Due to the fires. Due to the liars

Jamie Lee Curtis - on her march for another Best Supporting trophy - will part the flames like fucking Moses and the Red Sea to make the Oscars happen.

No. Just have them in NY like 1955. The 1977 Academy Awards ceremony was held at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles but was broadcast live from New York City due to a writers’ strike affecting Hollywood. Respect the situation and conduct the ceremony in NY.

Last time this clown was in the White House he had them start these fires. He's back at it again. No one loves the Dumpster so he tries hard to revenge only looing like more of clown.

I meant to say 1977 not the 50's.

They'd be a fool to cancel. Golden Globes ratings were amazing on Sunday night!

Listen. This is OUR night. Not your's, not his, not hers but OUR night.

[quote] —Jim Beaver
What is this line from? Is it a real quote, or from a movie?
And are you talking about Jim Beaver from Supernatural?
I'm always amazed when an obscure reference to someone from Supernatural pops up here on Datalounge.

The Oscars aren’t until March 2–hopefully things will be in less of an emergency state by then?

they should cancel the nominations and invites but still hold the event and see who shows up.

Why would the Oscars in March be canceled?
F&F

I hope so.

Maybe just postponed like in 1981, because there was an attempt to assassinate the President.

Noooooooooooo!

R8, awhile back someone, who claimed to be an acquaintance of Jim Beaver, posted that he had something along those lines in regards to the Academy Awards.
It struck me as hilarious since it was both incredibly tone-deaf and as if Beaver would ever have been nominated.

r3 I was just gonna say that. Have them in NYC. Although it might be a bit much to organize everything. They plan these things well in advance.

Downtown LA wasn't affected.
Certainly some people in the industry may have been.....remains to be seen but likelier that the ceremony would be more of a declaration of survival, of the people, of the film industry and in the face of T. Rump.

Postponed or moved to NYC if this gets worse through March

They should be permanently cancelled for lack of interest. Few people go to movie theaters nowadays compared to 1980 or 2010 so the Academy awards are no longer important. The vast majority of people stay home and just stream movies. Movie theaters are no longer necessary and the ones that remain are price gougers to make up for loss of quantity of customers.

Has LA proper been affected by the wildfires? Good lord I can’t even imagine.

R20 No, or very minimally. The fires were all in areas near the mountains (Altadena, etc.) or in hilly areas covered with vegetation and trees along or near the coast.
