Have you ever been banned from a FB group?
I was recently banned from a FB group for my suburban town. It was nice to get info about weather, new restaurants opening up, street repairs, etc. But now I have to go elsewhere for all that.
I tried to submit a post asking other members if they had an Obamacare policy and did it seem worthwhile for them. This post got banned and the moderator said, "well, if you had referred to it as the Affordable Care Act, I would have approved it".
Then more recently she posted something about paying deductibles, and I responded with "I thought we weren't supposed to post anything political". She said "oh it's just a meme and it's meant in fun". Now she has banned me from the group. When I search for groups with the same name, the search results don't even list this group.
I've really had it with FB and am thinking of leaving it.

Create an alternate FB account, and join the group using that.

Facebook group moderators fancy themselves as demigods. I've been banned for less.

I was put in FB jail for posting a WWII poster about gasoline conservation that (gasp) had a caricature of Hitler in it.

A good friend of mine got banned from our small town group. She won’t tell me why. She is really nice and inoffensive so I don’t really get it.

She must have fucked someone's husband and word got out, r4.

Someone posted a picture of a streetcar from the late 1950s on a page dedicated to old photos of my city. Of course there were over a hundred comments from people who felt to need to say 'My Dad probably drove that streetcar.' I commented 'Boy that was a very busy conductor'... and I was banned.

r5 100% that's what it is

OP, Why do I get the feeling you're leaving out some information? You sound tedious.

When my kid was in elementary school, parents were added to the "official" FB group upon request. It was mostly announcements about events and deadlines, but there was an almost-weekly post about people double-parking to drop off their kids, which we were warned against vehemently. The president of the PTA was the administrator of the page. She was also the volunteer in charge of the pupil crossing guards. She frequently posted the make and model of cars she saw double-parked, sometimes including a license plate number.
There was a huge line to drop off one morning and I saw why -- a massive SUV had parked in the drop off area. I snapped a pic of it and posted it, chastising the thoughtless person who parked their car there, left it unattended, and screwed up morning drop off. I was removed from the group. When I asked the principal a couple days later about it, she explained that it was the PTA bitch's car. The principal readmitted me and apologized for the "confusion." There was no confusion. That woman was a cunt.

I left two “neighborhood” groups posthaste because they so absolutely confirmed my suspicion that I’d be better off not knowing the people who live around here. One group was on Facebook and the other was something else that I’ve forgotten.
My immediate neighbors are wonderful and I feel incredibly lucky to have them there.

I did, from a pharmacology group, after suggesting Neely finally get off the dolls. Some people just don't want to hear what Broadway doesn't go for.

Yes, and also you will get lambasted if you use the word "Obamacare" when you speak with a rep. from Healthcare.gov on the phone. You must not use that word.

OP - groups are moderated by regular users, not Facebook personnel.
You’re at the mercy of any random frau having a bad day.

Why do you want to be a group with a bunch of ignorant MAGATs?

I was from an orange tabby page, I told an amusing little story about how when I watch "movies of an adult nature" my orange tabby likes to paw at the screen when things are jiggling and bouncing.

FB Groups are by nature easy for a moderator to get into power-tripping. I once moderated a group and it was fun (and so easy!) to just zap an asshole/troll once in a while and eliminate them. It is not difficult to imagine a Trumpy moderator getting off on doing that to the libs.
OP if the group had some real value to you, just develop a FB alter ego and join it with that ID and stay low profile.

I belong to a few local FB groups but don't visit them often. Random posts attract a lot of laughing emojis. The other day people were using them on a post where someone got hurt.

Nonsense. The GOP used that word constantly and even Obama accepted it ultimately.
Now that it’s successful, the right is trying to avoid it. Too fucking late

I was banned from a Philly FB page 10 times because I kept saying bad things about people because these posters were acting all "holy than thou". I had to remind them of their past lives as a "pass around Pat".
I had sooo much fun getting these mean people back on FB, this post was all about the Roxborough, East falls area I grew up in, all the "good old gay& str8 sex and drinking, drug stories"I knew all the good stories.

I’m in several Facebook groups, including the local one, but I don’t comment often. The people in the groups are more vicious than people on DL and I don’t want to engage with them because they do it for sport.

But R22, the sport is FUN, some of them are really good at it.
And if you back it up with some true facts about the person u r attacking, someone in the FB post knows the same story u do, then the "bloodletting begins". It's fun.

FB group moderators are like virtual HOA boards-power hungry assholes with shitty lives who want to lord their power over others. OP, my advice is go for a walk or take up a hobby. FB groups are not worth the trouble.
