by Anonymousreply 1January 6, 2025 3:20 AM

Here!

by Anonymousreply 2January 6, 2025 3:21 AM

If I had had the botox concession, I would be richer than President Musk.

by Anonymousreply 3January 6, 2025 3:21 AM

Fuck that bitch trying to sue Netflux for Baby Reindeer.

by Anonymousreply 4January 6, 2025 3:23 AM

Everything about Ali Wong irritates the shit out of me.

by Anonymousreply 5January 6, 2025 3:23 AM

Is Akwafina still a thing?

by Anonymousreply 6January 6, 2025 3:25 AM

R5 why?

by Anonymousreply 7January 6, 2025 3:25 AM

Melissa, I'll ask again this year - are you on Ozempic ?

by Anonymousreply 8January 6, 2025 3:27 AM

❤️🙏🏼PRAYING FOR TIMMY 🙏🏼❤️

by Anonymousreply 9January 6, 2025 3:27 AM

Dax Shepherd looks awful.

by Anonymousreply 10January 6, 2025 3:27 AM

Same here R5.

That was totally a Woke win.

She's not funny at all.

by Anonymousreply 11January 6, 2025 3:28 AM

Why do I find almost every current celebrity annoying? Is it age, social media, or just the world being such a dumpster that this shit seems so indulgent and silly?

by Anonymousreply 12January 6, 2025 3:28 AM

Melissa's face looks fabulous.

The pink is nice too.

by Anonymousreply 13January 6, 2025 3:28 AM

Death Watch - Elton John.

by Anonymousreply 14January 6, 2025 3:29 AM

Can I just repeat my culinary outrage from the previous thread?

[quote]r577 Did I tell you all I went to WICKED author Gregory Maguire’s house for lunch in Concord… and he gave me cheap deli leftovers in plastic containers? It was a let down.

by Anonymousreply 15January 6, 2025 3:29 AM

I've never watched Murders in the Building because Steve Martin was SO overhyped during the 70s. Still hasn't worn off.

by Anonymousreply 16January 6, 2025 3:29 AM

Nothing is more played out than complaining anything you don't like is "woke" r11. I thought we left that in 2024.

by Anonymousreply 17January 6, 2025 3:30 AM

A second look at Jean Smart's unflattering matronly gown.

by Anonymousreply 18January 6, 2025 3:30 AM

Wow, R16, you really hold a grudge.

by Anonymousreply 19January 6, 2025 3:30 AM

"Since language was created, we have all been telling stories..."

So profound.

by Anonymousreply 20January 6, 2025 3:31 AM

I guess ABBOTT ELEMENTARY had its day of recognition in Season One.

by Anonymousreply 21January 6, 2025 3:31 AM

[quote] Death Watch - Elton John.

*crossing fingers!*

by Anonymousreply 22January 6, 2025 3:31 AM

Kate Winslet looks great, you don't need to be bedecked and bejeweled to look lovely.

by Anonymousreply 23January 6, 2025 3:32 AM

r17, no one appointed you the Language Police.

by Anonymousreply 24January 6, 2025 3:32 AM

Like most sitcoms you get diminishing returns over time r21. It's hard to keep it fresh.

by Anonymousreply 25January 6, 2025 3:32 AM

Glen Powell is going home empty handed. I'm good.

by Anonymousreply 26January 6, 2025 3:32 AM

That’s all sitcoms

by Anonymousreply 27January 6, 2025 3:33 AM

I love Ali Wong

by Anonymousreply 28January 6, 2025 3:33 AM

Nicholas Chavez is on drugs.

by Anonymousreply 29January 6, 2025 3:33 AM

I want Paul W. Downs inside me quite as deeply as he can go.

by Anonymousreply 30January 6, 2025 3:34 AM

Wasn’t “Glenn Powell” a politician in the Reagan Era??

by Anonymousreply 31January 6, 2025 3:35 AM

r30 Yes, he is gorgeous

by Anonymousreply 32January 6, 2025 3:35 AM

R25 or maybe the entire category was competitive. Shows can be good and other good shows come along.

by Anonymousreply 33January 6, 2025 3:35 AM

Wait til you learn how many people in the entertainment industry do coke r29.

by Anonymousreply 34January 6, 2025 3:36 AM

R19 That's right , I never forget pain.

by Anonymousreply 35January 6, 2025 3:37 AM

Salma Hayek Pinot. Ouch.

by Anonymousreply 36January 6, 2025 3:37 AM

Salma Hayek IS Donatella Versaci!

by Anonymousreply 37January 6, 2025 3:37 AM

Salma's sounding a bit butch.

I wanna see her side-eye Nicole after that fashion show debacle.

by Anonymousreply 38January 6, 2025 3:38 AM

eek

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 39January 6, 2025 3:38 AM

Bates ripped her speech up! lol

by Anonymousreply 40January 6, 2025 3:39 AM

DEI in full effect tonight!

Orientals winning all over the place!

All for shit nobody watches.

by Anonymousreply 41January 6, 2025 3:39 AM

When did Salma swallow a frog?

by Anonymousreply 42January 6, 2025 3:39 AM

Salma probably owns those ridiculously oversized emeralds she's wearing since she's married to a billionaire.

Only royalty should wear jewels of that size.

by Anonymousreply 43January 6, 2025 3:39 AM

I don't see that much wrong with reading stuff off your phone. Would it be better if you had stuff written down on a little piece of paper? Probably, I guess.

by Anonymousreply 44January 6, 2025 3:40 AM

Insane that Kathy Bates and the Shogun lady are in the same category!!

by Anonymousreply 45January 6, 2025 3:40 AM

HA!

Even the winner knew she didn't deserve the award.

by Anonymousreply 46January 6, 2025 3:40 AM

Orientals? Lawd did that cunt wake up from a 40 year coma.

by Anonymousreply 47January 6, 2025 3:40 AM

I miss the good old days of movie theaters, the three networks, PBS, HBO and Blockbuster for our movie viewing needs. Most people cannot afford 20 streaming subscriptions to see not only theatrical releases, but television series as well.

Sad, but I won't see the majority of tonight's offerings; I cannot be alone in that.

by Anonymousreply 48January 6, 2025 3:40 AM

[quote]Orientals winning all over the place!

What were the rugs nominated for, precious?

by Anonymousreply 49January 6, 2025 3:40 AM

[quote] DEI in full effect tonight! Orientals winning all over the place!

You sound popular.

by Anonymousreply 50January 6, 2025 3:40 AM

I thought Kiera Knightly was worthy.

by Anonymousreply 51January 6, 2025 3:40 AM

R41 - I was gonna ask - was anyone glued to Hulu to watch Shogun?

Hell - I remember the original with Richard Chamberlain in 1980.

by Anonymousreply 52January 6, 2025 3:40 AM

Lots of people watched Shogun asswipe R41.

by Anonymousreply 53January 6, 2025 3:40 AM

Did all the SHOGUN actors threaten voters with goddamn samurai swords??

by Anonymousreply 54January 6, 2025 3:40 AM

Salma has a beautiful gown and a great figure but her makeup and hairstyle are awful. She's married to a billionaire. She can't skimp on those things.

by Anonymousreply 55January 6, 2025 3:40 AM

[quote] Only royalty should wear jewels of that size.

And what did royalty do to deserve wearing jewels that size, other than inherit them, R43?

by Anonymousreply 56January 6, 2025 3:41 AM

I'm getting a bit tired of Zoe Saldana.

by Anonymousreply 57January 6, 2025 3:41 AM

Zoe looks nice and elegant. All natural hair too.

by Anonymousreply 58January 6, 2025 3:41 AM

Shogun was a big hit and made FX change it from a limited series to an ongoing drama.

