Are you ready for this, Meghan has a new show.

Her beagle is cute. I hope he gets a spin-off series, "With Love, Guy."

I'm a big supporter. Her arrogance and lack of self awareness inspires me. I'm launching my own home lifestyle brand, 'American Trailer Park Cockroach' at Target this fall!
by Anonymous | reply 3 | January 2, 2025 6:24 PM |
She's terrible at everything.
Even terrible at acting and terrible at being a narcissist.
Even a mediocre actress and low level narcissist would have known to put on a convincing act and ingratiate herself to the RF not trash them thereby guaranteeing herself a luxurious KP apartment, lovely home in the country and a lifetime of financial security and perks. No hustling for a paycheck as a dime a dozen Hollyweird influencer. She dumb.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | January 2, 2025 6:37 PM |
Halfwit Harry was never attractive but he is a Prince. The fact this malicious woman who publicly stomped on his grandparents as they were dying is the best a Prince could do tells me what a piece of shit Harry is and why no one else wanted him.

Since when does she cook food?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | January 2, 2025 6:43 PM |
I bet she’s going to do something while cooking that will appall 1/2 the people here and set off a furious debate.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | January 2, 2025 6:55 PM |
Every moment seems so genuine and original! Where has the Duchess been hiding her amazing talent for baking a cake? And watching her laugh with her friends, walk picturesquely through the shrubbery, her perpetual smile , is there anything she can't do? You barely notice the vocal fry, the banal utterances, the artificial joy, the planned spontaneity, the total lack of a point, the fact that she's so boring even her dog couldn't stay awake. Just kidding! There will be bees!

Here is a know-nothing egomaniac cunt acting as if she's sharing everything she knows from her deep research and precocious lifestyle skills, when she doesn't know shit about anything but manipulation and how not to market herself.
She couldn't even keep her fake baby bumps from slipping below her well-used yacht-twat.

Its like she thinks that the television viewing audience is stuck in the 50's when being on TV was new and 'magical', that TV actors and personalities were revered to the highest order, that they were unquestionably beyond reproach since they were 'stars' on the TV. She must believe that no one can see right through her performative nonsense.

Doesn’t Mindy know that Meghan = the kiss of death? Also, the series was not filmed in Meghan’s home but in a place rented specifically for the show. Nothing about this woman is authentic.

Oh please, you are looking at it right now on this thread. Americans don't care about Meghan. Or the Royal Family for that matter. Who uses the word "dreadful" in the US? It's about as common as petrol.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | January 2, 2025 8:58 PM |
This should be good. She's not able to drop her pretentiousness for a minute.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | January 2, 2025 8:59 PM |
Netflix is staring to realize that she isn’t that talented. She is going to be dropped soon. The only thing that will get them ratings is if she trashes the Royal Family. She would do well doing a “Royal Secrets Expose” after things end with Harry.

R34 You've got it the wrong way round. I'm a Brit and honestly have never heard anyone mention her 'in real life'. We don't care about her the way you do. These threads are full of Americans. There might be the odd Brit in to correct some mental American who says ridiculous things like "When Meghan is Queen..." but these are American threads. Linking to the Daily Mail doesn't make them British.

God. She could be mingling with world leaders and prominent cultural figures. Instead she’s reduced to making this sad crap for a season. And, after that, what?
by Anonymous | reply 39 | January 2, 2025 9:05 PM |
Nobody is going to watch this. Martha Stewart was twenty years ahead of this curve in the Riviera, and already covered very nearly every domestic how-to topic. Netflix must be the quietest kept payday lender!

by Anonymous | reply 46 | January 2, 2025 9:23 PM |
"I've always loved taking something pretty ordinary and elevating it" could be her life motto and certainly makes an honest title for her memoir, but is it really a sell line for a lifestyle show? I mean, translated, doesn't "I've always loved taking something pretty ordinary and elevating it" actually mean "Hey, loser, take your suckage and I'll tell you how to tart it up. Worked for me."

The DM article speculated that reactivating her IG account was her opening bid, in conjunction with the show, to become an influencer. Depending on the number of followers, one post can earn on the neighborhood of $600-$800K. I have no idea whether this is true or not. I wonder if she's going to try a QVC approach parading ARO products on Netflix.

Lately there has been an uptick of posters like R28 who blame anything that they don’t like on “Brits”, or “Europeans”, or “Aussies” or “the Dutch”. Failing that, blaming “foreigners” in general.
Another example of the creeping xenophobia of the DL since 5th November.

Sadly, I think this will be as much fun to hate watch as Archetypes was to hate listen. Meaning no fun at all. I couldn’t get through even one of her podcasts because they were so dull. Suspect the same with this.
She can’t even manage to give us something bad enough to enjoy. Instead it will be all heavy filters, pastels, fussy food that no one wants to eat and sanctimony.

