Am I the only one who's happier when it's very cloudy or rainy outside?

I prefer it to sunshine

by Anonymousreply 47January 7, 2025 6:03 PM

Right there with you. I’d like light jacket weather all year.

by Anonymousreply 1January 4, 2025 9:56 PM

I am with you, OP. Bring on the gloom! I also used to become depressed every spring, when the weather became sunny and warm.

by Anonymousreply 2January 4, 2025 9:56 PM

Yes! I moved from Palm Springs back to the PNW.

by Anonymousreply 3January 4, 2025 10:10 PM

Not really, but when it's been quite hot and dry during summer I do long for some rain

Count me in. My favourite season is autumn and it has the best clothes too.

by Anonymousreply 5January 4, 2025 10:26 PM

[r-2]Me too. Always.

And I’ve loved Shirley Manson & Garbage’s “Only Happy When it Rains” from the first time I heard it.

“I'm only happy when it rains

I'm only happy when it's complicated

And though I know you can't appreciate it

I'm only happy when it rains

You know I love it when the news is bad

Why it feels so good to feel so sad?

I'm only happy when it rains”

I felt so……(hate to use this word but it’s the right word )……”seen”.

by Anonymousreply 6January 4, 2025 10:42 PM

This is for you OP!

When I see the sun shine through my blinds I know it will be a bad day.

Fuck off this ain’t your personal blog

by Anonymousreply 9January 4, 2025 10:54 PM

I love Shirley Manson, but I hate rain.

by Anonymousreply 10January 4, 2025 11:20 PM

2007 called, OP, it wants it's emo back.

by Anonymousreply 11January 4, 2025 11:31 PM

Everything looks better on cloudy days.

by Anonymousreply 12January 4, 2025 11:55 PM

Love cloudy days. Bright sun gives me headaches.

by Anonymousreply 13January 4, 2025 11:57 PM

Thank you R7: was going to post something …. Mesmerized by this song ; makes me cry remembering the young innocence and foolish happiness of the earlier days of dating and marriage which vanished in 2010;

Rain … oh yes… I wish it could wash away my memories … my ex has none…

by Anonymousreply 14January 5, 2025 12:45 AM

Love the gloom. Wear yellow tinted sunglasses, though to make everything pop!

by Anonymousreply 15January 5, 2025 12:53 AM

I like Seattle gloom better than Oregon gloom. Oregon adds snow to the mix more often and snow isn’t my thing anymore.

by Anonymousreply 16January 5, 2025 12:58 AM

I love rainy days if I can stay at home. Driving in it is okay, except my car is very low and I fear hydroplaning.

by Anonymousreply 17January 5, 2025 1:22 AM

When I was younger I was exactly like you op. Now I love cloudy days and a light drizzle a few times a week but not every damn day. I live in the PNW and the winters filled with endless rain and clouds get really depressing. The clouds on their own aren’t so bad but the rain gets old.

by Anonymousreply 18January 5, 2025 1:28 AM

Yeah rainy days are great if I wasnt planning to go out. Too many rainy days though can be depressing.

by Anonymousreply 19January 5, 2025 1:29 AM

It doesn’t have to necessarily rain but I love overcast weather. Especially those days where the grey clouds have all those beautiful color variations and texture.

by Anonymousreply 20January 5, 2025 1:33 AM

I could take three days of gloom to one day of sun.

I'm thinking of others with that allowance.

by Anonymousreply 21January 5, 2025 1:34 AM

Sorry, OP… but rainy days and Mondays always get me down.

I detest full sunshine, so yeah, I prefer the rain

by Anonymousreply 23January 5, 2025 1:45 AM

Tomato, Tomahto.

by Anonymousreply 24January 5, 2025 1:47 AM

I love cloudy weather but I like rain only if I don’t have to drive in it.

by Anonymousreply 25January 5, 2025 1:49 AM

Ditto

I love the rain

As long as I’m not out in it

by Anonymousreply 26January 5, 2025 1:50 AM

What I really hate is full on glaring sunshine on cold, especially snowy days. It just somehow makes you feel colder.

by Anonymousreply 27January 5, 2025 1:53 AM

I like London in the rain.

Into each life some rain must fall

I didn't know I would catch it all

by Anonymousreply 29January 5, 2025 4:03 AM

I prefer volcanic ash precipitation to meteoric fireballs.

by Anonymousreply 30January 5, 2025 4:11 AM

Does everyone who hates sunny days have blue eyes?

by Anonymousreply 31January 5, 2025 4:15 AM

I always like those days because it makes inside so cozy. Even in grade school.

by Anonymousreply 32January 5, 2025 5:52 AM

Yes! I love gloomy stormy days. I always feel some kind of relief mentally. I have no idea why.

by Anonymousreply 33January 5, 2025 6:07 AM

I love it when it rains in the spring and the summer, and I can tolerate it in the fall. i hate rain in the winter.

by Anonymousreply 34January 5, 2025 6:10 AM

I have blue eyes R31, bright sun gives me headaches.

by Anonymousreply 35January 5, 2025 6:18 AM

I do have blue eyes r31

by Anonymousreply 36January 5, 2025 6:22 AM

R31 mine are hazel

by Anonymousreply 37January 5, 2025 6:31 AM

I got sick of little to no rain in SoCal so I moved to Portland. No regerts.

by Anonymousreply 38January 5, 2025 6:32 AM

Why I live in Seattle!

by Anonymousreply 39January 5, 2025 7:52 AM

Cape Cod weather is perfect for me. I like bright blue skies and sunshine but welcome the fog that rolls in and envelops me like an oversized gray Cuffy’s hoodie

by Anonymousreply 40January 5, 2025 8:02 AM

The Reid brothers agree.

No. I used to enjoy cloudy and rainy days, but since moving to one of the sunniest cities in Europe, I've lost my taste for grey days.

Rain is welcome as rare and necessary - to a point. If it carries on for more than two or three days, I miss the sun. And if it's just grey, the misery of it starts to press down upon me after a day or two.

by Anonymousreply 42January 5, 2025 10:50 AM

I used to draw strength from it, especially if it was colder.

Now the rain and cold just aggravate my arthritis.

by Anonymousreply 43January 5, 2025 11:19 AM

I like the sun more than I used to but it physically hurts me. I am never going to be somebody who sits in it on purpose.

by Anonymousreply 45January 6, 2025 2:37 AM

[quote] I love the rain

[quote] As long as I’m not out in it

I agree with this. I love the rain too.

It's fun to be indoors looking out the window at the rain.

Or under the covers.

But being outdoors and having to run errands in the rain, can be annoying.

All of your groceries get wet.

by Anonymousreply 46January 7, 2025 5:20 PM

R31 blue eyes here, too

I detest the sun. In winter it can be nice. But it can fuck right off the rest of the year.

Rainy summer days are wonderful.

Rain year round, please.