It's not our fault you are out of touch.

by Anonymousreply 59January 6, 2025 3:41 AM

The Golden Wokes.

by Anonymousreply 60January 6, 2025 3:41 AM

I’m referring to Zoe Kravitz that is.

by Anonymousreply 61January 6, 2025 3:41 AM

R52 Not my cup of tea.

by Anonymousreply 62January 6, 2025 3:42 AM

For r41

by Anonymousreply 63January 6, 2025 3:42 AM

Ariana looks sick. Like, I feel like someone should say something.

by Anonymousreply 64January 6, 2025 3:42 AM

R48 misses the days of horse and buggy, ice chests and dying from polio.

🙄

by Anonymousreply 65January 6, 2025 3:42 AM

R59 right. It’s one of the most popular shows on television right now. I’m so sick of these racists coming on here lying.

by Anonymousreply 66January 6, 2025 3:42 AM

morrible. just morrible.

by Anonymousreply 67January 6, 2025 3:42 AM

That Golden Globes best supporting actor winner is STILL bowing to everyone!

by Anonymousreply 68January 6, 2025 3:42 AM

DL FAVE VIOLA DAVIS coming up!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 69January 6, 2025 3:43 AM

Nice tight speech from the Shogun cutie.

by Anonymousreply 70January 6, 2025 3:43 AM

The bangs (on Michelle Yeoh) look wrong, right?

by Anonymousreply 71January 6, 2025 3:43 AM

I'm confused about Penguin being a limited series. I haven't watched it yet, but was it intended to end or was it just canceled?

by Anonymousreply 72January 6, 2025 3:43 AM

[quote]Dax Shepherd looks awful.

He always does.

by Anonymousreply 73January 6, 2025 3:44 AM

And WHAT exactly does Davis deserve an honorary award for--surviving being poor as a child? I'm sure she'll tell us.

by Anonymousreply 74January 6, 2025 3:45 AM

Something tells me Hollywood isn't ready to give up woke just yet.

by Anonymousreply 75January 6, 2025 3:45 AM

Dax Shepherd is unattractive and talentless.

by Anonymousreply 76January 6, 2025 3:45 AM

R74 she constantly has been soaked in urine!

by Anonymousreply 77January 6, 2025 3:46 AM

We must be nearing the end. How many more disappointments must I endure?

by Anonymousreply 78January 6, 2025 3:46 AM

R67 Michelle looked better on stage than in that pic.

by Anonymousreply 79January 6, 2025 3:46 AM

[quote] And what did royalty do to deserve wearing jewels that size, other than inherit them, [R43]?

Oh... you mean, as opposed to Salma Hayek, who "deserves" wearing them because she spread her legs for a billionaire?

by Anonymousreply 80January 6, 2025 3:47 AM

[quote] Glen Powell is going home empty handed.

Hardly… he’s going to grab that tall presenter aide’s BBC and take it home for a ride.

by Anonymousreply 81January 6, 2025 3:47 AM

I think Dax Shepard is cute.

by Anonymousreply 82January 6, 2025 3:47 AM

Michelle's bangs make her look like Moe from the Three Stooges

by Anonymousreply 83January 6, 2025 3:47 AM

R47 - R41 is yet another example of the growing xenophobia on the DL since 5th November.

There's a certain type of poster who is now comfortable posting racist stuff which wouldn't previously have been acceptable.

by Anonymousreply 84January 6, 2025 3:48 AM

Dax looks special

by Anonymousreply 86January 6, 2025 3:48 AM

R34 we know many do. That doesn’t make it ok.

by Anonymousreply 87January 6, 2025 3:48 AM

[italic]No one cares that I was served old deli leftovers in pastoral Concord by the multimillionaire author of WICKED!

Is this a gay board or NOT ? ! ?

by Anonymousreply 88January 6, 2025 3:48 AM

At least she fucked someone for them, R80. And what did royalty do? Go fuck yourself.

by Anonymousreply 89January 6, 2025 3:48 AM

ugh fuck we have to hear smug cunt Viola Davis

by Anonymousreply 90January 6, 2025 3:49 AM

R73 😂

by Anonymousreply 91January 6, 2025 3:50 AM

Vio Violadanna.

by Anonymousreply 92January 6, 2025 3:50 AM

R81 Never heard gay rumors about him. Are you fantasizing?

by Anonymousreply 93January 6, 2025 3:50 AM

I just love Kate Winslet and how she presents herself.

by Anonymousreply 94January 6, 2025 3:50 AM

Something tells me twits like R75 aren't going to give up whining about "woke" anytime soon.

by Anonymousreply 95January 6, 2025 3:50 AM

Viola swapped out her ratty wig from the other night for a new one! She must have called Diana Ross.

by Anonymousreply 96January 6, 2025 3:50 AM

'24 wasn't the best year for movies. Rather a yawn.

by Anonymousreply 97January 6, 2025 3:50 AM

Violas on 🍿

by Anonymousreply 98January 6, 2025 3:50 AM

Oh, lord.

Here we go.

THE DRAMA!!!

by Anonymousreply 99January 6, 2025 3:50 AM

Viola looks like she has had some bad work done on her face.

by Anonymousreply 100January 6, 2025 3:50 AM

This award is all about ME!!!

by Anonymousreply 101January 6, 2025 3:51 AM

JFC, every time Viola opens her mouth, she sounds like she's in a therapy session playing both the counselor and the patient.

by Anonymousreply 102January 6, 2025 3:51 AM

Oh….. this is a Diane Ross vibe!

by Anonymousreply 103January 6, 2025 3:51 AM

Did they make up a category so wicked could win something?

by Anonymousreply 104January 6, 2025 3:51 AM

Viola looks fabulous.

by Anonymousreply 105January 6, 2025 3:51 AM

WHO?! Fernanda Torres??

by Anonymousreply 106January 6, 2025 3:51 AM

[quote] [R47] - [R41] is yet another example of the growing xenophobia on the DL since 5th November.

DL was already like that, before the election.

by Anonymousreply 107January 6, 2025 3:51 AM

Who? What? I'm out of touch.

by Anonymousreply 108January 6, 2025 3:52 AM

Viola does look great. Skin is glistening. Makeup is nice. Looking youthful. Chocolate beauty.

by Anonymousreply 109January 6, 2025 3:52 AM

I was rooting for Pamela, oh well.

by Anonymousreply 110January 6, 2025 3:52 AM

Viola is desperate to look cool, but she looks like a joke.

by Anonymousreply 111January 6, 2025 3:52 AM

How humiliating when the winner has such a long walk to the stage.

by Anonymousreply 112January 6, 2025 3:52 AM

Kate Hudson had a necklace with a huge sapphire.

by Anonymousreply 113January 6, 2025 3:52 AM

Not much table-side applause for Viola Davis's entrance and presentation.

by Anonymousreply 114January 6, 2025 3:52 AM

I think Viola looks great

by Anonymousreply 115January 6, 2025 3:52 AM

Viola’s chest is glowing beautifully -

by Anonymousreply 116January 6, 2025 3:52 AM

Fernanda Torres has a great dress.

by Anonymousreply 117January 6, 2025 3:52 AM

I thought Meryl presented this award to Viola last night. Why are they bringing Viola out again?

by Anonymousreply 118January 6, 2025 3:52 AM

R504. - they had this category before. Barbie won it last year. Top Gun the year before I think.

by Anonymousreply 119January 6, 2025 3:53 AM

R115 is Viola's husband

by Anonymousreply 120January 6, 2025 3:53 AM

That's fair Fernanda - the others have won so much already - except Pamela. And did we really think Pamela was going to win?

by Anonymousreply 121January 6, 2025 3:53 AM

VIOLA DAVIS FAVE VIOLA DAVIS coming up!!!!!!

