Mug Cradling Frau, 6 Months Pregnant, Plunges to Her Death in Greece

She fell over 150 feet from a treacherous hiking trail in Crete.

Who goes hiking on a dangerous trail when they're six months pregnant?

Just looking at the picture in the article, I get the distinct feeling she was one of those "let me record every moment of my existence" social media junkies.

by Anonymousreply 111January 6, 2025 1:36 AM

OP resolved to be even more misogynistic and grimly humorless in 2025. The outdated zeitgeist reference is la cerise sur le gâteau.

by Anonymousreply 1January 4, 2025 12:28 PM

R1 learned how to use Google Translate today.

by Anonymousreply 2January 4, 2025 12:31 PM

[quote]she was one of those "let me record every moment of my existence" social media junkies

Well, she got her wish.

by Anonymousreply 3January 4, 2025 12:31 PM

I'm sorry your Mommy didn't give you enough hugs, OP.

by Anonymousreply 4January 4, 2025 12:34 PM

Doubt her pregnancy had anything to do with her death

by Anonymousreply 5January 4, 2025 12:48 PM

R5 I don't think anyone's implying that.

But why take chances going on a dangerous hike when you're just three months away from giving birth?

Seems kind of careless.

by Anonymousreply 6January 4, 2025 12:50 PM

[quote]“Despite the best efforts of everyone involved, the injured American was pronounced brain dead on Sunday,” the Greek Reporter said.

Possibly the affliction took hold earlier in life.

by Anonymousreply 7January 4, 2025 12:53 PM

R6 is OP. And OP did imply the worst, for everything.

by Anonymousreply 8January 4, 2025 12:54 PM

Very sad. I guess God needed another fetus.

by Anonymousreply 9January 4, 2025 12:55 PM

Not saying she should have died but that belly photo. Ugh!

by Anonymousreply 10January 4, 2025 12:58 PM

R8 Yes, R6 is OP. Was that a mystery to you?

Probably, since your reading comprehension and critical thinking skills appear to be lacking.

by Anonymousreply 11January 4, 2025 1:04 PM

R10 Why do women always want to show off their bloated pregnancy bellies?

Yes, you've got an organism growing inside of you.

Congratulations.

by Anonymousreply 12January 4, 2025 1:05 PM

Very sad, but terrible things happen to people who do stupid things.

by Anonymousreply 13January 4, 2025 1:09 PM

R1 / R8 It was fun to watch you embarrass yourself.

by Anonymousreply 14January 4, 2025 1:11 PM

It’s not even a good idea to fly long distances, like from California to Greece, during the third trimester. The risks of dehydration, blood clots, lack of access to medical care. Let alone doing stupid activities like dangerous hikes. Oh well, FAFO.

by Anonymousreply 15January 4, 2025 1:31 PM

Yeah, this seemed like a cool chick. To be intelligent enough to TEACH PHYSICS-- and she chose to be a teacher.

A mug cradling Frau?

I have seen how fucking nasty this place has gotten, and I cannot see any humor in this woman's death. And I can be as twisted as the rest of you (and life is comedy)

She sounded like a great person.

by Anonymousreply 16January 4, 2025 1:51 PM

Exercise kills, people!

by Anonymousreply 17January 4, 2025 1:55 PM

Hiking is an obsession for some

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 18January 4, 2025 1:55 PM

She’s a high school physics teacher, not some bimbo influencer. The kind of hetero who this world could use more of and who actually SHOULd be reproducing. Nothing in the story indicates that the hike itself was challenging. She slipped and fell off an embankment. There’s countless opportunities to slip in fall no matter where you are in life. So far I don’t really find the cuntiness justified

by Anonymousreply 19January 4, 2025 2:03 PM

Only one miscalculation is needed to finish you off. Julian Sands hiked Mt Baldy many times before. Sands, who was elderly when he disappeared, went hiking during a snowstorm. The snowstorm was severe enough searches to recover him were postponed.

This couple took their dog and infant for a hike during three digit temperatures.

Their Instagram account features dozens of hiking pics.

They did not have a death wish, nor stupid.

They were obsessed with hiking and made a grave miscalculation that killed their family.

[quote] Sands, who was elderly when he disappeared, went hiking during a snowstorm. The snowstorm was severe enough searches to recover him were postponed.

