "Trivago is..." and I can't understand the rest.
Anyone? Sometimes wish commercials have close captioning as well.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | January 10, 2025 4:03 AM |
It excaped me.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | January 10, 2025 5:22 AM |
The multiple posting of the same ad is really annoying. 🙄
by Anonymous | reply 13 | January 10, 2025 7:01 AM |
Eureka! And a slap to my head! R4, R6, R10
The guy with the teeth is Jürgen Klopp, former Liverpool manager, watching from the stands as they accept their Premier League trophy today.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | May 25, 2025 3:41 PM |
R11 I thought he was saying Trivago is my secret hack, but it is really hard to tell.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 25, 2025 3:47 PM |
You can't help but compare this guy to the previous handsome guy for Trivago - I believe the previous guy had some drug issues.
This new guy is a bad replacement - he's much older, lot more wrinkles, not as handsome, and those teeth are fucking off-putting. Creepy even.
It has a German feel to it like a Mentos commercial. "Americans like friendly funny young people, let's have them do quirky things like going through someone's car at a stop sign and exiting the other, then both people smiling as he eats Mentos".
Feels very much what a German thinks an American commercial should be like. This time - "Americans are known to love perfect white teeth, let's get a guy with those!" Ugh - noooo, not like THAT.
This guy feels like a Temu version of the old spokesman. I hate it and can't stop comparing the two.

Klopp is considered among, if not the, top soccer managers today.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | May 25, 2025 3:53 PM |
Yes, the new ad guy in Jurgen Klopp. I, too, wondered if it wasn't Tim Williams, the original Trivago guy.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | May 25, 2025 4:02 PM |
See Klopp at today's Liverpool awards presentation at approximately 1:00pm Eastern on USA and Peacock.
(Have I mentioned I hate Peacock!!?)
by Anonymous | reply 19 | May 25, 2025 4:33 PM |
Trivago sounds like a travel app.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | May 25, 2025 5:57 PM |
You're in the big leagues now...
by Anonymous | reply 21 | May 25, 2025 5:59 PM |
R15, R11: Klopp's character says "Trivago's my secret tactic" at the end of the commercial. Makes sense from a coaching point of view⚽️
by Anonymous | reply 22 | May 25, 2025 8:39 PM |
The guy in the ad looks way older than this Jurgen Klopp above, are we sure it isn’t his monstrously-veneered father?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | May 26, 2025 5:17 AM |
A bit disgusting really...reminds me of one of my high school teacher's huge dentures
by Anonymous | reply 24 | July 7, 2025 12:39 PM |
Those dentures are ridiculous. They are too white, too big and too wide.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | July 7, 2025 12:55 PM |
Unlike The Trivago Guy, he's going to be known as The Dentures Guy.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | July 7, 2025 12:56 PM |
The teeth don't fit in his mouth
by Anonymous | reply 27 | July 7, 2025 2:08 PM |
And it's Trivaahgo!
by Anonymous | reply 28 | July 7, 2025 2:12 PM |
Those are his teeth? I thought he was foaming at the mouth.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | July 7, 2025 3:09 PM |
Their latest ad has Jürgen and two other people seated outdoors in a resort somewhere. The one man says how he loves their hotel and it only cost $225/night (or some other price). The immediate response from Jürgen and the other guy is to enthusiastically laugh at the other guy—their supposed friend. We then are told they paid half that price with the asshole cackling and blinding us with those ridiculous teeth.
The only thing I came away with after that commercial was pity for the poor schlub who considers those rude, berating, and dismissive fucks as friends. The ones we are supposed to side with are these cash-saving, smarmy dicks whereas I side with Mr. Clueless. Great advertising, Trivago, you made this viewer hate your very existence!
by Anonymous | reply 30 | July 7, 2025 3:16 PM |
He's only 58????!!!
The commercials do capture your attention - but who gives a fuck about a German soccer manager in the US? They don't - but they probably use him successfully in Europe with other voice overs for different languages.
R30 - I agree with your take.
As I've said upthread - these spots seem so German, like Mentos commercials. Something very off about them.
I don't trust many of those discount travel sites anyway, unless I'm in dire straits. They always screw up reservations and if anything goes wrong, it's not the airline or hotel's fault - but theirs. I've heard about it way too many times.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | July 7, 2025 3:21 PM |
They are on YouTube. Go find them yourselves you fat, lazy hoz!
by Anonymous | reply 32 | July 7, 2025 4:30 PM |
Does he even have a lower jaw?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | July 7, 2025 8:56 PM |
His nose looks different, ugly, on the second commercial. Maybe that nasty little twerp in the first commercial punched his smug, mocking face.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | July 7, 2025 9:44 PM |
Those teeth are very off-putting. Can you imagine dining across from him?
by Anonymous | reply 35 | July 7, 2025 9:59 PM |
[quote]Their latest ad has Jürgen and two other people seated outdoors in a resort somewhere.
I think I see this ad at least 5 times a day.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | July 7, 2025 10:34 PM |
R35, those choppers are frightening.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | July 7, 2025 11:25 PM |
They’re the size of dog bowls.
They play it here in Italy all the time too.