There R69. Fixed that for you.

by Anonymousreply 122January 6, 2025 3:53 AM

R104, I mean

by Anonymousreply 123January 6, 2025 3:53 AM

Uh, it’s almost 11 years n the east coast. Move it along toots:

by Anonymousreply 124January 6, 2025 3:54 AM

This foreign lady is smoothly gracious… who ever she is.

by Anonymousreply 125January 6, 2025 3:54 AM

Edgar looks like a douche with that hairstyle.

by Anonymousreply 126January 6, 2025 3:54 AM

Upcoming film Snow White. That film will be forever in purgatory thanks to that little no-talent Zegler and her huge mouth.

by Anonymousreply 127January 6, 2025 3:54 AM

They give VIOLA DAVIS center stage for her award presentation and everyone else gets the awkward closeup shot?

by Anonymousreply 128January 6, 2025 3:55 AM

TIMMMMMYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 129January 6, 2025 3:55 AM

I think Adrian Brody is sexy.

by Anonymousreply 130January 6, 2025 3:55 AM

I said it.

by Anonymousreply 131January 6, 2025 3:55 AM

HAHAHAHA Chalamet LOST!

by Anonymousreply 132January 6, 2025 3:55 AM

Gal Gadot's bizarre stomach pearls signal support to hernia sufferers everywhere.

by Anonymousreply 133January 6, 2025 3:55 AM

Is Harvey watching from prison as his ex-wife kisses Brody for his win?

by Anonymousreply 134January 6, 2025 3:55 AM

R129: I can go to bed now.

by Anonymousreply 135January 6, 2025 3:55 AM

SUCK IT, Timmee and her stans.

by Anonymousreply 136January 6, 2025 3:55 AM

Aww. Lil Ratboy lost. Came in last in the voting, I hear.

by Anonymousreply 137January 6, 2025 3:56 AM

Gal Gadot - she's pretty, but she just doesn't do anything for me.

R124 - it's 7:54 here - and we get a repeat at 8. Started at 5pm here.

That's a nice thing about being West Coast. We get live stuff live - and then it's repeated for a 2nd time later on during primetime.

by Anonymousreply 138January 6, 2025 3:56 AM

Timothee was NOT happy his name was not called!

by Anonymousreply 139January 6, 2025 3:56 AM

Meh.

by Anonymousreply 140January 6, 2025 3:56 AM

I swear, every time Viola Davis is on stage either presenting or accepting an award she always has to say 'I'm in awe...' It's tiresome now.

by Anonymousreply 141January 6, 2025 3:56 AM

Where's Halle when you need her? Get off the stage you blowhard.

by Anonymousreply 142January 6, 2025 3:56 AM

Glad Chalamet didn't get it. He needs to get over himself.

by Anonymousreply 143January 6, 2025 3:56 AM

[Quote] Is Akwafina still a thing?

only in convienence stores

by Anonymousreply 144January 6, 2025 3:56 AM

Yesss. So glad he won.

by Anonymousreply 145January 6, 2025 3:56 AM

That's the ugliest nose I've ever seen.

by Anonymousreply 146January 6, 2025 3:57 AM

My pussy stinks! 😷

by Anonymousreply 147January 6, 2025 3:57 AM

Yay Adrien!

by Anonymousreply 148January 6, 2025 3:57 AM

The roving camera during the speech is a choice.

by Anonymousreply 149January 6, 2025 3:57 AM

Wow. Just one measly acting win for a Brit this year. They used to win half the awards at the Golden Globes.

by Anonymousreply 150January 6, 2025 3:57 AM

The Timmy haters are so pathetically sad.

How empty your lives must be.

by Anonymousreply 151January 6, 2025 3:57 AM

They're going for movie subject rather than best actor performance. You're dead to me, Golden Globes. Fraud!

by Anonymousreply 152January 6, 2025 3:57 AM

R141 Viola is phony baloney cunt. I still remember when she did that awful pretentious tribute after Leslie Jordan died.

by Anonymousreply 153January 6, 2025 3:57 AM

Much more prevalent now, R107, unfortunately.

by Anonymousreply 154January 6, 2025 3:57 AM

R141 because, like that other insufferable Negress Cheryl Lee Ralph, she thinks even her award presentation speeches will win awards.

by Anonymousreply 155January 6, 2025 3:58 AM

He messed up Domingo’s name lol.

by Anonymousreply 156January 6, 2025 3:58 AM

He would be a handsome guy if he had that nose fixed.

by Anonymousreply 157January 6, 2025 3:58 AM

Do they all call him “Timmy” now?!

His stans will not stand for that!

by Anonymousreply 158January 6, 2025 3:58 AM

Adrien Brody is smoldering.

by Anonymousreply 159January 6, 2025 3:58 AM

So much for awards show buzz to help ACU at the box office. Now it’s going to sink during the January doldrums.

by Anonymousreply 160January 6, 2025 3:58 AM

R155 🛑. Criticize them but don’t use the word negress again.

by Anonymousreply 161January 6, 2025 3:59 AM

wtf is brody wearing? a brooch?

by Anonymousreply 162January 6, 2025 3:59 AM

He does go on.

by Anonymousreply 163January 6, 2025 3:59 AM

Get the fuck off the stage. He and Viola think a mic in their face is a therapy session.

by Anonymousreply 164January 6, 2025 3:59 AM

Didn't Adrien already win for the Penist?

by Anonymousreply 165January 6, 2025 3:59 AM

Angelina should have won for her brilliant performance in 'Maria.'

by Anonymousreply 166January 6, 2025 3:59 AM

Timothy has had a massive year with big box office - not winning is no shame.

I doubt Adrien will get the Oscar - he already has one and he ruined his reputation by being an asshole.

by Anonymousreply 167January 6, 2025 3:59 AM

About a hundred years ago, R165.

by Anonymousreply 168January 6, 2025 4:00 AM

We're supposed to feel sorry for him that he won before and thought he would never win again???

Movie stars are the most ridiculously self-pitying people ever.

by Anonymousreply 169January 6, 2025 4:00 AM

Did they give Nikki Glaser the boot? I am on hour three and she has not show up for an hour.

by Anonymousreply 170January 6, 2025 4:00 AM

There's nothing worse than an acting speech with tears included.

by Anonymousreply 171January 6, 2025 4:00 AM

So, do we think this will mean Erivo and Chalamet lost the Oscar tonight, too?

by Anonymousreply 172January 6, 2025 4:00 AM

R165 Hi Colin Farrell

by Anonymousreply 173January 6, 2025 4:00 AM

R166=Anjie.

by Anonymousreply 174January 6, 2025 4:00 AM

R161 is the poster who used the nonexistent word "sike" in a recent thread.

Shut up.

by Anonymousreply 175January 6, 2025 4:01 AM

Adrien Brody could inhale Peru with that nose.

by Anonymousreply 176January 6, 2025 4:01 AM

Nikki's changing into her 7th gown as I type.

by Anonymousreply 177January 6, 2025 4:01 AM

[quote] Angelina should have won for her brilliant performance in 'Maria.'

No. It was only a decent performance in a weak movie.

by Anonymousreply 178January 6, 2025 4:01 AM

Why does Jeremy Strong look like a Curious George character??

by Anonymousreply 179January 6, 2025 4:01 AM

Jolie high as a kite.

by Anonymousreply 180January 6, 2025 4:01 AM

r170 - she got sick midway through

by Anonymousreply 181January 6, 2025 4:01 AM

Adrian Brody suffers PTSD from the extreme weight loss he endured for his role in The Pianist. Perhaps he needs to stage an intervention for Grande and Erivo.

by Anonymousreply 182January 6, 2025 4:01 AM

Is Adian Brody an asshole?

by Anonymousreply 183January 6, 2025 4:02 AM

Chalamet sure is, R183.

by Anonymousreply 184January 6, 2025 4:02 AM

[Quote] He would be a handsome guy if he had that nose fixed

can anything be done about his eyebrows?

by Anonymousreply 185January 6, 2025 4:02 AM

R166 Hollywood took Brad's side during the divorce. She's not gonna win shit. But I did like the movie and I thought she was great in it.

by Anonymousreply 186January 6, 2025 4:02 AM

Adrian Brody has enormous dick energy.

by Anonymousreply 187January 6, 2025 4:02 AM

[quote]Jolie high as a kite.

