Jeff Baena (Aubrey Plaza's Husband) dead at 47

I did not even know she was married.

by Anonymousreply 270January 8, 2025 2:30 PM

That’s awful. I wonder what happened?

by Anonymousreply 1January 4, 2025 4:05 PM

Am I just becoming more aware, but are suicides becoming more common?

Seems like white men are particularly susceptible to suicide.

RIP Jeff Baena

by Anonymousreply 2January 4, 2025 4:05 PM

In accordance with Millennial standards, cause of death will be sealed.

by Anonymousreply 3January 4, 2025 4:06 PM

She is funny…looking.

by Anonymousreply 4January 4, 2025 4:07 PM

Suicide. He couldn’t stand being married to Aubrey..

He was kinda cute, too.

I've never heard of Aubrey Plaza.

by Anonymousreply 8January 4, 2025 4:14 PM

Just like Joan Rivers. Sometimes the men can’t go on.

by Anonymousreply 9January 4, 2025 4:14 PM

r3 he wasn't a Millennial, he was Gen X.

[quote] I've never heard of Aubrey Plaza

Me neither. Where is it?

by Anonymousreply 11January 4, 2025 4:20 PM

When Aubrey discusses their marriage, she makes it sound like it was a sudden impulse decision that took place in her backyard with a rented official. I wonder how close they actually were.

by Anonymousreply 12January 4, 2025 4:21 PM

Aubrey Plaza has been around for years, has had a fairly sizable media presence and she's done some very well-known tv shows. Weird how anyone with even a passing knowledge of modern entertainment couldn't know who she is.

by Anonymousreply 13January 4, 2025 4:22 PM

Thats really sad. He seemed to have a lot going for him in his film career. R.I.P.🙏

by Anonymousreply 14January 4, 2025 4:22 PM

R12 They were together for 9 years before they got married. So it wasn't a sudden thing

by Anonymousreply 15January 4, 2025 4:23 PM

R12 If you understand Aubrey Plaza's humor, you can probably surmise that her wedding story is somewhat fictionalized and embellished for comedic effect.

by Anonymousreply 16January 4, 2025 4:23 PM

R13 True, I don’t watch television at all and I’ve heard of her.

R21 They win the top spot every year in the US.

Most white men are pushovers.

Italians and Greeks are closer to Latino and Black culturally and I bet the suicide rates for Italian / Greek / Mediterranean American men are lower than their other white ethnicities.

by Anonymousreply 35January 4, 2025 5:10 PM

[quote]Italians and Greeks are closer to Latino and Black culturally

Not really

by Anonymousreply 36January 4, 2025 5:16 PM

In OP's picture, Aubrey's husband kind of looks like a wonky-eyed Paul Rudd.

by Anonymousreply 37January 4, 2025 5:18 PM

I’ve seen a couple of his movies. Definitely quirky, but good. I thought The Little Hours was really funny. This is tragic for her especially because they were both romantic and creative partners who worked together. There is no way to handle a suicide really, but Aubrey especially strikes me as a very sensitive and vulnerable person underneath that deadpan exterior. I cannot imagine what she is going through.

by Anonymousreply 38January 4, 2025 5:20 PM

"Italians and Greeks are closer to Latino and Black culturally"

This is too dumb to even comment

by Anonymousreply 39January 4, 2025 5:24 PM

[quote]White males accounted for 68.46% of suicide deaths in 2022

Wow, that's really something. I had no idea. Not to open a can of worms, but is there some explanation? Are white men that much more susceptible to depression? Are MAGAts right and the success of everyone not white and male (and straight and Christian) so oppressive that they can't cope?

by Anonymousreply 40January 4, 2025 5:28 PM

R36 R39 Yes they are. Italian and Greek Americans still carry traditional old school values and religion and the men are also culturally allowed to be vain.

by Anonymousreply 41January 4, 2025 5:33 PM

by the coroner deferring the 'cause of death' one can assume an accidental drug overdose, or I suppose, perhaps, intentional overdose

by Anonymousreply 42January 4, 2025 5:39 PM

[quote]That’s the narrative you want to hear I’m sure.

I think it is safe to say, r46, that not one single person on Datalounge wants to hear anything from you.

by Anonymousreply 52January 4, 2025 5:53 PM

I can say as a child and teenager, I was very depressed about being gay.