Something like this happened to a girl I know. Her pony busted down his stall and went missing during a big snowstorm and she went looking for him, calling WILDFIRE.

by Anonymousreply 21January 4, 2025 2:19 PM

I have not seen the film, nor heard that song you referenced in your troll post

by Anonymousreply 22January 4, 2025 2:22 PM

r22 and?

by Anonymousreply 23January 4, 2025 2:27 PM

And the baby?

by Anonymousreply 24January 4, 2025 2:32 PM

[quote]I don’t really find the cuntiness justified

What part of pointless bitchery confuses you?

by Anonymousreply 25January 4, 2025 2:34 PM

[quote]She slipped and fell off an embankment. There’s countless opportunities to slip in fall no matter where you are in life.

It’s more likely you’ll slip and fall when your center of gravity is skewed because you’re now carrying a bowling ball in your abdomen while walking near an embankment on unfamiliar territory. Bad decision-making all around.

Take a vacation to the beach when you’re six months pregnant, or walk around your neighborhood if you want to exercise.

by Anonymousreply 26January 4, 2025 2:45 PM

Pointless means you have no clear goal in your complaints, not that they are unjustifiable.

by Anonymousreply 27January 4, 2025 2:48 PM

I don't understand the choice of activity given her condition, as well as flying such a long distance as a poster up thread states, given the risks associated with that. A physics teacher should have known that this was not a good idea. Even the chance of miscarriage etc given the fact that she was engaged in strenuous activity while in her 3rd trimester doesn't seem smart. I know women who are pregnant can do light exercise; but hiking on a mountainside isn't light exercise by anyone's definition. May she RIP, such a waste of life.

by Anonymousreply 28January 4, 2025 3:07 PM

^ End of second trimester, but my point still stands.

by Anonymousreply 29January 4, 2025 3:08 PM

Because they're happy, R12.

I can't explain happiness to you.

by Anonymousreply 30January 4, 2025 3:11 PM

She hated kids.

by Anonymousreply 31January 4, 2025 3:12 PM

My niece is still jogging in 3rd trimester (and fell once in the 2nd trimester while running). I think some women are super afraid of losing their figures/their coolness, or are intent on proving that "being pregnant isn't an illness."

According to the obit, the family is using the deaths as an excuse to gather and celebrate. They sound like cult members.

by Anonymousreply 32January 4, 2025 3:56 PM

R30 I'm happy about nice butt, but I don't have this insatiable need to display it on social media as if I deserve some kind of award for it.

by Anonymousreply 33January 4, 2025 4:00 PM

Should not an expectant mother six months along be in home confinement? Think of the children!

by Anonymousreply 34January 4, 2025 4:03 PM

I wonder if she consulted with her obstetrician before she decided to fly 6,000 miles and walk rocky paths with steep ledges in her second trimester.

I'm thinking "no."

by Anonymousreply 35January 4, 2025 4:06 PM

Hiking in Greece is a once in a lifetime experience for most. The victim's reflexes may have been impaired by her pregnancy, the hiking trail is a common trail, nothing outrageous, just far up and dangerous for anyone who has impaired reflexes.

Julian Sands hiked Mt Baldy often, I am guessing he hiked during inclement weather before without an issue.

by Anonymousreply 36January 4, 2025 4:09 PM

Congratulations OP, this one was like ringing the dinner bell for the frau invaders! The blips on the radar screen are quite clear.

Sorry girls, this was stupid, selfish behavior. It was irresponsible. In our digital age, people seem detached from reality, unwilling to see that certain activities have an enhanced risk of death or severe harm. Look at all the people dying while taking selfies.

by Anonymousreply 37January 4, 2025 4:12 PM

There's a very pregnant woman who uses the elliptical machine to exercise in the gym I am going to.

I noticed her bump impedes her leg movements on the machine.

by Anonymousreply 38January 4, 2025 4:17 PM

R1 C'est mignon qu'elle pense qu'elle est instruite et surtout parce qu'elle sait utiliser Google Translate.

La vérité est qu'elle est juste une triste mangeuse de fond.

by Anonymousreply 39January 4, 2025 4:19 PM

People travel way too much.

by Anonymousreply 40January 4, 2025 4:20 PM

R38 So many of these idiots think that if they continue to exercise as if they're not pregnant, they'll give birth to some kind of uber-fit infant, complete with a 6-pack.

by Anonymousreply 41January 4, 2025 4:22 PM

Geez she really needed to get it together. Her family sounds tiresome. “Yay celebrate!”

by Anonymousreply 42January 4, 2025 4:26 PM

The victim did not go to Greece to fall off a hiking trail! She was experiencing a once in a lifetime experience and had an accident!