This right here by r39.
And in a receiving line at a gala, or at a reception as the Duchess of Sussex, those world leaders and prominent cultural figures would be waiting for her attention.
Just the opposite of how it is now - her slumming for attention via some low-rent, phony, cheap-looking lifestyle show.
She had the brass ring, the role of a lifetime, risked it all, and lost it. I blame Harry more than her.

"At home with Meghan... just not HER home! Duchess rents £5m reality TV mansion a stone's throw from her own £11m Montecito mansion for new Netflix cookery show - kitted out with a £15,000 range, £600 pans and chopping boards a snip at £60 each
When Meghan Markle announced her much-anticipated Netflix cooking show, With Love, Meghan, she promised viewers an intimate 'at home with Meghan' experience.Instead the 42-year-old duchess has set up shop at a sprawling estate just two miles from the £11million home she shares with Prince Harry and their children, Archie and Lilibet."

R81, there's a strain of people here and many other places on the internet who think that a word that isn't in their own daily vocabulary is "special" and pretentious, as well as that a compound-complex sentence or really any longer sentence using multiple clauses is "a run-on." I challenge such people to diagram the preceding--if anyone is still capable of it (I would have to brush up on it myself)--and tell me if it's a run-on sentence.

My bet is that it will do very well in the beginning. With headlines about it being a big ratings success. People will be watching it out of curiosity. Whether it'll have legs or not is another issue. Remember her failed podcast got good ratings at the start. But the preview clip looks like this show is at least very well produced.

Oh, everyone, hold onto your seats because we’re witnessing culinary brilliance here: strawberries, jam, and ice cream… in a bowl! Groundbreaking stuff. Move over, Michelin chefs—this is the kind of innovation that makes history. And calling it a “children’s party treat” without the children? Pure genius! Why not call it a wedding cake while we’re at it—just skip the wedding and the cake!
But the real masterpiece? Her gift for beige. She’s turned the dullest color into an even duller art form. And let’s not overlook her pièce de résistance: transforming Prince Harry from “the royal everyone loved” into “that guy you mute because the cringe is unbearable.”
And of course, it all comes with love—from someone who doesn’t even love her own family. The irony could feed a banquet. Bravo, truly. A legend in her own mind!

Well it looks like she wasn't able to secure the trademark for ARO afterall so had to quickly come up with a new name for her show. I guess this explains the Instagram launch the other day too.
Everything about the show trailer looks harmless, but utterly boring and has been done a million times already (and done better). She continues to be stuck in the 2000s (maybe even the 90's).

Emma Weymouth, Marchioness of Bath (and woman of color) has a cooking/lifestyle show and the DM details the ways Meghan (in the trailer - just wait for the actual show) has ripped her off. Never, ever leave us Meghan, it's all too good.

All this is Meg’s campaign for stardom. You know Harry would be happy on a small farm anywhere with his children a down to earth wife and NO PAPARAZZI. She has him by the balls-probably threatens to take the kids. Wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up harming himself.

In that interview with Oprah she was so obvious in her exaggerations and lies-heartbreaking. She’s thrilled she came into the royal family at the right time with so many sick-dying-dead. This could really be a boon for her and put her in an unimagined position.

There was some irony in Harry briefly appearing as a walk-on part in the trailer since it seemed he was so resentful of royal life as he was considered an "extra" and less important than William and now he's moved country but is finds himself in the same situation... rolled out to perform briefly every now and again while the real "star" gets the limelight. Once again Harry, you're being used.

I feel like for this show to work on any level I'd have to believe she actually has an interest in homemaking and gardening. But no one anywhere including her fans believe she spends more than 20 minutes a week in the kitchen, or actually gardens f or fun do they? As a concept Meghan the domestic goddess seems about as ridiculous an idea for a show as "Princess Anne on fashion" or "Paris Hilton on the art of medieval Hungary".

r99, you 're entirely right summing-up these 2.
They exited Royal service and all of the of Would Have, Could Have, Should Have, don't get down to the brass tacks like you do.
I still agree with r39 and stand by my post at r78 as exercises in futility of "What might Have Been", but so what?
The Sussexes simply lack the stuff - ability, desire, a sense of duty to something bigger than themselves- to be working Royals, and if they had those things, they'd be that.
If viewed in the best possible light on their behalf, no human beings should be miserable. If they concluded that they could not serve as working Royals, there's nothing wrong with that. If you're heart isn't in it, then don't do it.
But man, since they left, they own all of their bad moves, words, behavior. And I'm convinced that they know they've fallen short of where they saw they would be by now with regard to their fame.
As I've written before, I See Divorced People.
I think Markle would like to rid herself of Harry. I suspect she's waiting for King Charles to die before she files. For status and financial reasons, she still wants to be King Charles' legal daughter-in-law when "The King is dead. Long live the King" is uttered.

The Royal Family has entered ignore mode. Just like they did to the former king and divorcee. In about three years, unless they leak a sex tape, no one, not even DL, is going to give a shit about them. They fail to realize they are nothing without the royal family connection. That really has to sting. Charles is about to die and George and Charlotte are teetering on becoming teens. H&M will be nothing.