And getting the cold shoulder a lot, I'd guess.

by Anonymousreply 188January 6, 2025 4:02 AM

It's 11:03. Is Adrien Brody still talking?

by Anonymousreply 189January 6, 2025 4:03 AM

Why did Jeremy Strong wear an upside down flower pot on his head ?

by Anonymousreply 190January 6, 2025 4:03 AM

Is Glenn here to present the Obits?

by Anonymousreply 191January 6, 2025 4:03 AM

Glenn needs to fire her plastic surgeon

by Anonymousreply 192January 6, 2025 4:03 AM

DL is meaner than usual tonight. I’ve had sufficient.

by Anonymousreply 193January 6, 2025 4:03 AM

[quote] So, do we think this will mean Erivo and Chalamet lost the Oscar tonight, too?

Cynthia never had a shot at the Oscar, if only because no one ever wins for Part I of a movie (when they have yet to see Part II). But her whining about the fans altering her poster earned her "Lily Gladstone annoying points."

Chalamet still has a good shot, although it's more like to go to Brody.

by Anonymousreply 194January 6, 2025 4:03 AM

Jeeze, I had no idea Brody is with the ex-Mrs Weinstein.

by Anonymousreply 195January 6, 2025 4:04 AM

Is Glenn wearing graffiti or tinsel?

by Anonymousreply 196January 6, 2025 4:04 AM

Why is Glenn wearing gloves? Illness ?

by Anonymousreply 197January 6, 2025 4:04 AM

You can go home now Kylie

by Anonymousreply 198January 6, 2025 4:04 AM

Glenn's face looks great, but her dress is a fright.

by Anonymousreply 199January 6, 2025 4:04 AM

Oh Glennie - that hair and dress is....a choice. Were you a last minute replacement?

by Anonymousreply 200January 6, 2025 4:04 AM

I'm convinced that Ralph Fiennes never wins because he doesn't suck up. It's unfair since he's more than a cut above the rest.

by Anonymousreply 201January 6, 2025 4:05 AM

Glenn Close looks good for someone pushing 78. I think she can still pull off 50ish Norma Desmond if the movie is ever made. Especially with the right filters and lighting.

by Anonymousreply 202January 6, 2025 4:05 AM

[quote] Why is Glenn wearing gloves?

In order to keep her hands soft for fisting at the afterparty.

by Anonymousreply 203January 6, 2025 4:05 AM

The little girl holding the award needs to fire her stylist.

by Anonymousreply 204January 6, 2025 4:06 AM

The highlight was when the camera to cut to Hugh Grant and he yawing. Sums it up for the evening.

by Anonymousreply 205January 6, 2025 4:06 AM

[quote]Chalamet still has a good shot

No R194. No.

by Anonymousreply 206January 6, 2025 4:06 AM

Wait, is everyone sure that's actually Georgina Chapman (Weinstein) with Adrien Brody?

by Anonymousreply 207January 6, 2025 4:06 AM

[quote]Is Glenn wearing graffiti or tinsel?

I'm not sure. But it looks awful.

by Anonymousreply 208January 6, 2025 4:06 AM

I have no fucking idea what in the hell "The Brutalist" is about.

Never heard of it.

Will never watch it.

I hate when awards shows gives major awards to these obscure movies.

Even the winners know that they don't deserve it.

by Anonymousreply 209January 6, 2025 4:06 AM

No shot, r194.

These are exactly the Academy Awards results, Actor and Picture.

by Anonymousreply 210January 6, 2025 4:06 AM

Hugh Grant = yawning.

by Anonymousreply 211January 6, 2025 4:07 AM

[quote] Wait, is everyone sure that's actually Georgina Chapman (Weinstein) with Adrien Brody?

It's THE BEAUTIFUL Georgina Chapman.

by Anonymousreply 212January 6, 2025 4:07 AM

Yes, it's her R207.

by Anonymousreply 213January 6, 2025 4:07 AM

Why is Glenn wearing gloves? Liver spots darling

by Anonymousreply 214January 6, 2025 4:07 AM

Look at how self-righteous this asshole is.

by Anonymousreply 215January 6, 2025 4:07 AM

who is this blabbering angry man?

by Anonymousreply 216January 6, 2025 4:07 AM

“I only wrote one speech…”

I guess his IPhone is the low-memory model. Sad!

by Anonymousreply 217January 6, 2025 4:07 AM

[quote]The little girl holding the award needs to fire her stylist.

They dressed her like the grandmother of the bride, poor thing.

by Anonymousreply 218January 6, 2025 4:07 AM

You can have all the plastic surgery in the world on your face, but they can't do a damn thing about your crone-like hands. Wear gloves, ladies!

by Anonymousreply 219January 6, 2025 4:07 AM

um. wtf?

by Anonymousreply 220January 6, 2025 4:08 AM

R209, Stop. Google. Read. Or keep sounding ignorant, your choice.

by Anonymousreply 221January 6, 2025 4:08 AM

They didn’t give Glazer much to do. She’s usually very raunchy but was subdued tonight. This felt too much like the Oscars.

by Anonymousreply 222January 6, 2025 4:08 AM

The Golden Globes don't mean shit. It's the oscars that are the jewel in the crown.

by Anonymousreply 223January 6, 2025 4:08 AM

Cage looks like crap

by Anonymousreply 224January 6, 2025 4:08 AM

I hope the Academy Awards are better than this.

All of these winners at the Golden Globes really sucked.

Never heard of any of these movies or actors, except for Timmy and his movie, and Conclave.

They really need to start recognizing younger actors, or these awards shows are DEAD in 10 years.

by Anonymousreply 225January 6, 2025 4:09 AM

nicolas cage looks like a country western version of david gest.

by Anonymousreply 226January 6, 2025 4:09 AM

WOAH Nick. I'm gonna wake up with a hangover just looking at him.

by Anonymousreply 227January 6, 2025 4:09 AM

Nicholas Cage looks like he just crawled out of his coffin.

by Anonymousreply 228January 6, 2025 4:09 AM

R204 😂

by Anonymousreply 229January 6, 2025 4:09 AM

I guess they really hated Anora and A Complete Unknown.

by Anonymousreply 230January 6, 2025 4:09 AM

Even the Cathedral of Notre Dame has not had the level of restoration that Nic Cage's face has had.

by Anonymousreply 231January 6, 2025 4:09 AM

R212, I believe the word was "gorgeous"!

by Anonymousreply 232January 6, 2025 4:09 AM

Nicholas Cage? wtf? They couldn’t find anyone else.

by Anonymousreply 233January 6, 2025 4:09 AM

Fuck Emilia Perez.

by Anonymousreply 234January 6, 2025 4:10 AM

“That foreign woman” is Fernanda Torres, the daughter of Fernanda Montenegro, who lost out to Paltrow 20 years ago.

[quote]They really need to start recognizing younger actors, or these awards shows are DEAD in 10 years.

I agree. The same could be said for the Democratic Party.

by Anonymousreply 238January 6, 2025 4:10 AM

R201, Ralph Fiennes has always been under appreciated by the major awards bodies. He was robbed of the Oscar for Schindler’s List and I hoped he would get his due this year; alas, it’s not to be.

Silver lining — Timothee Chalamet also lost.

by Anonymousreply 239January 6, 2025 4:10 AM

[quote]The Golden Globes don't mean shit. It's the oscars that are the jewel in the crown.

Not True At All ! They awarded me for 'Yentl' and the Oscars snubbed me, those cocksuckers !

by Anonymousreply 240January 6, 2025 4:11 AM

Has anybody seen this movie?

by Anonymousreply 241January 6, 2025 4:11 AM

She looks so feminine. (I tried.)

by Anonymousreply 242January 6, 2025 4:11 AM

The Oscar will go to Cynthia or Demi.

The Globes blew it by not rewarding Pamela Anderson. This actress who won was such a wild card that it has basically rendered the best actress race wide open. This woman is not winning best actress and as no one heard of her prior to twenty minutes ago.

