These seem to fill up more when we discuss all British shows......
This one sounds interesting, and has hottie Matthew Lewis.

New (2024) miniseries on Britbox: "Protection," about a police officer who works in the Witness Protection program. Stars Siobhan Finneran (that bitch O'Brien from "Downton") with a horrendous blonde wig. And the always-cunty Katherine Kelly. Superhot Jonathan Cake shows up as well.

NYT recommended a 4-episode miniseries about a TV host who gets canceled with Hugh Bonneville in the starring role. Has anybody here seen it and, if so, is it worth watching?

I've seen it, r3. I think it's called "Douglas is Cancelled". Great performances and snappy, but it turns very preachy in the last episode or two about men and micro-agressions.

Didn't Hugh get cancelled when some underling of his pegged him in the butt?

New series "Patience" premiered stateside tonight. From what I've seen so far, it appears to be a rehash of the French show "Astrid."
Also beginning tonight is Season 10 of "Grantshire."

^ "Grantchester"
Oy!

Acorn is getting ambitious with their original detective shows. They’ve just debuted anothernew series, “Art Detectives” starring Stephen Moyer of “True Blood” fame, as DI who investigates art-related thefts and murders.
Totally formula and by-the-book but a nice Sunday evening’s entertainment. Each case is solved in an hour, so the mysteries aren’t very complex. The first two episodes have dropped.

I'm eagerly anticipating that show on the Mitford sisters that should be coming to Britbox relatively soon.

Is S10 of "Grantchester" premiering in the UK? Because it ain't on PBS yet.

R11 - Grantchester is starting tonight on PBS.

That episode of Patience whizzed by fast.

Who does the hair and wigs on Grantchester? Because Rishi's poufy hair NEVER moves. It's like Ken doll hair (but not nearly as plastic-looking as Mrs. C's). And I can let his anachronistic beard go, but NOT the neck beard.
The mysteries have become insipid (strippers! Easter fetes!) and the solutions easy to guess, so I just look at the show's production values. I do covet Rishi's little sports car, though.
And now Geordie's son likes dresses, and Leonard's about one sherry away from an AA meeting. Great...

I really, really dislike what they did to the woman character, Geordie’s assistant. (Forget her name). Larry was a dumb nut and neither she nor Geordie had any use for him but now he’s suddenly smarter and fiancé material. Ugh.

[quote]After more than a decade, it's been announced that Grantchester will end with Season 11
Thank goodness they're finally putting us out of our misery.

Nah, that was a celebrity prostitute and he has paid a mint in super injunctions so it is not mentioned in England.

Such a shame James Norton and many other aged out of James Bond.

I would've done it for free and been more discrete.

So Alphy's Big Secret is that he... was left at an orphanage as an infant? Well, thanks for putting Rishi in a tank top for a few minutes (nice guns, padre...). I'm sure that's all we'll get now, when back when the show was good (well, better) James Norton and Robson Green went swimming in the river.

Oh, dear, R19. The word is DISCREET .

Oof, that last episode of Grantchester was BAD. There was no mystery as to whodunit -- it had to be father and son because there was no one else it could have been other than the main cast. So let's fill some time with a lot of blather about fathers never telling their sons they loved them, with a side of matrimonial nonsense for Larry and Miss Scott. If I were Dickens I'd run away.

DEPT. Q
Scottish Police drama set in Edinburgh. Carl is a top rated detective who is traumatized after a violent incident and is also an asshole. It's holding my interest so far.

Two threads for you. One is Dept Q and the other is Alexej Manvelov.
Just search for DEPT Q
