The producer she is talking about is Saul Zaentz. 20th Century-Fox wanted her for the lead in The English Patient when it was being developed over there, but Zaentz -not incorrectly- pushed back (unsure if this was for Kristin Scott Thomas or Juliette Binoche’s role. Either way Moore would have been miscast, but I wouldn’t tell her to her face like that. Brutal industry.)
It's a great speech - but let's be honest. She turned down a LOT of stuff because it wasn't a lead. She could have played interesting supporting roles, but no. She saw herself as THE star.
And then there's those pesky drug problems.
I'm happy for her - but getting a Golden Globe doesn't mean she was great. Fuck, Madonna won for Evita - which....c'mon.

People forget that for the first half of the 90s Demi Moore was the biggest star in Hollywood. I remember the snark she got over her serious role in GI Jane - she got the Razzie for it, despite it being a good performance.
She did do Supporting roles, like Deconstructing Harry.

If The Substance isn’t nominated for makeup effects, production design/art direction, costumes, cinematography, and editing, there should be riots.
Demi Moore deserves one, as does Qualley.
Personally, I think it deserves a best picture nom, but I’m not naive enough to think that’ll happen.