I remember in my early 20s my co-worker bought a car he couldn’t afford and was struggling to pay for it. I remember telling him why not just spend a year saving up for a car like I was and he said “you’re gay it’s different”.

Now that I’m in my mid-30’s and I see my straight male friends dealing with their lives, I am so happy I won the gay lottery when I was born.

by Anonymousreply 53January 4, 2025 5:53 PM

People commit suicide for reasons other than depression. Look at that guy from Glee who killed himself because it came out that he was into kids. Some people do it because they have a physical illness that's going to destroy their quality of life. Until we know anything, and we may never know, it's hard to say what caused this.

by Anonymousreply 54January 4, 2025 5:55 PM

“Aubrey” would have to be one of the ugliest female names ever, along with Brianna and Tegan.

by Anonymousreply 55January 4, 2025 5:56 PM

R55 I know an uglier one.

by Anonymousreply 56January 4, 2025 5:58 PM

I'm Italian AND Greek. And I don't have a big dick.

by Anonymousreply 57January 4, 2025 6:01 PM

[quote] White men are pushovers, emasculated, cash cows, and the most feminized group of men in the US.

If all those things are true, then it's worked out well for them. White men have a better standard of life than any other group in the U.S.

by Anonymousreply 58January 4, 2025 6:02 PM

[quote] Wow, that's really something. I had no idea. Not to open a can of worms, but is there some explanation? Are white men that much more susceptible to depression?

When the world tells you you are suppose to have every advantage because of your sex and race and you don’t - the only thing you have to blame is yourself. That can lead to suicide.

by Anonymousreply 59January 4, 2025 6:03 PM

R58 And you believe they are the sole beneficiaries of it?

by Anonymousreply 60January 4, 2025 6:07 PM

I’ll never forget the story posted here of Warren Buffett’s wife complaining about the price of a hot dog or something while she was out at a carnival. This woman was a cocktail waitress, married rich, and complained about the prices.

But you know only Warren Buffett enjoys the fruits of his labor.

Aubrey will probably remarry in two or three years.

by Anonymousreply 71January 4, 2025 8:03 PM

I've heard the name but haven't seen anything she's been in.

Her name sounds like a destination - keep going until you reach Aubrey Plaza, then take the first left.

No it's not a public square - it's this B actress who just stands there. No there's nothing special about her, so you're going to have to keep your eyes peeled or you'll miss her.

by Anonymousreply 72January 4, 2025 8:07 PM

Aubrey is a lovely name, at least it was to the rock act Bread in the 1970s. Still, I’ve never heard of Aubrey Plaza before, though I love Virginia O’Brien! Why, I was just saying to myself, “Self, the problem with Hollywood is the lack of personalities like Virginia O’Brien these days.”

by Anonymousreply 75January 4, 2025 8:13 PM

He was about 6 ft 2, so he had every reason to live. Sorry for everyone who loved him that he couldn't figure out how to hold on and stay.

by Anonymousreply 76January 4, 2025 8:13 PM

R74 - not that I can recall. She doesn't look very memorable. It's possible that my TV/film interests and her credits never intersected. It happens.

by Anonymousreply 77January 4, 2025 8:15 PM

R74, I am one of the few who didn't know her name but when I looked her up I realized I quite liked her on Parks & Recreation.

by Anonymousreply 78January 4, 2025 8:16 PM

Her most recent role – on "Agatha All Along" – was Death. LITERALLY. 😳

by Anonymousreply 79January 4, 2025 8:24 PM

Poor Aubrey.

I like her a lot.

She's only 40. Way too young to lose a spouse.

by Anonymousreply 80January 4, 2025 8:28 PM

She said she's into women so now she can do that.

by Anonymousreply 81January 4, 2025 8:31 PM

Her next marriage will be to Kate McKinnon.

by Anonymousreply 82January 4, 2025 8:32 PM

Do you bitches remember S2 of "The White Lotus" and Theo James's huge cock? (a prosthetic, sadly, but still) Aubrey played his best friend's wife, and she was the one who gasped – much like everyone on DL did – when his character dropped trou right in front of her.

She's probably still best known for "Parks & Rec," but most recently did the "Agatha" show. Also "Legion" a few years back. She's an indie type & has written and/or directed a few different things; "Ingrid Goes West" was one of the first depictions of the realities of "influencer culture" I can recall seeing (namely that "influencers" and whatever's on their IG profiles isn't at all what their real-life looks like - it's all a sham).

