Yeah, maybe raise the legal driving age to 25.
Stupid bitch could have killed someone.
Many drivers across the Midwest faced dangerous conditions over the weekend as a major winter storm brought ice and heavy snow to the area.
But when 19-year-old Amirica Smalls hit a patch of black ice in Kansas City, her first instinct was to jump from her vehicle. Her car could be seen sliding down an exit ramp in a video that quickly went viral on social media.

Omg what a lunatic. She could have hit the emergency break. How cray.

It's a shame schools don't offer Driver's Education training anymore.

R3 No. Public schools eliminated Driver's Ed years ago.

R3 Budget cuts, lack of funding.

Clearly, r1 did not do well in Driver’s Ed or win the spelling bee. Hit the emergency brake on ice?

R2 True! It was in driver's ed that I learned that if you skid on black ice, you DON'T slam on the brakes and you DO steer into the skid. I was certainly never taught to jump out of the fucking car.

I actually was a spelling bee champ. No lie. I wouldn’t have necessarily hit the emergency brake. But I would have braked and steered to the right.

I thought that too R7 but then I thought that if the emergency brake was on the car would have stopped moving when it hit the greenbelt.

Stupid woman. Too bad there was no policeman around to arrest her for reckless endangerment.

R11 If a cop had been there, she definitely would've been ticketed for reckless driving.

“black ice”.
Ice that you aren’t paying attention to is “black” ice.

R9 You're not supposed to brake when you hit ice. It can make the skid worse and cause the car to swerve more.
Congrats on being a spelling bee champ, though.

R13 Stop calling it "black ice!" That's racist!

Oh my this thread has slid off the rails.

It is pretty nutty to jump out of a moving vehicle, but her car was skidding fast towards what looked like multiple lanes of fast moving traffic, with the nose of the car facing directly against oncoming traffic. Which is to say, I understand panicking in that situation. Nevertheless, jumping out of the car was not only extremely dangerous for her own person, but her abandoned car could have caused a major accident and harm to others around her. It would have been scary as shit but pretty manageable to maneuver the car into the embankment. Even rolling the car would be preferable to careening into high speed traffic or letting your abandoned car do the same.
