So this little girl was having her first sleepover at her dad’s house, and he wakes up and finds her killed by his dogs in the living room.
Christmas in Ohio: 3-year-old found mauled by ‘pit bull variants’: “My baby is dead”
by Anonymous | reply 67 | January 6, 2025 4:21 AM |
If one of them is a Como corso that’s a mastiff, but that’s no fucking better.
Methink dad was tied of paying child support. Because why was she sleeping in the living room with uncaged dogs? Why didn’t he make up a cot for her in his room?
by Anonymous | reply 1 | January 3, 2025 8:42 AM |
God, how truly horrible for that little girl. For her family, too. I do love animals, but I'd never have 3 dogs of 80- 100 lbs especially of some questionable breed around my grandkids. Especially unsupervised. Horrible.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | January 3, 2025 8:54 AM |
Once again, there is a humane solution to this problem that makes headlines like these entirely a thing of the past in 10 or so years, but we can't do that because children being mauled by pits is MAH FREEDOM!
by Anonymous | reply 3 | January 3, 2025 8:57 AM |
God, I hope not R1. But, why wasn't she in bed with dad? Whyd he leave her alone with those dogs and how didn't he hear anything?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | January 3, 2025 8:58 AM |
A Cane Corso has the bite force of a lion — much higher than a pit bull. That the father left his kid on the couch at night with three XL dogs while he slept safely in his own bed says a lot about him as a “parent.”
by Anonymous | reply 5 | January 3, 2025 9:15 AM |
" the bite force of a lion." Good grief, wtf was that father thinking. Are these dogs a status symbol and these owners just think it's cool to have one? Really regrettable that anybody would have kids around these animals or walk them somewhere without one.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | January 3, 2025 9:38 AM |
She must have provoked those darling pitties. Normally, they wouldn’t even hurt a flea.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | January 3, 2025 10:06 AM |
R1 I don't think so. Stupidity is far more likely. The poor girl. And to all the people who said she should sleep in her dad's bed - Ew. There has to be a possibility that is separate from dogs that no one should have.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | January 3, 2025 10:09 AM |
Well sure, r8. Given the optics considering he is a part-time father, he could have given the kid his bed and slept on the floor some place or out on the sofa, or made up an airbed/campbed/pile of cushions for her in his room. It’s quick and easy and kind of fun for a 3 year old. We did that heaps of time when travelling with our parents.
And it’s all too simple to do - as caging the dogs overnight - which makes him suspicious.

[quote]Methink dad was tied of paying child support.
Apparently he had just learned she was his daughter.
And he must be on drugs if the noise of three dogs mauling a toddler didn't wake him up.

[quote]Smith told WLWT television that Kingsley was spending time with the family for the holidays, but she had no idea that the dogs in the home were dangerous. She noted Kingsley was staying at the home 'for the first time ever.'
[quote]'This is a nightmare, as he just learned that Kingsley was his daughter.
[quote]"I told her I loved her, and I would see her in a few days", she added.
[quote]"If I'd have known he had dogs like that, I wouldn't have sent her to somebody's house who has dogs like that because she's not used to dogs like that." (From an interview)
So the little girl just found out this guy was her father and the mom drops her off at his apartment for a few days over Christmas? And didn't know that he has large dogs? The daughter should have had time to meet the guy slowly over time, and definitely not be made to stay with him for a few days all at once, and over Christmas, since he's a stranger to her. And how did the mom just drop her off without checking out "Dad's" living environment first? Seems very negligent and un-protective of a 3-year-old. That poor, poor kid. Just horrific.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | January 3, 2025 11:29 AM |
I should add...of course the dad is responsible for the dog attack. I was questioning the judgement of the victim's mother who allowed her to stay with a man the little girl just found out was her father and who had dogs the mother didn't know about.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | January 3, 2025 11:33 AM |
R9 You're right on that too. I also now read he only recently learnt he was a father so ... Anyway. I still think it's far more likely that he had typical "My dogs wouldn't harm a fly!" delusion.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | January 3, 2025 11:56 AM |
Oh bullshit R8 there isn't anything wrong with her being in the bed with dad. She didn't DO anything to provoke those animals she was just simply a little girl. The fault lies with her clueless dad. He'll have to live with it always.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | January 3, 2025 12:08 PM |

I was asked two weeks ago by family to adopt another cat so an older pit bull dog could come home. My niece had a baby and rehomed the dog to the dog trainer. I'm sure this has been costing her plenty in the meantime for boarding etc. So the thinking went, Grandma who lives downstairs would have the dog live with her (her cat would move to me) and baby would see dog when grandma babysat which she often does. Well, I don't want another cat since it would put me at five (too many) and frankly. I don't want to help place a pit bull near a baby who's starting to walk. The pit is nearly ten, has been through several weeks long live-in training with a trainer and is deemed safe. Years ago this dog killed his own pup out of jealousy (?). He's been retrained but I still don't like him living in close proximity to the baby. I hope that they don't make this happen.