I think her final live-acting role aside from "Agatha" was her husband's last movie, which premiered at SXSW three years ago but wasn't picked up for distribution.

by Anonymousreply 83January 4, 2025 8:33 PM

She was in a really good film with a awful title last year called "My Old Ass" and it dealt with love and loss.

by Anonymousreply 84January 4, 2025 8:35 PM

R72 “ I've heard the name but haven't seen anything she's been in.”

Yet you describe her. Ok.

by Anonymousreply 85January 4, 2025 8:35 PM

[quote] by the coroner deferring the 'cause of death' one can assume an accidental drug overdose, or I suppose, perhaps, intentional overdose

Not necessarily.

Many families will also try to hide the details of a suicide if the suicide is messy (by gunshot, jumping off a high building, etc.).

by Anonymousreply 86January 4, 2025 8:37 PM

Why do people come into threads and whine that they haven't heard of particular celebrities? Do they think we're supposed to care that they don't know who Aubrey Plaza is? Or do they think we're not supposed to discuss anyone unknown to those segments of DataLounge whose pop culture knowledge ended sometime around 1987?

by Anonymousreply 87January 4, 2025 8:44 PM

I loved the tv movie

by Anonymousreply 88January 4, 2025 8:45 PM

Men die by suicide more than women because they use more lethal means (guns and hanging). Women attempt suicide more.

by Anonymousreply 89January 4, 2025 8:47 PM

R87, sometimes we are like the people who start these threads and have nothing better to do. At least I've learned something today.

by Anonymousreply 90January 4, 2025 8:47 PM

R86, it sounds like his assistant discovered his body yesterday morning only after arriving at his house to work. Haven't seen any mention of a Kurt Cobain-style situation – I was guessing maybe carbon monoxide poisoning, but I guess we'll have to see if the family or ME releases any details.

by Anonymousreply 91January 4, 2025 8:49 PM

I know DLers scoff at astrology, but both he and Aubrey's sun signs are Cancer. Their birthdays are three days apart. Cancer is a water sign that is known to be extremely emotional and intuitive. The crab is its symbol, and represents a softness encased in a hard shell--the exterior is tough, but they are very sensitive people at their core. Water signs in general are prone to depression.

by Anonymousreply 92January 4, 2025 8:49 PM

Cancers are a cancer. Toxic. To be avoided. Peevish.

This is Datalounge. A well-known contemporary actress who has a big media presence and is in hit shows/movies will be unknown to our eldergays, but an actress from the 60s or 70s who hasn't worked since then and is either long dead or hasn't been in the public eye in decades will have a huge thread that gets hundreds of posts.

Our eldergays live in a time warp and haven't been connected to the world in many years.

by Anonymousreply 100January 4, 2025 10:19 PM

R99 Are you gay or are you a woman? Probably a woman.

He meant that I didn’t have to have a car because I’m a gay man and men will have sex with me and find me attractive, regardless of my financial or car status.

by Anonymousreply 101January 4, 2025 10:22 PM

R89 Women do it for the attention. Unless you are saying women are too stupid to know how to off themselves.

by Anonymousreply 102January 4, 2025 10:24 PM

Interesting point r102. Never thought of that.

As for r89, I took it as women being more likely to use less violent and immediately effective means, like guns, and more inclined to go for overdoses etc, which can be reversed with timely intervention.

by Anonymousreply 103January 4, 2025 10:35 PM

R69 Yes we know he’s Jewish.

Someone in here is arguing with me because I said Mediterranean Americans are more “ethnic” than white Americans and therefore, are less likely to be apart of the group of white American men who commit suicide.

I will bet that if there are statistics of male suicide, it’s the white male yuppies, rednecks, hipsters, and men of suburban nuclear families who kill themselves the most.

by Anonymousreply 104January 4, 2025 10:39 PM

R101, you must be a complete idiot to have missed his *actual* meaning.

by Anonymousreply 105January 4, 2025 10:46 PM

by Anonymousreply 106January 4, 2025 10:57 PM

R105 No, that was his *actual* meaning.

I was in my early 20s, broke, no car, lived at home and I wasn’t a “loser”. And I never felt like one either.