Wtf. Is this so hard to understand.

by Anonymousreply 43January 4, 2025 4:28 PM

R43 Like she couldn't wait until after she had expelled her organism?

by Anonymousreply 44January 4, 2025 4:30 PM

She's living her best death.

by Anonymousreply 45January 4, 2025 4:32 PM

[quote] She slipped and fell off an embankment.

Hmm...did she? Or was someone just no longer excited about being a husband and father?

by Anonymousreply 46January 4, 2025 4:34 PM

R28 it’s not like she’s a physicist or someone with special knowledge…oh, wait?!

by Anonymousreply 47January 4, 2025 4:35 PM

Meant for R26^

by Anonymousreply 48January 4, 2025 4:35 PM

Hiking is not a pastime for some it's a single minded obsession.

Julian Sands could have waited for the snowstorm to pass but I am guessing he'd hiked so often in similar conditions he did not consider the risks unusual. The same with family who died of exposure. They'd hiked so often and may have had many close calls before.

Just one miscalculation is enough to finish you.

by Anonymousreply 49January 4, 2025 4:35 PM

She must have had family money to live in Santa Barbara on a teacher’s salary.

by Anonymousreply 50January 4, 2025 4:37 PM

r43 No shit, dumbass. Not a single person said she purposesly went there to go "fall off a hiking trail."

Wtf Is it so hard for you to read?

by Anonymousreply 51January 4, 2025 4:39 PM

Why do I have get the impression this woman has a picture on her Instagram feed of her with her husband, both of them in profile, standing against an orange Crete sunset, foreheads pressed together, eyes closed, facing downward, smiles on their faces, his hand on her protruding stomach, with the caption, "Feeling blessed?"

by Anonymousreply 52January 4, 2025 4:40 PM

[Quote] The victim did not go to Greece to fall off a hiking trail! She was experiencing a once in a lifetime experience and had an accident!

[Quote] Wtf. Is this so hard to understand.

I’m wondering the same thing myself, girl! Why is it so hard to understand that, when you’re pregnant, you don’t put yourself in situations where one false move could lead to instant death? It’s not exactly rocket science.

by Anonymousreply 53January 4, 2025 4:50 PM

You're stupid. And I'm out.

by Anonymousreply 54January 4, 2025 4:52 PM

What did she die of?

by Anonymousreply 55January 4, 2025 4:58 PM

R55 A broken heart, Rose.

by Anonymousreply 56January 4, 2025 4:58 PM

I am a coward, so I wouldn't have taken that hike in the bloom of my non-pregnant youth.

Sometimes, besides eating, a woman needs to think for two.

by Anonymousreply 57January 4, 2025 5:00 PM

There's so much of nature to enjoy without worrying about it trying to kill you.

by Anonymousreply 58January 4, 2025 5:01 PM

Why didn't I think of that?..

by Anonymousreply 59January 4, 2025 5:06 PM

R33 or was it 35 nailed it. You don’t have to be mentally ill or stupid to have extremely poor judgment . I’m not “ blaming her.”

This was such a fuvking risky move on her part. Yeah, pregnant women can die in plane and car crashes — we all have to take risks

BUT …. There was no compelling reason she had to hike on a rough trail at this point in time. Pregnancy changes your sense of balance — etc … my sisters have told me

by Anonymousreply 60January 4, 2025 5:13 PM

Who is caring for the baby now?

by Anonymousreply 61January 4, 2025 5:13 PM

r50. I'm working with an actress from Santa Barbara, and she mentioned that there was an area that was the "ghetto" of SB, and that they weren't well off by any means.

by Anonymousreply 62January 4, 2025 5:16 PM

Linda Lavin, r61

by Anonymousreply 63January 4, 2025 5:17 PM

¿“Una excusa para juntar y celebrar”?

I don’t think so.

by Anonymousreply 64January 4, 2025 5:18 PM

She may have wanted to get one last trip in before being saddled down with a baby for the next few years, but c'mon, this was pretty stupid behavior.

BUUUUTTTT - there have been plenty of cases where the partner/husband pushed the woman. You can't rule that out. He may have been feeling stressed about the upcoming baby and he's still working on his PhD, etc.

Why would you hike along a trail with a 50 meter drop off?

I hope they investigate the husband - there is a chance he was involved in it.

by Anonymousreply 65January 4, 2025 5:19 PM

^^Nancy Drew is on the case!

by Anonymousreply 66January 4, 2025 5:21 PM

[quote] I hope they investigate the husband - there is a chance he was involved in it.