The injuries were so gruesome that officers were advised to turn off their body cams before visiting the scene, and the coroner refused to let the mother view her daughter’s remains. Mastiff breeds are not for the average person, and only should be handled by dog experts with enough sense to keep them supervised at all times, and who have the physical strength to control them.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | January 4, 2025 2:23 AM |
Putting some much needed perspective to the anti-pit fanatics on here. Best estimates are that over the past ten years, an average of 26 children under age 18 were killed by all dogs each year, meaning even fewer are killed by 'pit bull variants.' Certainly many more children are maimed. However, these numbers pale in comparison to other causes of child death, including:
Motor vehicle crashes, 4074; Firearm related injuries, 3143; Drowning, 995; Unintentional drug overdoses and poisonings, 761.
You scolds should be wagging your fingers elsewhere.

by Anonymous | reply 42 | January 4, 2025 3:05 AM |
R39 so based on your statistics you are basically implying that you should leave a small child unsupervised with pit bulls? Nope, won’t be doing that. Nor will I be leaving guns or drugs or poisons lying out while toddlers are around.

Dad is obviously lying or lieing. Impossible that he wasn’t awakened … unless he wasn’t home. He said the dogs were terriers ??? Maybe I’m dog stupid but I thot those were little dogs .
And he kept them in cages ??? Three gigantic cages . The poor girl might still be alive if he had locked her in a cage
by Anonymous | reply 45 | January 4, 2025 6:50 AM |
Toll paid, I guess. Mom should spay herself and not breed with gross people she doesn't know who keep fucking pitbulls. And whether their bite has the strength of a lion or not doesn't matter when it's three of them vs a 3 year old.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | January 4, 2025 2:00 PM |
R46 Pit bulls don’t have the bite force of a lion, but some “variants” are actually cross-bred with mastiffs such as the Cane Corso that DO have a high level of bite force. The mother was quoted as saying the dogs were over 100 pounds, which has led to speculation they are mixed with mastiffs (unless the idiot mom is adding up the weight of all three dogs together). Regardless, the size and bite force of a mastiff combined with the tenacity of a pit bull is the canine equivalent of a military assault rifle.

Poor baby looks like she has a gun to her head in every picture with her 'smiling' and there's photos of her crawling on top of dogs. I hate parents who think it's cute to let their kids lay on top of, crawl on,stand on dogs.
She probably woke up in a strange place with dogs who weren't used to children and looked for comfort. that poor poor little girl was failed by everyone involved.
Who lets their baby spend the night with someone they don't know at a place they've never been? Both her parents should be shot.

[quote]After giving his daughter's description to the dispatcher, she told him to put away any pets in the home before officers arrived. Kingsley's father said they had terriers, and the dogs were already in their cage. "That's why I'm like, did any of my pets attack her or something? I would have heard this," the man said.
[quote]There was one other person in the apartment and they both woke up at the same time, he told the dispatcher. It did not appear there was a break-in because the front door to the apartment was locked, the man said.
Wait - there was another person in the apartment with the father and daughter? Neither of them heard the dogs attack? This story keeps getting weirder and weirder.

The mother probably had no choice than to let her spend the holiday with him, probably court ordered visitation.
If he just met her, I bet he only recently had to start paying child support.
Release the guy's name. Asshole should have put the dogs in their cages if he was too uncaring to let the kid sleep on a cot or something in his room for her comfort and safety.
That asshole in New Jersey who exercised his kid to death on a treadmill had only just met his son too. Child support and alimony does seem to make killers out of some people.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | January 5, 2025 10:03 PM |
The dogs also probably weren't neutered which greatly increases the likelihood of an attack regardless of breed. Guardian breeds (of animals, no children jokes intended) are absolutely brutally protective and even I would never have an unaltered one.