Without a doubt, gay men save money not having to spend it on women.

by Anonymousreply 114January 4, 2025 11:36 PM

I just turned 60 and was finally accepting my eldergay status. But, goddamn, the eldergays in this thread have me feeling like a young gayling by comparison. I know who Aubrey Plaza is, but I've never heard of Virginia O'Brien or Sian Barbara Allen. Just how old are you ancientgays?

by Anonymousreply 115January 4, 2025 11:53 PM

Photos exclusively obtained by Page Six show the “Parks and Recreation” alum, 40, having fun on New Year’s Day at a Knicks game with comedian Jerrod Carmichael.

The pair laughed while watching the NBA game from celebrity row at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Carmichael, who was dressed casual for the sporting event, was seen with his arm wrapped around Plaza, who wore an orange cap and black jacket.

The pair appear to be longtime friends and Carmichael, 37, is openly gay. Their reps could not immediately be reached for comment.

by Anonymousreply 136January 5, 2025 2:37 AM

I had a friend who once wrote hung instead and hanged and then he died. He hung himself!

by Anonymousreply 137January 5, 2025 2:40 AM

Spelling and grammar queens are so tedious.

by Anonymousreply 138January 5, 2025 2:41 AM

Huh?

by Anonymousreply 139January 5, 2025 2:42 AM

Suicide by hanging is often an aggressive act.

The person committing suicide in this way knows they'll be found; it's a final "fuck you."

by Anonymousreply 140January 5, 2025 2:43 AM

Very true r140.

by Anonymousreply 141January 5, 2025 2:43 AM

Yeah? Fuck youse

by Anonymousreply 142January 5, 2025 2:46 AM

If she was in NY over New Years and he was in CA, not a great sign regardless of who she was with, kwim? To do it in their house also seems hostile towards her, and to do it right before an industry/career event for her.

Suicide is horrid for the survivors but this seemed calculated to hurt her, take her home, block a career opportunity, etc.

by Anonymousreply 143January 5, 2025 2:51 AM

DL favorite Jessica Savitch found her husband hanging in their house, grossly deformed. She then proceeded to truly go off the deep end.

At least one of her biographers hypothesized it was an R140 situation: He knew she'd be the only one who'd find him.

by Anonymousreply 144January 5, 2025 2:57 AM

I’ve known two men who blasted their heads off with a shotgun while their families were home asleep. Finding a loved one dead, in any manner, must be awful.

by Anonymousreply 145January 5, 2025 3:06 AM

Jessica Savitch had a very tragic life.

by Anonymousreply 146January 5, 2025 3:07 AM

If you are hanged in a public execution, once the trapdoor opens and you fall "the force of the noose should break the victim's neck, causing immediate paralysis and unconsciousness." But if you hang yourself, you likely don't fall far and fast enough for that to happen, I wouldn't think, and you're basically being choked to death by the rope for a few minutes. That's a bad way to go

Honestly I think a fentanyl overdose is the best at home option

by Anonymousreply 147January 5, 2025 3:07 AM

[quote]Jessica Savitch had a very tragic life.

So did her car...

by Anonymousreply 148January 5, 2025 3:09 AM

And the wurter…

by Anonymousreply 149January 5, 2025 3:09 AM

Does fentanyl cause a painful death, or do you just pass out and die in your sleep?

by Anonymousreply 150January 5, 2025 3:19 AM

Aubrey Plaza publicly bashed Trump not very long ago. Maybe her husband had similar views and didn't want to live to see him inaugurated for his 2nd term.

by Anonymousreply 151January 5, 2025 3:28 AM

R150

"What happens to someone physically when they overdose on fentanyl?

Fentanyl acts on multiple organ systems in the body. It can act on the brain, so a patient who has overdosed on fentanyl can continue to fall asleep. They may fall unconscious. Most important is the effect that fentanyl can have on breathing. Fentanyl can cause you to slow or even stop your breathing and that is what can cause a patient to actually pass away from lack of oxygen."

"How quickly, from the point of ingesting, can someone begin to show these symptoms of a fentanyl overdose? Depending on the amount of ingestion or the strength of ingestion, and the potency of the amount that was ingested, it can happen in a matter of minutes."

