Who Should Get The Presidential Medal of Freedom But Hasn't?
It's always such a mixed bag of choices...lots of politicians and former politicians and big donors to the respective political parties. And, "stars". This year's list includes such odd choices as Bill Nye the Science Guy and Anna Wintour.
Who haven't they chosen over the years who should have been honored?
Link to the list of folks who have already gotten it:

It's a shame the MoF isn't more like the honors bestowed by the Queen and now King in the UK. (I typed "Queen" reflexively, but decided to leave it in) There are honors for the arts, letters, and sciences, but also a lot of "regular" people who do extraordinary things in community development and charity.
If I were Joe, I'd have given one to Mackenzie Scott in recognition of her generosity with grass roots community groups that are hands on and boots in the field for many worthy causes. Also, to piss off Musk. DK if Jeff would care beyond the fact that it would contrast his declining taste in women and support for autocracies.

Anita Hill would be a good choice to piss off Clarence.

[QUOTE]Norma McCorvey aka Jane Roe in Roe v Wade
No.
[QUOTE]Later in her life, McCorvey became an Evangelical Protestant and in her remaining years, a Roman Catholic, and took part in the anti-abortion movement.[3] McCorvey stated then that her involvement in Roe was "the biggest mistake of [her] life".[4] However, in the Nick Sweeney documentary AKA Jane Roe, McCorvey said, in what she called her "deathbed confession", that "she never really supported the anti-abortion movement" and that she had been paid for her anti-abortion sentiments.[5]

It's a pretty weird mix of folks that have been awarded it. Some good, some bad. If I were President, I'd give it out to actual scientists (not Bill Nye), artists, and others who have made significant contributions to make this a better place.
Trump will probably give it to himself. I'm only half kidding on that part. But you know Elon Musk will get it immediately.

[quote]Dolly Parton
[quote]Now, the country icon says the Trump administration offered her the honor, not once but twice — and she turned it down both times. "I couldn't accept it because my husband was ill, and then they asked me again about it and I wouldn't travel because of the COVID," she said in an interview with the Today show.
[quote]And, she added, "I don't work for those awards. It'd be nice, but I'm not sure that I even deserve it. But that's a nice compliment for people to think that I might deserve it."

The award should be retired as a national embarrassment, considering who all it has been given to, and replaced with a new medal for civilians.

Dolly has the right idea. Her work speaks for itself, and she is greatly admired. She doesn’t need any fake embellishment.
