I think about getting a taser or bear spray but not a gun. I can't imagine having to read/search/shop/learn/ fill out the paperwork and keep track of the fucking thing. I haven't needed one in 65 years and I can only think of ONE sensible reason that I might want it, so no, for now.

I wish gun licenses required extensive training and certification before you can have one, to make it safe for everyone, but the modern NRA ruined that. If I lived in the US, I'd probably get trained and get one because I accept the reality.

I have my Texas conceal carry permit and have 2 pistols 38 and 9 mm ) and a shotgun . I only bring the handguns when we take extended road trips and keep the shotgun at home for security. I have considered it.

I have a permit to carry. I've owned a gun since the early 90s, but I am a military veteran and I was with "my-ex-the-cop" at the time. She insisted on getting me one (a .38 "snubnose" revolver) because we lived in a marginal neighborhood, and I often walked her (large and spooky-looking) dog after dark.

I just got a new one a few months ago, a Beretta .32 that's small enough to carry all the time, although I seldom do. It's funny -- I have ridden all over the country on my motorcycle and not once have I felt threatened while riding. So I don't even carry it then. I guess I have it primarily for home defense. But if you were a senior lesbian living alone in Deplorable Haven, I imagine you might want one too.

I also have cameras all around my property. In fact, sitting here in my hotel room in Panama City, I just looked at the street in front of my property. The wonders of modern technology!

Most people who carry guns on them like they're in the wild fucking west would probably turn a tense interpersonal situation into a bloody clusterfuck shootout massacre and get themselves and 10 other people around them killed as they bumbled with their gun. Gun people are such fantasists.

I want a gun for my home, but I've been to the range using my parents' guns. Shooting them scares me, because the force of the recoil is so much stronger then what you see in TV and movies. Every time I shoot it at the target, I kept think about the blunt force trauma of a bullet going into someone's head. Dark thoughts, it's just so scary to think I have such a powerful weapon in my hands.

So, I'd like a gun, but I'm also too scared to get one. Not because I would plan to harm anyone or myself, but because they honestly scare me. If I bought one I'd have to spend a lot of time at the gun range to gain some comfort.

When I moved out, my dad insisted I take one of his shotguns. I didn’t think it was necessary, but he was adamant.

I took the single barrel breach load. I can see when it’s loaded and when it’s not. Heavy AF so I could always clock someone upside the head with it and put the hurt on them.

I take it out periodically and clean it. Keep the ammo in a different room. Just birdshot.

My weapons of choice are my scimitar or my throwing axes. I’m quite good with those and they are much quieter.

I'm not THE senior lesbian, but I am A senior lesbian. I have handled a gun two or three times, including shooting it, but otherwise have lived a blissfully gun-free life. Then, after the election, I became paranoid enough that I signed up for a training class. I don't know much at all, because my instructor was too busy talking about shooting it out with some robber that came into the massage parlor he was in one night. I don't even know how to load the thing because the guy loaded the gun for me. What a waste of time. I also know that I will blow my own foot off before I ever manage to hit someone who might be breaking in. If I ever get a gun, it will be a shotgun, because the adrenaline rush renders a handgun useless for someone like me. So, after my initial possible interest in self-defense, I realized I'm screwed unless I practice shooting the damned thing a lot and that's probably not going to happen. In summary, I have a baseball bat and that will have to do.
