Meta is testing, or has started to ship, its AI generated profiles, on Instagram

There are already hundreds, if not thousands, of AI profiles on Instagram. So much of the platform has turned into bot-generated slop, it's almost not worth looking at anymore.

Why on earth would you follow a profile like this? Even if you can't tell it's fake, it's so completely boring that what would you get from it?

The reason for this apparently has something to do with generating ad revenue.

This is what they're trying after the celeb-lookalike AI chat characters didn't work.