Of all the horrible ways to go this is a not so horrible way I think.

by Anonymousreply 152January 5, 2025 3:33 AM

Maybe Trump hung him and forged the note

by Anonymousreply 153January 5, 2025 3:34 AM

I’ve never been to Abrey Plaza-New York?

by Anonymousreply 154January 5, 2025 3:59 AM

by Anonymousreply 155January 5, 2025 4:15 AM

I haven't heard of Aubrey either.

by Anonymousreply 156January 5, 2025 4:46 AM

This quote is eerie now. Aubrey said "Thanks! This is the best day of my life. I'm killing myself tomorrow." as a joke while guest judging RuPaul's Drag Race, and I see it used as a meme sometimes on Twitter.

When I first looked at the pic, I thought it was Max Emerson, and thought, God, what does he have to kill himself for? Thankfully, it's not Max. Sorry this guy thought he needed to die. I wonder what made him do it.

What I’ve read and personally seen 2 times, is couples who have been together for a long time, just can’t make the relationship work once they get married. You managed to stay together for 10 years but saying “I do” and signing a form makes you split up? I find it bizarre.

I have no idea if that is the case here.

by Anonymousreply 163January 5, 2025 7:37 AM

Well shit. I worked on a project with Jeff years ago. He was a sweet guy. I don't know what happened, but he didn't deserve this.

by Anonymousreply 174January 5, 2025 10:08 AM

Why are you? 80% of DL is great. You're in the 20% that's absolute dreck, and I have no problem telling you. You ruin our worth.

by Anonymousreply 176January 5, 2025 10:43 AM

It seems like he one of those "I can't live without you" types, and they are always the most tragic of human beings. Never ever make your partner your whole world because humans are notoriously flakey no matter how well the relationship starts off. Even in the most loving, stable relationships, it's healthy to have an outlet outside of the relationship. Becoming emeshed with your partner to the point of losing yourself never ends well. This is sad all around. I hope Aubrey and Jeff's family are coping the best they can. Suicide has a ripple effect throughout families. R.I.P.

by Anonymousreply 177January 5, 2025 11:31 AM

Aubrey Plaza will be blamed for this just like Courtney Love and Asia Argento. It's always a woman's fault whenever a man does something. They're never responsible for their own actions.

R183 Jeezus, you fucking prissy queen. I was responding to R181 who posted "hanged" and "hunged." I was pointing out that of the two, "hanged" is correct.

I'm sorry English grammar triggers you so. You must have flunked out.

And I'm not crying over the spelling of "hanged," just bemused at how the spelling and grammar trolls are always such schoolmarms and don't seem to realize how that feeds into such negative stereotypes. One thing about this board I wish would just go away.

by Anonymousreply 193January 5, 2025 4:31 PM

Mediterranean (Euro) Americans are white Americans

by Anonymousreply 199January 5, 2025 6:42 PM

R199 Culturally more ethnic than “white” Americans.

They are people of their ethnic culture.

They are not wonder bread white. They dance, they season their food, they have huge families and all gather under one roof, etc. They have some flavor.

Even in the movie “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”, it was pointed out there was a cultural difference between the Greeks and John Corbett’ character and his family.

by Anonymousreply 207January 5, 2025 8:17 PM

r202 you're completely full of shit. Eldergays and their bizarre "who is white" bullshit is one of the oddest things on DL. Even 50 years ago all of those groups were considered white in the US.

by Anonymousreply 208January 5, 2025 8:46 PM

My father is Filipino/Spanish (from Spain), and on my birth certificate 1965, he's listed as "white". He is not white looking at all.

by Anonymousreply 209January 5, 2025 9:03 PM

Some cryptdwelling DL eldergays will DIE ON THAT HILL about all the miscellaneous white Europeans who were not considered white, apparently into the 1970s. Meanwhile for the vast majority of Americans, this all faded between WWI and WWII and quite disappeared in the 1960s. The idea that an Italian, Jewish, Irish, (or French Canadian - bizarrely mentioned, since they are afterall FRENCH), Portuguese, etc etc, doctor or engineer in the 1960s was not considered fully white is risible. Irish and Catholic Kennedy was elected to the Presidency in the early 1960s.

by Anonymousreply 211January 5, 2025 9:24 PM

Wait, which derailment in this thread is the OFFICIAL derailment? Is it the rating of Mediterranean ethnicity in the US over the decades, or is it the proper spelling/usage of hang/hanged? Is it possible we've gone off the rails in two equally annoying directions?

by Anonymousreply 212January 5, 2025 9:25 PM

[quote] Even 50 years ago all of those groups were considered white in the US.

