I love it too but Jane was so fucking miscast.

I love this movie because Jane is so much butcher in this than Rock! And Agnes Moorehead plays a sympathetic character very well.

This is such a beautiful movie!! I LOVE the fall colors - just beautiful. Not to mention Agnes Moorehead’s fabulous red hair.

Just found out that TCM will air "All That Heaven Allows" at 11:45 pm/ET on Thursday, Jan. 23.

In the "Deleted Scenes", Rock and Jane's bitchy hot son (played by William Reynolds) have a DL relationship at Rock's luxe cabin unbeknownst to Jane.

I wish Jane would have immediately told her kids to go f*ck themselves and kick in the TV screen for emphasis.

I prefer the 2002 remake/reimagining Far From Heaven:

I love far from heaven but thinking that was a remake was just nuts.

I love Mona, Queen of the Cuntry Club who implies Carrie is getting it off with every man in town.

I love that her kids get her a TV set.

R14: I love, "All That Heaven Allows", and I think Todd Haynes go it, right as an homage to Sirk's films.

Sirk was a genius for covert films. This film is not only about a May/December romance. It's about aging, how we raise our kids, what our children really know about us, blue collar work and blue collar people, and of course, a woman's right to be her own person. The other women hate her in this film because she got what they all secretly wanted and can't have. And like all small, nasty female groups they eat their own first. Jane is good in this picture though there is nothing that can liberate that stick-up-the-butt demeanor of hers. Rock is what he is suppose to be : handsome, available, kind, smart, and has interesting friends. I really see this as her film.

And I wish she had told her kids off too, kicked in the television, and disinherited those two ungrateful, boring, obtuse kids. Sirk is excellent at showing the price children pay for the American dream, and Jane's children are just two examples.

No, it's a ridiculous soap opera movie and Rock Hudson and Jane Wyman are absurd together.

Sirk is one of those people whose work is so shallow that people fall all over themselves trying to "interpret" it and make it seem important and meaningful so they're not embarrassed about watching it.

She was eight years older than he was and looked twice that thanks to her dowdy styling.

I love this beautiful movie. A favorite scene is the party in which she meets his friends and how everyone accepts her and she, them.

I agree with r21. I think most of his movies are ridiculously melodramatic soap operas. I do like some of his early work, especially All I Desire, but then Stanwyck has a way to rise above it and brings some humor to it.