Only if he had life insurance on her I think. The article says he was a grad student, so she was the breadwinner.

by Anonymousreply 67January 4, 2025 5:22 PM

This calls for the investigative skills of Mrs. Columbo, who's currently busy on the Linda Lavin thread, convinced her husband offed her on the way to the hospital.

by Anonymousreply 68January 4, 2025 5:24 PM

Is she going to be pregnant for eternity? That would make heaven suck for her.

by Anonymousreply 69January 4, 2025 5:29 PM

R12, because it’s such a “miraculous” event.

Imagine growing a life inside of you for the first time. I’d wager there’s nothing quite like it as far as the human experience goes. Couple that with social media? It’s a given to show the world that you’re sustaining & creating a life.

I’m pro-choice. Just wanted to make that clear.

by Anonymousreply 70January 4, 2025 5:30 PM

R70 Actually, it's only a "given" for malignant narcissists.

by Anonymousreply 71January 4, 2025 5:31 PM

R70 Look at me! I'm capable of reproducing, just like millions of other women on this planet! But I'm extra special!

by Anonymousreply 72January 4, 2025 5:40 PM

I looked up the hubby - he's a PhD candidate at the UCSB School of Environment - looks to be a hiking, new-agey kind of guy. So does she.

So I'm going to scratch this up to youngish trustafarian kids brought up with not enough boundaries or common sense.

Look up Preveli monastery - the landscape around there is beautiful but looks like it's dangerous.

Yeah - I'm thinking she's one of those 'pregancy is life - it shouldn't stop women from doing ANYTHING they want' types.

by Anonymousreply 73January 4, 2025 5:53 PM

Don't look at me! I was gone fishin'!

by Anonymousreply 74January 4, 2025 6:12 PM

It was a once in a lifetime experience, and she wanted to make sure of it!

by Anonymousreply 75January 4, 2025 6:35 PM

[quote][R12], because it’s such a “miraculous” event.

It’s not miraculous. Feral cats do it every day.

by Anonymousreply 76January 4, 2025 6:44 PM

[quote]BUUUUTTTT - there have been plenty of cases where the partner/husband pushed the woman. You can't rule that out.

Homicide is the leading cause of death for pregnant women, so it’s worth looking into.

by Anonymousreply 77January 4, 2025 6:47 PM

[quote][R38] So many of these idiots think that if they continue to exercise as if they're not pregnant, they'll give birth to some kind of uber-fit infant, complete with a 6-pack.

It’s good for women to stay physically active during pregnancy. It lessens some of the side effects of pregnancy, reduces blood pressure, and can make delivery easier.

That being said, low impact activities like walking, yoga/stretching, and swimming are the best. Running is probably okay for women who were used to it pre-pregnancy, but most women don’t have the energy or desire to do strenuous shit when they get into the third trimester.

by Anonymousreply 78January 4, 2025 6:54 PM

R78 - or to fly from California to Crete. That's easily 3 flights.

But "Pregnant Woman Dies from 150ft fall while hiking with avid hiking partner" - that should raise some questions.

Would a 6 month pregnant woman get so close to the edge of a cliff where one small trip could send her cascading over the side of a mountain? Maybe. But I don't think many pregnant women would risk this.

I'm not good with heights - so being close to a drop-off like that always makes my stomach turn. I hate driving up mountains with no guard rails. I get sick just thinking about it.

by Anonymousreply 79January 4, 2025 7:13 PM

It was me. I kicked her so hard, we went toppling over the edge together. I didn't sign up for a lifetime of making excuses to gather and celebrate with her whackadoo family.

by Anonymousreply 80January 4, 2025 7:18 PM

[quote]Is she going to be pregnant for eternity? That would make heaven suck for her.

That sounds amazing.

by Anonymousreply 81January 4, 2025 7:21 PM

[quote]Who is caring for the baby now?

Mrs. Patsy Ramsey, formerly of Boulder, CO.

by Anonymousreply 82January 4, 2025 7:23 PM

"This is gonna look so awesome on Insta - just back up a bit more....a little bit more....now turn to the side and stick out your belly...wait,... can you step back just one more step?"

by Anonymousreply 83January 4, 2025 7:28 PM

r83 No doubt that's exactly what that husband said!

by Anonymousreply 84January 4, 2025 7:40 PM

Here's a video of a hiking trail around there - go to around 10 minute mark. Looks precarious.

It could go either way - I think she did lose her footing and was off balance with her weight shift during pregnancy.

by Anonymousreply 85January 4, 2025 7:53 PM

The accident was reported to be inland, hun. At the gorge. Which is really treacherous.

Why go hiking in January, so far away?

