The wildfires have me thinking. Remember Los Angeles during the pandemic. When the smog actually cleared up, you could see rainbows, and the air quality so much better. We must do something about climate change and emissions.
Remember California during the pandemic

March 2020 - September 2020 I could drive a distance of 100 miles in about 1 and a half hours. Now it's 2 and a half hours. I miss the empty freeways.

This has nothing to do with climate change. This has to do with human arrogance and greed. This was an accident waiting to happen. Why wasn’t it a priority to create fire containment strategies?

OP we should have done something 50 years ago. It's far too late - I recommend radical acceptance as a coping strategy

Kind of a freak situation - we haven't had any measurable rainfall since spring. We had a very wet winter last year - but this year? Not a drop, which is really unusual considering Dec-Feb is the rainy season. Then you have Santa Ana winds in JANUARY?
Feels like they could do something with the brush - they have goats that eat away that stuff in San Diego.

The most advanced fire containment strategies in the world aren’t going to be enough in the face of six months of no rain and 100 MPH winds.

OP still goes into his front yard every day at sunset to cheer and applaud his local hospital staff

R10 - actually there are many communities along SoCal coast where people go out and watch the sunset and cheer when it goes down - every day. Not the same thing, but something similar does happen.
