I loved it. Jean Seberg is perfection.

I remember first seeing it at a retro art cinema house on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in the mid 1980s with a friend who had seen it before back in film school and dragged me along to see it with him. It is very much a remarkable film, very much the perfect representation of French New Wave drama that impacted so much of movie making in the 1960s and also inspired what followed in the 1970s. The dynamics of the two lead actors remains impressive even today.

As someone who spend some time in his teens and twenties in Europe during the 1970s and early 1980s I am familiar the International Herald Tribune, which is the successor to the New York Herald Tribute after it stopped publication in 1966.