I see pregnant women skiing. Why not some gentle skiing on groomed slopes, for January?

by Anonymousreply 86January 4, 2025 8:12 PM

[quote] So I'm going to scratch this up to youngish trustafarian kids brought up with not enough boundaries or common sense.

???

How do you know they're trustafarians? I have a Ph.D and I was not one.

Why do they necessarily have to have been brought up with not enough boundaries or common sense? Why can't this just be a horrible accident?

What does it say about you that you need to be so judgemental and condemnatory when you know so few facts about this case?

by Anonymousreply 87January 4, 2025 9:35 PM

Crete is over. O-V-E-R. Over!

by Anonymousreply 88January 4, 2025 10:38 PM

R87 - because I know the type. We speculate about everyone on here.

Clearly there are questions why a 6 month pregnant woman would fly internationally and then hike in a dangerous area.

What is it about YOU that is so judgmental and condemnatory for people to speculate about this - read the title of this website again and shut your trap, you finger-wagging hall monitor.

by Anonymousreply 89January 4, 2025 11:42 PM

You fuckers are truly a bunch of bitter cunts. The next 4 years will be the end of this place.

Pick someone else to fuck with than a dead physics teacher, pussies.

Fucking pathetic.

by Anonymousreply 90January 5, 2025 12:19 AM

It was an accident.

by Anonymousreply 91January 5, 2025 12:24 AM

It might have been OK if OP started with something amusingly snarky and well-landed. "Mug cradling frau" is zero effort, and dated. Why such a nasty gambit? Reveals something about OP, yet nothing about the perhaps reckless teacher who landed at the bottom of the gorge with a dead baby in her womb.

by Anonymousreply 92January 5, 2025 12:30 AM

R92. Thank you.

OP is a fucking loser cunt of the lowest order.

Human garbage. May he roll down a fucking hill to oblivion.

I am done with this place.

by Anonymousreply 93January 5, 2025 12:40 AM

why not just go for a fucking walk. Or find appropriate trails. I'm hiking addict but use alltrails ap to find trails near me and learn all about them before I go on them. Plenty of easy to moderate trails .

by Anonymousreply 96January 5, 2025 3:13 AM

R90 is not I. I am r74.

by Anonymousreply 97January 5, 2025 3:56 AM

I see no mug.

Otherwise I would be a little more tolerant of the dim, lazy OP.

by Anonymousreply 98January 5, 2025 3:58 AM

My bosses wife just gave birth to a boy. Surely he didn’t marry a malignant narcissist just because she very likely posted photos of her belly while pregnant, as MANY women do.

A lot of you here do not have children, and neither do I. That said, I’m always thrilled when I I hear of a family lovingly bringing in a child who is planned, wanted, and loved.

I sometimes think about how my boss, his wife and their family are really into this experience. Falling in love with their newborn, more and more as each day passes. I’m really happy for them both, and surely it’s an experience that most of us who haven’t had children, can even imagine.

I DO imagine it for others, however, and I’d like to remind you all that regardless of what type of childhood we had, not one of us would be here today, had some mug cradling frau not given birth to us.

Life is truly a beautiful miracle, and all of us, including myself, should take a moment to consider this, every now and again.

For those on DL suffering from misogyny, remember that fear, anger & hatred depletes YOU of appreciating how randomly special you are as well. It deprives you of experiencing self love, and NO, no one is a narcissist just because they love themselves. There’s a huge lie out there telling us we shouldn’t love ourselves, when indeed, we should. I’m older, & I’m just finally starting to appreciate myself in a way I’ve never truly understood before, as I should have all along.

RIP to someone who was special, & her unborn child, too.

Bash me all you want, DL. I’ve been here long enough to not give a shit.

by Anonymousreply 99January 5, 2025 5:52 PM

Did the baby die too?

by Anonymousreply 100January 5, 2025 6:04 PM

by Anonymousreply 101January 5, 2025 6:05 PM

I give a shit about my thoughts, your thoughts, but not aimless criticism that only serves to undercut me, us or hurt me, us, R101.

And no, I did not write a novel.

by Anonymousreply 102January 5, 2025 6:13 PM

R102 You definitely posted a novel.

Following a dayslong investigation, Inyo County Search & Rescue found Taylor Rodriguez dead approximately half a mile northwest from Upper Boy Scout Lake on Mount Whitney, which he attempted to summit before going missing last week.

The search and rescue team discovered Rodriguez's body near the north fork of Lone Pine Creek Trail — about 12,000 feet high on the mountain with an elevation of 14,505 feet — at approximately 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, an updated social media post read. No further details, including Rodriguez's cause of death, are available at this time, Inyo County Search & Rescue said.