I didn't say they weren't considered white. I said they 'were considered racially inferior to the almighty WASP American' in a way that is a bit arcane these days, but does show up in certain contexts. Hell, even here I've seen some crazy anti-Irish shit.

by Anonymousreply 222January 5, 2025 10:42 PM

I know multiple people who have worked with Jeff and described him as thoughtful and terrifically snarky while still managing to be warm and kind. They said Aubrey was whip-smart and much nicer than you'd think.

They were together 14 years--basically her entire adult life. Not only were they best friends and lovers but longtime creative collaborators. That's such an enormous hole to be left with at such a young age. I feel deeply for her. I imagine this will be an enormous undoing for her, emotionally.

I don't know if this is a coincidence or not, but Jeff's main financier for The Little Hours (and possibly other films of his) also died by suicide a day or two before he did.

by Anonymousreply 223January 6, 2025 12:46 AM

by Anonymousreply 224January 6, 2025 12:54 AM

R213 White is the race. (If you subscribe to racial categories.) One is white race or one is not. How can they be white but "racially inferior" to other whites (WASPs)? I think you mean lower in social status.

by Anonymousreply 225January 6, 2025 1:00 AM

No, dear. Go learn about Anglo-Irish history and the history of anthropology for starters. The Brits genuinely believed that they were corporally superior to the native Irish (Fenians). Old-style anthropological bullshit. That created beliefs that linger to this day.

by Anonymousreply 226January 6, 2025 1:04 AM

r226 ethnic whites like Irish, Italians etc. were thought of as white 50 years ago and much earlier than that as well. But this is DL so there you go.

by Anonymousreply 227January 6, 2025 1:16 AM

I'm not disagreeing with you, it's just that white anglo-saxon protestants thought they were at the top of the white heap, and these ethnicities were seen as subsets of the white race. It sounds bizarre because it is.

by Anonymousreply 228January 6, 2025 1:19 AM

by Anonymousreply 230January 6, 2025 1:21 AM

It's just sloppy, R228. And just because a few classist WASPs held onto it far too long does not mean a general society did. The WASPs were wrong. So why are you arguing from heir warped perspective to generalities.

by Anonymousreply 231January 6, 2025 1:23 AM

Shall we go read some neighborhood covenant documents before the civil rights act of 1968 to prove that certain white ethnicities were kept out of those neighborhoods, r231? I've had enough of the denialiist nonsense here, and it's derailing the thread anyway. I'm done.

by Anonymousreply 232January 6, 2025 1:25 AM

R230--R233 here. His name was William Santor and his media production company was under investigation for fraud going back to 2016. He was meant to appear in court on Jan 25th. He knew the shit had hit the fan and there was no way out. Apparently he offed himself a week before Baena did, it just didn't hit the press til 2 days before. Here's a comment from a short reddit thread I just found:

"Yes, I have been following the court documents it's ongoing now here in Toronto, Canada. I'm not sure why this story hasnt been picked it up by the local news. It's right out of a Dateline 20/20 type of show, surreal. January 25th is the date in front of the judge for sentencing. Hence, his unaliving himself, there was no way out. The court docs implicate him and his wife, too. Both were enriched. They froze all their assets due to the Mareva order and his wife was forced to sell her vehicle and sell their condo to pay their lawyer according to the court docs. Santor "allegedly" registered domain names of real film companies and altered it slightly along with fraudulent Gmail accounts of the CEOs from those companies. He also drafted fraudulent deal memos and put pressure on a distributor to cosign. If you want to read them, google William Santor court and the kvs docs spell it all out. Pwc did a forensic investigation. Apparently, he has been doing this since 2016 😬"

by Anonymousreply 234January 6, 2025 1:34 AM

Your history SUCKS. Of course there were white ethnicity bans in neighbourhood covenants dating from the late 1800s until the WWII. But the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 1948 that racial covenants were unenforceable. NO need to wait until 1968. You are taking a very very limited vestige of prejudice within the "white race" and saying it was a generally accepted truth in the 1960s and its total hogwash. I suppose a Jew could have been blocked at certain country clubs and select gentlemens clubs in the 60s. And there were probably quotas at the Ivies. For Irish? Doubtful. Show me the intermarriage among white ethnicity data, to prove there were generally accepted "lesser" whites. But, feel free to die on your hill. But your history is selective and quite shit.