R325 a double WHO?

by Anonymousreply 243January 6, 2025 4:12 AM

The orange.... a handsome woman.

by Anonymousreply 244January 6, 2025 4:12 AM

by Anonymousreply 247January 6, 2025 4:12 AM

Benny Blanco acting like he is at a rock concert. Classless.

by Anonymousreply 248January 6, 2025 4:12 AM

Emilia Pérez is a very original film. A crime story with music and a trans lead.

by Anonymousreply 249January 6, 2025 4:12 AM

The narcissism tonight is off the charts!

by Anonymousreply 250January 6, 2025 4:12 AM

Nikki Glaser looks like she has had some bad plastic surgery.

by Anonymousreply 251January 6, 2025 4:12 AM

Nicholas Cage is looking good. He was doing great until he did shit movies for the money, honey. Nevertheless, loved him in Peggy Sue and Moonstruck.

by Anonymousreply 252January 6, 2025 4:12 AM

That was a sweet little speech, and all the better for being short.

by Anonymousreply 253January 6, 2025 4:13 AM

Emilia Perez r241? It's on Netflix for anyone to watch.

If you meant the Brutalist it's only in like 7 theaters but it's expanding next weekend.

by Anonymousreply 254January 6, 2025 4:13 AM

SUCK IT, WICKED!

[italic]And thanks for the spoiled dolmas!

by Anonymousreply 255January 6, 2025 4:13 AM

by Anonymousreply 259January 6, 2025 4:14 AM

Can anyone recommend any movies? (Ideally, people who have actually seen them.)

by Anonymousreply 260January 6, 2025 4:14 AM

The room was filled tonight with so many amazing veteran actors who are FILLED with talent, and the Golden Globes awarded the shittiest of the shit.

No one we've ever heard of, in movies we've never seen.

How fucking ridiculous.

by Anonymousreply 261January 6, 2025 4:15 AM

[quote] The Oscar will go to Cynthia or Demi.

Oh my sides, R243!

by Anonymousreply 262January 6, 2025 4:15 AM

Academy, don't shit on Ralph Fiennes or your biggest audience will withdraw. Not a threat, just a friendly reminder. A serious one.

by Anonymousreply 263January 6, 2025 4:15 AM

Now, just imagine watching this all over again at the Oscars with all those technical awards and the winners thanking their grandmothers and children.

by Anonymousreply 264January 6, 2025 4:16 AM

Well we know nothing about you or what type of movies you you like r260. All movies aren't really going to be meant for everyone.

by Anonymousreply 265January 6, 2025 4:16 AM

I hope that the Academy Awards does not repeat any of these Golden Globes winners.

It will show that the Academy voters actually know what in the fuck they are talking about.

Golden Globes voters clearly know CRAP.

by Anonymousreply 266January 6, 2025 4:17 AM

Unless you actually saw those films and so can judge them, r261 (and I bet you didn't), you don't really have any business calling them "the shittiest of the shit." You don't know how good they are or are not.

But I agree it's weird that these winning films are so obscure. No matter how many awards they win, really hardly anyone is going to see Emilia Perez or The Brutalist.

by Anonymousreply 268January 6, 2025 4:17 AM

I recommend A Real Pain and Emilia Pérez. Haven’t seen The Brutalist or Wicked. I think Ralph’s Fiennes is a great actor but Conclave was an overrated piece of stale cheese.

by Anonymousreply 269January 6, 2025 4:17 AM

..Ralph…

by Anonymousreply 270January 6, 2025 4:18 AM

R236

For Call Me by Your Name Timothee was named Best Actor by the New York Film Critics Circle, The National Society of Film Critics and the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award

These are awarded by critics who have actually seen the films and performances

by Anonymousreply 271January 6, 2025 4:18 AM

Ralph Fiennes doesn’t campaign which hurts his chances to win, I think Brody is unbeatable at this point and Saldana and Culkin are close to locks for the wins.

by Anonymousreply 272January 6, 2025 4:19 AM

Awards are suppose to go to the "most deserving" movies Not the most popular. If you haven't seen any of these movies well that's on you to see more than just Hollywood blockbusters.

by Anonymousreply 273January 6, 2025 4:19 AM

R246: Except he doesn't have the talent.

by Anonymousreply 274January 6, 2025 4:19 AM

I’m fine with different winners for the Oscars. Share the wealth.

by Anonymousreply 275January 6, 2025 4:19 AM

Adrien Brody has a nice body and looks good in a tux or whatever he's wearing at this year's GG.

by Anonymousreply 276January 6, 2025 4:20 AM

A Complete Unknown, Queer, and the Pedro Almodovar flick all got shut out.

by Anonymousreply 277January 6, 2025 4:20 AM

In what world was A Different Man a comedy? I tgink they confused it with Better Man.

by Anonymousreply 278January 6, 2025 4:21 AM

[quote]Ralph Fiennes doesn’t campaign which hurts his chances to win

So that embarrassing appearance on the CNN NYE show was just for kicks?

by Anonymousreply 279January 6, 2025 4:22 AM

Fernanda Montenegro lost out on a Golden Globe Award to Cate Blanchett, and lost out on the Academy Award to Gwyneth Paltrow, R267.

by Anonymousreply 280January 6, 2025 4:22 AM

Adrien Brody would make a very deserving Oscar winner.

by Anonymousreply 281January 6, 2025 4:23 AM

I can't relate to Emilia Perez. That's not at all to say it's not a good movie. I' m old and my time is running out and need to feel something. I rely more on songs now to satisfy that certain feeling I crave. Movies no longer do that. Get better, Hollywood for future generations.

by Anonymousreply 282January 6, 2025 4:23 AM

What a great night - Glen Powell, Angelina Jolie, Timothee Chalamet all snubbed.

by Anonymousreply 283January 6, 2025 4:24 AM

I was not a fan of Emilia Perez honestly (though Zoe Saldana was good). I was rooting for Anora in that category but I honestly would have preferred any of the other nominees to win.

by Anonymousreply 284January 6, 2025 4:25 AM

Emilia Perez is a refreshingly original film. Far more interesting than all the others nominated in both the Drama and Comedy categories (except I haven't yet seen The Brutalist).

All you DL bitches really need to see it.

by Anonymousreply 285January 6, 2025 4:26 AM

R273 bless your heart but I have a hard time reading critical analysis from someone who just typed "suppose to".

by Anonymousreply 286January 6, 2025 4:27 AM

r284, I also loved Anora and was disappointed it got no love tonight. Mikey Madison and the guy who played Igor were superb. I fear it will get snubbed at the Oscars, even for nominations.

by Anonymousreply 287January 6, 2025 4:27 AM

Anora is certain to get Oscar nominations r287. The question is whether it will get any wins.

by Anonymousreply 288January 6, 2025 4:28 AM

Emilia Pérez is no masterpiece but it’s very original. Hopefully the award gets more people to see it. I enjoy films like Parasite and EP that take you on a crazy ride.

by Anonymousreply 289January 6, 2025 4:30 AM

The first film I ever saw Zoe Zaldana in was Drumline. I knew she would go on to great things.

Side note: I didn’t know dyslexia affected your memory.

by Anonymousreply 290January 6, 2025 4:31 AM

[quote] A Complete Unknown, Queer, and the Pedro Almodovar flick all got shut out.

I hope that's not the case at the Academy Awards.

I hope they do better at the Academy Awards.

by Anonymousreply 291January 6, 2025 4:31 AM

I need to catch up on my viewing starting with Emilia Pérez and Anora.

by Anonymousreply 292January 6, 2025 4:33 AM

My favorite joke of the night:

The reason we all became artists is so that we can start a tequila company that is so popular that we never have to be artists again.

by Anonymousreply 293January 6, 2025 4:33 AM

R293: Overall, I thought she was hit and miss but I agree that was a good one. She kind of disappeared more and more as the show went on but that seems to be the case with all award show hosts.

by Anonymousreply 294January 6, 2025 4:35 AM

I liked McCarthy's cocaine bear jokes.

by Anonymousreply 295January 6, 2025 4:35 AM

[quote]I'm convinced that Ralph Fiennes never wins because he doesn't suck up. It's unfair since he's more than a cut above the rest.

