I find her public persona SO grating, but I think she'd actually be really good in this role.

It’s a sign of the apocalypse.

argentineans are racist as fuck, they gonna make an uproar when they see this

This is better than the one picture that got posted on here before where looked special.

Okay, Argentina, *now* you can cry for me.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | January 6, 2025 9:44 PM |
I don’t know her.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | January 6, 2025 9:50 PM |
And Ariana Grande will get to do it on Broadway and also a live TV special.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | January 6, 2025 9:53 PM |
R5 - you're actually not exaggerating. I mean, Argentina literally incentivized white Europeans to move there and breed with native populations to help "purify" the racial makeup of the country.

So there was a wokebomb dropped that stated it was WRONG for non-latinX actors to be cast as Eva or Che or Juan Peron. But now its okay for a blactress to play Eva? Asinine.

They don't even like being called Latino. As far as Argentinians are concerned, they're Euorpeans who live in South America. They hate being included under the "Latino" umbrella with Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Dominicans etc. whom they despise.

What's so asinine about that is that Evita, Juan and Che were all of 100% European ancestry. Evita was half Spanish and half French, Juan was Spanish, English and French and Che was Spanish and Irish. None of them were Mestizo. It's perfectly acceptable and historically accurate for white actors to play them.

Who???

R13 European doesn’t mean white.

Does this mean Julia Roverts can resume filming her starring role in, "Harriet Tubman"?

I had heard they recast the role with Sandra Bulvock.

Lena Dunham is Mammy and Rebel Wilson is Jemima.

R13 Unlike Eva and Juan, Che was a fictional character.

^^In the musical, yes.

as a cuban of spanish ancestry who can easily spot someone having my same southern european race, no matter how light or swarthy their skin are, I can assure you that argentina does have the highest number of european descendants in all latin america, although not of spanish descendants, that would be cubans, however, they seem to be concentrated in tbe buenos aires region, once you move out of that perimeter, you start seeing mestizos with clear amerindian features.

We need to just let go of race. Obviously a black man could never play Abraham Lincoln or a white man MLK Jr but most historical figures are people first not their race. She is a great beauty and talent and can sing just like Evita.

She looks just like her. It's uncanny. 👀

And if an Argentinian person were playing Malcolm X, I guess the black outrage would be racist too.