[quote] At the time of his death, Santor had been suspended from his role as CEO at Productivity following allegations about "financial mismanagement," first reported by The Hollywood Reporter. According to that report, Productivity Media had placed Santor on a "temporary leave of absence" while an auditor was brought in to check its books and review loans.

[quote] The company was later placed into receivership and auditors stated in legal filings that Santor had misappropriated more than $44M from Productivity through an "elaborate scheme" of "fictitious loans to artificial companies.”

$44 million!

by Anonymousreply 240January 6, 2025 2:36 AM

Deliberate misread. The point is Jews in the USA were white. White white. And yes there was prejudice in the mid-century. Irish were white. Kennedy was WHITE and elected to be president. Some twat R202 tried to say they were not the good white, or some such distinction, but to majority of Americans these distinctions fell away in the 1960s.

r248 Right, no one said otherwise. It is not, however, VPL.

by Anonymousreply 252January 6, 2025 3:04 AM

You're committed to diverting from the fact you're full of shit and I've called you out.

by Anonymousreply 253January 6, 2025 3:05 AM

No, darling, you read something else into what I said and it went down this big fucking spiral of bullshit because you just want to be right right right and I was trying not to derail this thread.

Frankly, there are better things to be called out about. I don't give a fuck about your little snit

by Anonymousreply 254January 6, 2025 3:06 AM

R244, you made me cackle.

by Anonymousreply 255January 6, 2025 3:33 AM

I suspect the director’s offing himself had more to do with marriage issues and mental health struggles, not white collar crime, but time will tell. Coincidental timing for sure.

by Anonymousreply 256January 6, 2025 3:37 AM

Who the f*ck are these two idiots who are fighting over this shit that has NOTHING to do with Jeff Baena's death? Put them on mute and this thread becomes enjoyable once again about thew death of a middliong hot, lopsided smiling guy who HANGED himself.

As Joan Crawford would say, "Let's go!"

I read a post on Crazy Days and Crazy Nights a few days ago. The entertainment lawyer said 50 year old William Santor financed multiple Baena's movie projects recently killed himself. He has been under investigation for $44 million being missing from his finance company. He mentioned in the post that it might or might not be related.

by Anonymousreply 259January 7, 2025 8:18 PM

r259, THAT'S completely NEW information!!!

by Anonymousreply 260January 7, 2025 8:27 PM

Crazy Days and Crazy Nights is a fake web site. It’s the Weekly World News of the web. The owner is a pervert and a MAGAt to boot. Quit bringing that shit here.

by Anonymousreply 261January 7, 2025 8:30 PM

Aubrey murdered him.

by Anonymousreply 262January 7, 2025 8:30 PM

R262 It'd need to be a contract.... she was in NYC when he offed himself.

by Anonymousreply 263January 7, 2025 8:40 PM

R259 I'm surprised CDAN didn't like the suicides to some secret child molesting cult, which is one of Enty's favorite things to do.

by Anonymousreply 264January 7, 2025 9:06 PM

^Link, that is.

by Anonymousreply 265January 7, 2025 9:09 PM

CDAN will probably wait a bit before trying to make it seem like Baena and Santor were involved in human trafficking or sex crimes and knowing CDN he will try to say that Aubrey Plaza is involved in nefarious activities. Wasn't CDAN trying to claim that Chelsea Handler or some other female celeb was involved in trafficking?

by Anonymousreply 266January 7, 2025 9:14 PM

R266 Probably. I remember when Anthony Bourdain died and Enty tried to link his suicide to a child sex ring his fiancée was allegedly a part of.

by Anonymousreply 267January 7, 2025 9:16 PM

I forgot about the Bourdain and Asia Argento crap CDAN spewed back then. I think CDAN is waiting for Plaza to speak out more or maybe other stuff to come out on the white collar crimes of Santor.

by Anonymousreply 268January 7, 2025 9:23 PM

CDAN isn't ALL fake....he does post some dish that is real. And, he (or one of his sources) obviously checks out DL. There's been stuff posted in here that ends up on CDAN.

by Anonymousreply 269January 8, 2025 12:15 AM

R269: My stuff and that of other DLr’s among others. No one @CDAN “checks out” what they see here in terms of fact checking.

He/they see stuff here and they steal it. No verification is attempted let alone done.