He should have won for Sunshine or Schindler's List.

Seriously? The Brutalist is the one I most want to see.

by Anonymousreply 296January 6, 2025 4:38 AM

So how would everyone rate Nikki G as a host? Good? Not good? Just okay?

by Anonymousreply 297January 6, 2025 4:39 AM

[quote] So how would everyone rate Nikki G as a host? Good? Not good? Just okay?

Never heard of her before, so I was pleasantly surprised that I laughed at most of her jokes.

Much better than Jo Koy, that's for sure.

by Anonymousreply 298January 6, 2025 4:40 AM

r297 Hated her. Couldn't stand the sound of her voice. Or having to look at her tits.

by Anonymousreply 299January 6, 2025 4:40 AM

R297 - forgettable. I didn't feel like she added anything. She kinda fell flat.

She's a stand-up - and her comedy just didn't work.

by Anonymousreply 300January 6, 2025 4:41 AM

She has a pretty face & looked cute in her dresses.

by Anonymousreply 301January 6, 2025 4:42 AM

Nikki did a good job. She is certain to be invited back if she wants to keep doing it.

Hosting these things is not easy.

by Anonymousreply 302January 6, 2025 4:45 AM

Stop, r271. Yes, the various Critics' Awards are important, but we all know the major awards are 5: GG; BAFTA; SAG; Critics' Choice; and AA.

by Anonymousreply 303January 6, 2025 4:45 AM

Never knew Glaser before tonight but I appreciated that her jokes were funny without the mean-spiritedness that others bring to the job. Are women just kinder hosts? I felt the same about Amy Poehler and whatshername, too. Even Whoopi was a kinder host.

by Anonymousreply 304January 6, 2025 4:45 AM

I've been eyeing going to the Brutalist. Might make it happen!

by Anonymousreply 305January 6, 2025 4:46 AM

R200, (aka M), you are not allowed to critique anyone’s wardrobe EVER AGAIN… so glad you decided to pay tribute to Carol Burnett, by recreating her Bob Mackie “Went With the Wind” curtain dress last night. 🫣😳🤭

Demi was once the highest paid actress in Hollywood, popcorn or not. I understand she thought she was never going to win any awards but she's had a long and enviable career in Hollywood.

She has a real shot at the Oscar

by Anonymousreply 308January 6, 2025 4:48 AM

I thought the hosting and presenting were well-done, with one exception: Seth Rogen. Didn't read the room, or at least not the evening's tone, instead giving us junior-high boys' humor.

by Anonymousreply 309January 6, 2025 4:49 AM

Goldblum/Yeo were stinkers, too.

by Anonymousreply 310January 6, 2025 4:50 AM

It would be fascinating if Demi Moore won the Oscar.

by Anonymousreply 311January 6, 2025 4:50 AM

Please. Oscar's go to talent.

by Anonymousreply 312January 6, 2025 4:51 AM

[quote] Or having to look at her tits.

Well, R299, you don't want to look at any woman's tits, do you? Glaser was completely fine. And she didn't need to unnecessarily do too much or overdo her presence.

by Anonymousreply 313January 6, 2025 4:52 AM

R311 I'm rooting for her because I know it would cause Glenn to have another meldown.

by Anonymousreply 314January 6, 2025 4:52 AM

Fascinating, R311?

by Anonymousreply 315January 6, 2025 4:52 AM

Hollywood is taking a dive.

by Anonymousreply 316January 6, 2025 4:52 AM

Didn't Ashton cheat on her? Plus Bruce Willis is dying. She may get the sympathy vote too.

by Anonymousreply 317January 6, 2025 4:53 AM

I know it's easier said than done but shouldn't actors be able to get through announcing an awards category with a little stage presence? Sue me, I don't act for a living. Awkafina seemed nervous. Melissa McCarthy swallowed her in that outfit and outshone her in the speaking ability as well. Zoe Kravitz was mumbly. Can you not annunciate this shit with confidence? She looked great if you can get past the buccal fat removal.

by Anonymousreply 318January 6, 2025 4:53 AM

[quote] Oscar's go to talent.

Oh dear, R312. Oscar's what?

by Anonymousreply 319January 6, 2025 4:53 AM

Demi got a tremendous boost tonight, but if she gets Oscar nominated that’ll be the reward. I can’t imagine her beating the likes of Nicole or Angelina. They will give one of them their second before a first for Demi.

by Anonymousreply 320January 6, 2025 4:55 AM

I don't think Angelina was that great in Maria - the film was just weird and depressing. She was fine - but it felt like Angelina, not Maria.

by Anonymousreply 321January 6, 2025 4:57 AM

R321: She wasn't razzie worthy but she and the movie were sure underwhelming.

by Anonymousreply 322January 6, 2025 4:59 AM

[quote] I can’t imagine her beating the likes of Nicole or Angelina.

Is Angelina Jolie's Maria Callas turn actually more than a punchline?

by Anonymousreply 323January 6, 2025 5:00 AM

Thinking that the 2025 Razzie will go to Cate Blanchett for Borderlands.

by Anonymousreply 324January 6, 2025 5:00 AM

Didn't know Jessica Gunning is a lesbian. Explains that dress and holding that golden globe like a softball stick.

by Anonymousreply 325January 6, 2025 5:00 AM

There is no way Jolie is winning for "Maria." She and the film have zero buzz.

by Anonymousreply 326January 6, 2025 5:00 AM

The thought of Demi fucking Moore clutching an Oscar while Glenn Close sits there, still empty-handed, is the kind of cosmic joke that keeps me up at night. The Academy works in mysterious - and deeply absurd - ways.

by Anonymousreply 327January 6, 2025 5:01 AM

Angelina should have put on some weight and used a larger prosthetic nose. I guess her anorexia prevents her from putting on weight like DeNiro and Theron.

by Anonymousreply 328January 6, 2025 5:02 AM

[quote] The thought of Demi fucking Moore clutching an Oscar while Glenn Close sits there, still empty-handed, is the kind of cosmic joke that keeps me up at night.

It keeps you up with impossible delight?

Now I won't get a wink tonight.

by Anonymousreply 329January 6, 2025 5:02 AM

R325, did she thank her girlfriend or something? I missed it.

by Anonymousreply 330January 6, 2025 5:03 AM

I loved Nikki Glaser's little "Pope-ular" skit.

She actually has a great voice, especially considering that she's a comedienne.

The "Insane in the Penguaine" line was hilarious too.

by Anonymousreply 331January 6, 2025 5:03 AM

Demi could do Fatal Attraction, but Glenn couldn’t do GI Jane.

by Anonymousreply 332January 6, 2025 5:03 AM

Nikki Glaser was a good host.

by Anonymousreply 333January 6, 2025 5:05 AM

The Best Actress Oscar is pretty much up for grabs this year. The actress who's been picking up all the critics' awards this year wasn't even nominated tonight (Marianne Jean Baptiste). And Fernanda Torres probably will not even be nominated by the Academy.

I think Demi may be this year's Jamie Lee Curtis---her campaign for the Oscar started tonight!

by Anonymousreply 334January 6, 2025 5:05 AM

Demi couldn't do GI Jane now, either, R332.

by Anonymousreply 335January 6, 2025 5:06 AM

R334 Cynthia Eviro is going to win that award.

by Anonymousreply 336January 6, 2025 5:07 AM

R328 - well, Callas was extremely thin particularly at the end, so that fits. The nose would have gone a LONG way - and I don't think it would have been too much work.

by Anonymousreply 337January 6, 2025 5:07 AM

No R335, but Demi looks fucking FANTASTIC for her age.

Exactly the same as 40 years ago.

No one asked for a Callas movie. Bradley Cooper as Leonard Bernstein was Plenty. Had sufficient. I'd rather pretend to enjoy Timmy as Bob Dylan.

