Sunny Hostin's husband named in federal insurance fraud lawsuit

Sunny's not having a good season on The View, is she?

The View co-host Sunny Hostin's husband Emmanuel "Manny" Hostin has been named in a recent lawsuit.

Emmanuel, an orthopedic surgeon in New York, is among over 200 defendants who were named in a lawsuit filed last month, which reportedly accuses The View host's husband of federal insurance fraud.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Emmanuel is alleged to have received "kickbacks" by "performing surgery and fraudulently billing" the insurance company American Transit, which insures taxi companies and Uber and Lyft drivers.

The lawsuit, filed on Dec. 17, is reported to be one of the largest Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) cases ever filed in New York. Emmanuel, along with many others, is accused of having "knowingly provided fraudulent medical and other healthcare services including arthroscopic surgeries."

American Transit claims to have been billed "in exchange for kickbacks and/or other compensation which were disguised as dividends or other cash distributions."

Emmanuel has been married to Sunny since 1998 and shares two children with the talk show host, a lawyer and former federal prosecutor.

According to a statement provided to the Daily Mail, Emmanuel's lawyer, Daniel Thwaites, said that his client "denies each and every allegation" and believes the lawsuit to be a "blanket, scattershot, meritless lawsuit by a near-bankrupt insurance carrier."

Parade also reached out to Emmanuel's lawyer but did not immediately hear back.