They really need to get rid of the Box Office Achievement category. Total bullshit.

by Anonymousreply 342January 6, 2025 5:09 AM

The best part of the evening was Miss Chalamet losing and looking resentful.

That would be 1/12!

by Anonymousreply 346January 6, 2025 5:12 AM

R326 who would you pick then? Even with a globe win, I think Torres and critics darling Marianne Jean Baptiste are long shots at this point. Not enough voters will see their films. They are not giving it Erivo for part one. Besides Wicked is more a tech achievement than anything else. Mikey Madison, along with Tilda Swinton, might pick up some traction as award season presses on. But I’m still leaning towards Nicole or Angelina. Hell Adrien and Nicole might repeat their lead actor and actress Oscar wins from 21 years ago.

by Anonymousreply 347January 6, 2025 5:13 AM

The best part of the evening was Andrew Scott excitedly talking to Colin Farrell, hands on Colin's shoulders, in one of the break shots.

by Anonymousreply 348January 6, 2025 5:15 AM

[quote]R318 I know it's easier said than done but shouldn't actors be able to get through announcing an awards category with a little stage presence?

I think it’s hard for some for 2 reasons.

1.) the jokes are rewritten up to the last minute, so sometimes they’re reading material they’ve never seen before off the teleprompter.

2.) some of them have no stage training or experience, and are therefore not confident public speakers. They’re just used to acting on a dark, secluded soundstage.

by Anonymousreply 349January 6, 2025 5:17 AM

Demi could do The Big Chill, but Glenn couldn’t do Striptease.

by Anonymousreply 350January 6, 2025 5:17 AM

Nobody will ever top Tina Fey's line when Gravity was nominated. "Geoerge Clooney would rather float off into space and die than spend another minute with a woman his own age."

Me too.

by Anonymousreply 354January 6, 2025 5:19 AM

I bet Margaret Cho's house gets a little quiet whenever Ali Wong, fellow Asian female comic from San Francisco gets a win.

by Anonymousreply 355January 6, 2025 5:19 AM

It's weird how Nikki Glaser was asked to host the GGs, but she didn't even win in the Best Stand Up Comedy category.

Every single nominee in that category was funnier than Ali Wong.

The only award show I enjoy is the Oscars. To this very day, The Godfather was the most worthy winner. Perfection. Everything and everyone came together, Coppola got lucky, it was meant to be. And the cherry on top was the music.

by Anonymousreply 358January 6, 2025 5:22 AM

Demi has begun the perfect Oscar campaign tonight. She needs to keep it simple and not go the Jamie Lee route to really get the voters of her generation behind her. Her speech was quite moving and thoughtful. She's had a long career. Was once the highest paid actress for a terrible choice of a film and quickly usurped by Roberts for My Best Friend's Wedding. But all this is such a great narrative that can get her into real contention she was not in before tonight. I'm rooting for her.

by Anonymousreply 359January 6, 2025 5:22 AM

R350 - Striptease? That was the middle brow Showgirls.

Demi made a lot of bad stuff - popcorn like she said. I don't think anyone is going to be throwing scripts for Meryl or Glenn to Demi after this win. It's a one and done.

by Anonymousreply 372January 6, 2025 5:30 AM

She was great. My only criticism is that she got Botox to close to the ceremony. Certain parts of her face wouldn’t move.

by Anonymousreply 373January 6, 2025 5:31 AM

And that was a good joke, too, R371.

by Anonymousreply 374January 6, 2025 5:31 AM

I don’t anticipte any Oscar love for Demi Moore, she never got much respect in that town, and her movie sounds like a freak show horror movie, which means that a large swath of voters will never even condescend to see it.

by Anonymousreply 381January 6, 2025 5:33 AM

One things for sure, if Demi does win the Oscar they should have Will Smith present best actress. Oh that’s right he is banned for a few years 😂.

by Anonymousreply 382January 6, 2025 5:34 AM

Demi could do Maxie but Glenn couldn't sing Sunset Boulevard.

by Anonymousreply 383January 6, 2025 5:34 AM

Demi’s gown was flawless and apparently that’s all her REAL hair. No extensions for Goddess Moore.

by Anonymousreply 384January 6, 2025 5:35 AM

R384 She did look great. I won’t lie. I love a good looking older woman.

by Anonymousreply 385January 6, 2025 5:35 AM

by Anonymousreply 391January 6, 2025 5:39 AM

At this point I really think the Best Actor Oscar race is really just between three people -- Brody, Fiennes and Chalamet -- with the other two slots just basically being filler (and I say that with no disrespect intended towards Domingo, Stan and Craig, whomever the final two will be).

As for Best Actress, I really feel that's pretty wide open at this point, though agree with the poster above that Angelina is a long shot as "Maria" has little to no buzz.

by Anonymousreply 392January 6, 2025 5:39 AM

Y'know - I really think they should show BAFTAs in US primetime. I know it would be taped - fine.

I need a new award show that's a bit different.

by Anonymousreply 393January 6, 2025 5:40 AM

I was disappointed that Ripley got nothing. Andrew Scott gave a memorable performance as Tom Ripley.

by Anonymousreply 394January 6, 2025 5:41 AM

I think Pam lost a lot of momentum to Demi/The Substance. Both films have similar themes and both actresses are fighting back against outdated “bimbo” narratives. In any other year, Pam would be a lock but The Last Showgirl just isn’t as flashy or fun as The Substance.

by Anonymousreply 395January 6, 2025 5:41 AM

R392 I think it’s definitely between Brody and Chamalet. As far as the Oscars though, it’s just an honor to even be nominated.

by Anonymousreply 396January 6, 2025 5:41 AM

by Anonymousreply 397January 6, 2025 5:41 AM

R389 - I mean...we're talking Pam Anderson of Baywatch and Barbed Wire fame.

For her - really the nomination is a massive step forward. She hasn't done much and was never a film star. I could see her getting some small stuff now. Her voice though - it's a bit too high and bubbly for a serious actress.

by Anonymousreply 400January 6, 2025 5:43 AM

R395 has it right. Moore just pulled ahead on this narrative and has a much longer career to ride on.

by Anonymousreply 401January 6, 2025 5:43 AM

R395 Agreed. And the Academy are snobs to an extent; they don’t nominate fluke performances even when they deserve merit. Pamela Anderson has never garnered any critical acclaim. It’s the same reason they didn’t give JLo a nod for Hustlers, even though she deserved it.

by Anonymousreply 402January 6, 2025 5:43 AM

I agree, R394. He deserved to win.

by Anonymousreply 403January 6, 2025 5:43 AM

R397 Of course. Demi is doing a line off the back of the toilet at the Chateau Marmont as we speak. Miley Cyrus gave her the blow.

by Anonymousreply 405January 6, 2025 5:46 AM

by Anonymousreply 406January 6, 2025 5:47 AM

[quote] [R387] Some women don’t need weaves though. They just naturally have beautiful hair. I doubt Jennifer Aniston or Tracey Ellis Ross ever wears a weave.

For an awards night, even women with beautiful hair use extensions. Nothing is wrong with that.

by Anonymousreply 407January 6, 2025 5:47 AM

That’s why I cited them. Because they have absolutely beautiful hair. They don’t need weaves unless they have cut it and want a longer length. They have too much body. What would a weave do.

Only because the voters for the Golden Globes are FOREIGNERS.

Academy voters are American, and they will have a very different take on nominees and winners, with the exception of Adrien Brody, whose movie character is catnip for the Oscars.

The Hollywood Foreign Press was acting out, with their ridiculous winners.

No one knows who they are. No one will see these movies.

The HFP had an opportunity this year to award some BIG NAMES this year, and add star power to their awards show. There was so much legendary talent in that room tonight.

Instead, the HFP went with a mind boggling list of "winners."

And I'm really hoping that will not be the case with the Academy Awards.

Has anyone seen The Brutalist?? I have, and it's shocking that it won Best Picture. Adrien Brody is good, but the script sucks! SPOILER ALERT Did you know there's a ridiculous, gratuitous male-on-male rape scene (Guy on Adrian), which comes out of nowhere and just feels... bizarre. A true head scratcher, in that it makes no sense other than to give Felicity Jones her one "big scene" where she confronts Guy Pearce... and the movie just fizzles after that. Not many people will be drawn to seeing a 3.5 hour movie (with previews and intermission it's really a 4 hour commitment)... and I doubt the Oscar voters will rally behind it as the word spreads.

[quote] Golden Globes 2025 highlights: Nikki Glaser shows how to host an awards ceremony, 'Emilia Pérez' and 'The Brutalist' stake claim in Oscars race

The stage has been set for the Oscars race

Since it’s the first major awards show ahead of the Oscars, the actors who took home trophies came as a surprise to many. Zoe Saldaña, Kieran Culkin, Demi Moore, Fernanda Torres and Adrien Brody are all now frontrunners. They delivered emotional speeches — although Culkin’s prevailing emotion was humor.

There were a few snubs of note, as well. Angelina Jolie was expected to win Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture — Drama, but the trophy went to Fernanda Torres. The critical darling Anora was shut out entirely, and the ever-popular Wicked won one award for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. The Wild Robot was expected to win Best Motion Picture — Animated but lost to the dialogue-free Latvian film Flow.

Nikki Glaser is a bona fide awards-hosting star

From her hilarious monologue to her series of impressive outfit changes, Nikki Glaser is earning rave reviews for her performance as the host of the ceremony.

Towards the end of this year's Globes, Andrew Garfield and Kerry Washington presented the Best Female Actor - Musical/Comedy Award, which Demi Moore took home in a historic win. While cinephiles were psyched that The Substance got it flowers, the internet exploded over the way the Spider-Man actor put on his glasses to read from the teleprompter.

Despite it getting late into the Golden Globes telecast, the internet blew up as a result of Garfield's glasses move. Thirsty tweets began showing up on X/Twitter, including some funny memes that were used to share how steamy they thought Garfield was in that moment.

Honestly, same. While wearing glasses isn't usually considered such a turn on, the way Andrew Garfield slipped them on and adjusted his necklace while presenting at the Golden Globes had people feeling some type of way. And smart money says the gif of him doing so is going to be circulating online for quite some time.

While the 41 year-old actor is getting tons of love for his tenure as Spider-Man, this glasses move might have temporarily eclipsed those talks. Another tweet about this moment was very plain about its language, reading:

[quote] that was the hottest thing i've ever seen (andrew garfield putting his glasses on)

Social media users were quick to pick up on the awkwardness in the room on Sunday night. “You can cut the tension between The Rock and Vin Diesel with a knife,” one user wrote.

“I thought some s*** was gonna pop off,” said another. “Tonight we got to see what the rock looks like when he’s fantasizing about tearing vin diesel in half,” added another user.

“You could literally see The Rock’s hatred towards Vin Diesel in that shot. Oh my gosh… Amazing haha.”

[quote]I was reading this article about Demi's family celebrating her Golden Globe win at home, and I just realized that she didn't thank any of them. Not even her daughters. Her speech was all about HER.

Why should she thank her daughters though? They don’t have any influence on her career.

by Anonymousreply 481January 6, 2025 5:42 PM

[quote] Why should she thank her daughters though? They don’t have any influence on her career.

Perhaps for the same reason that nearly ALL OTHER award winners thank their families.

For their LOVE and SUPPORT.

Seriously, are you REALLY that stupid???

Well, maybe they don't love and support her?

by Anonymousreply 483January 6, 2025 5:50 PM

R482 get lost. You are an idiot. Maybe she simply forgot. Maybe her children had no impact on her interpretation of the main character in The Substance. How does that make her narcissistic because that’s exactly what you were trying to imply.

Garfield clearly wrote that, R476.

R476 Garfield adjusted his shirt opening, not his necklace. For such a move on camera, I thought he should have been more deliberate about it. The glasses move was graceful though.

Is he still a single man?

by Anonymousreply 487January 6, 2025 7:04 PM

Garfield knew he looked hot and did a great job creating a moment for himself. Everything you hope to achieve as a presenter.

I still don’t think Sebastian Stan will get an Oscar nomination. There is no chance he’ll be nominated for playing Donald Trump, even if BAFTA does.

And nobody has seen A Different Man and it is a tough sit. I can’t see AMPAS members prioritising their viewing of that film all of a sudden this week and vote for it by Sunday.

by Anonymousreply 494January 6, 2025 7:22 PM

[quote] I still don’t think Sebastian Stan will get an Oscar nomination. There is no chance he’ll be nominated for playing Donald Trump, even if BAFTA does.

Exactly.

The Academy is terrified of Trump.

No Trump jokes. No mention of politics. No criticizing Trump.

And "The Apprentice" shall be STRICKEN from Hollywood records.

Hollywood and AMPAS are TERRIFIED of Trump.

They are cowards, and they will acquiesce.

Welcome to the new America.

by Anonymousreply 496January 6, 2025 7:28 PM

The Academy isn’t terrified of Trump. Hollywood just realized that the politics was backfiring. Instead of swaying minds, too many Americans hated them. Award show ratings are in the toilet. Why turn off even a small part of your audience with lectures.

by Anonymousreply 497January 6, 2025 7:41 PM

No, R495. I think it’s more that everyone is sick of Trump and he makes them want to vomit and the last thing they want to do is acknowledge him because someone made a cheap, middling film about him.

There’s nothing to fear about Trump and his minions. They’ll do themselves in.

by Anonymousreply 498January 6, 2025 7:48 PM

DEMI MOORE IS COMING FOR THAT OSCAR, PEOPLE!!

And I am here for it!!

She is a fucking icon! And I think a lot of people feel she was hard done by in the ‘90s. The Substance has revised her entire career - from posing nude and pregnant on the cover of Vanity Fair to the statement body horror of The Substance, people see she always took the risks, from the physical pain of G.I. Jane (which opened No. 1 at the box office) to being Hollywood’s highest paid actress, she paid her dues. And The Substance is the film of the year - grossing nearly $80M globally!

Demi is going to win.

by Anonymousreply 499January 6, 2025 7:55 PM

What show was the very first time we were introduced to Jodie Foster? Some sit-com 1960’s-70’s?

by Anonymousreply 501January 6, 2025 7:57 PM

Go Tell Aunt Rhody, R500.

by Anonymousreply 502January 6, 2025 7:58 PM

R454, personally I am tired of actors thanking their children or telling them to go to bed while receiving prizes. Acceptance speeches used to be much shorter and simpler on average, with the recipient thanking the people directly involved in their film as opposed to trying (and often, failing) to be profound and moving.

by Anonymousreply 503January 6, 2025 8:01 PM

R499 $80M globally!!!! does not make any film "the film of the year", you fucking hyperbolic nimrod.

Zoe Saldaña, Kieran Culkin, and Adrien Brody have been front runners for many weeks. Saldaña and Culkin have won the lion's share of critic awards and Brody, as well. It would be very unlikely for them to NOT get AA noms and they're all pretty likely to win.

I'm glad Angelina Jolie didn't win anything. She only settled her divorce because Maria was a contender for awards season.

I hope the voters don't forget she alienated Brad from the kids, although I'm sure if Maria is nominated for several Oscars, Angelina will surely dump all the kids on Brad's doorstep with their luggage.

Off topic: I wonder why they named the film "Maria" and not the singer's nickname which was "La Callas"

R594 Probably because the poorly educated wouldn't know how to pronounce it. La CaLLAS? La CALlas?

Maria's just easier.

For context:

R30 I want Paul W. Downs inside me quite as deeply as he can go.

R578 so roughly 6 inches, depending on the fat deposits around your butt hole.

It's funny how booked and busy the Fanning sisters are. They act all the time! And Dakota's only 30. They must be doing something right. I kind of like that.. actors who act and aren't most famous for their personal lives.

I thought Andrew Garfield was very effective in Under the Banner of Heaven and wouldn't mind at all if he wanted to be my boyfriend.