I don’t watch any cooking/lifestyle shows so can anyone tell me if this is a valid criticism. Megs has long fingernails and wears nail polish while handling food, supposedly unhygienic. Her hair is hanging down in front and she touches it and goes back to handling food. Okay, the hair touching is bad but other than that, I don’t think Martha Stewart or any of those wear hairnets. Someone even said “she didn’t move her hands like a person who is familiar with food handling”. So we’re clearly at the bitch eating crackers stage. The series will be woefully dull and artificial but carping about nail polish?

Either use your own house, or use a studio. Don’t lie.
by Anonymous | reply 142 | January 3, 2025 4:19 PM |
I bet Harry put his foot down about using the house. I think the one thing he's can still find his balls for is privacy relating to home and kids. Nothing more than an observation, he's plainly an idiot. But I'm sure there's some mummy damage informing his desire to keep home and kids out of the picture. I would be curious to know what his wife thinks, privately.
by Anonymous | reply 143 | January 3, 2025 4:26 PM |
What this comes from is the foundational idiocy by Netflix: The idea that these two are so popular and compelling that the content will just create itself. So now we get an actress who married a prince pretending to be a homemaker in someone else’s home. It makes an about as much sense as creating American Riviera Orchards out of nothing to sell incredibly expensive jam. .
by Anonymous | reply 144 | January 3, 2025 4:32 PM |
She's fun to mock because she makes it so easy but I'm fascinated by her implosion when it comes to discipline. Up to and including Megxit, she showed incredible strength of will. Her career was obviously B+ success but she got there, compared to the thousands who didn't. To meet, marry and runaway with a senior member of the royal family takes some determination.
Yet since then she seems utterly foundering. Nothing gets done well, everything is half-assed, announced early and momentum lost, and then it flops.
I think she's deplorable but I can't deny her ambition and what you could call ruthlessness... so I'd love to know what happened to her mojo because she keeps failing in the same predictable pattern and hasn't really achieved anything since they ran away from home.

by Anonymous | reply 146 | January 3, 2025 4:40 PM |
Yes. A fair bit of determination. But a huge element of luck and the race card.
Harry was probably the most famous person stupid enough to marry her. Most people with fame have to have at least a tiny bit of intelligence and judgment in order to achieve their fame. Since he was massively famous by birth, those conditions didn’t apply.
She was a disaster apparently from the moment of the engagement onward. Outside of the royal family, the big wedding and perhaps the marriage itself might have been cancelled. But the royal family couldn’t be seen cancelling weddings in general, much less for a marriage to a woman of color.

There’s only so much you can achieve without talent. Marrying into the heart of the British royal family is certainly an accomplishment. Her problem was not anticipating that it would be a miserable experience for her. Everything after Megxit has been flailing. She was smart enough to go to the exploitation capital of the planet, but there’s only so much grifting one can do before one has to deliver.

[quote] I'd love to know what happened to her mojo
My guess is that she got what she wanted and doesn't really need for anything else to be a success. By snagging Harry, she got the fame and riches she'd been striving for, plus a mansion in one of the toniest addresses in the world in her home state and A-list adjacency. All the serious podcasts and philanthropy is just posing.
I do think she's loving swanning around Nancy-Meyers kitchens, elevating vegetable platters and ice cubes.
by Anonymous | reply 156 | January 3, 2025 5:02 PM |
Didn't she talk about wanting to star in a Marvel comic movie? And force Harry to accost some movie mogul and ask about his wife doing voice-over work? And she wanted to produce "Pearl" about a little girl (her) exploring the world? Then she turned to doing a podcast with A listers like Mariah Carey and Serena Williams, but that was sort of a dud because she's too stupid to make it interesting. Barbara Walters she ain't.
I think she went back to LA to become a "star" - but that hasn't worked out and she doesn't know what to do about it. So we get this nonsense.

I don't think so, R157. I think she went back to LA to live the life of a rich Californian. The projects are a side gig to justify the nanny and a sop to her espoused feminism. by Anonymous | reply 159 | January 3, 2025 5:18 PM |
No, that’s what she SHOULD do, move amongst the wealthy and entitled living a quiet, comfortable life but no, she has to prove she’s a star, the biggest feminist, the most philanthropic, crusader of the cause du jour to make up for being a dud at being a royal.

She has always been desperate for fame, money and adulation and does whatever she can do to get them with decreasing returns as her real personality shines through. She only achieved marrying Harry because she was relatively unknown. Now everyone knows her and the deals have dried up. Netflix had to push out this show and Polo to fulfill their end of the contract signed several years ago.
All that rambling to say, Meghan will be hard pressed to bring in any more money. Harry can still trade on his title to bring in some cash, like merching the surfing school. But no one wants Meghan. If they are not already hurting for cash, they will be soon. This year should be interesting.

I'm not a Meghan fan (nor am I a hater, but I do get a big kick out of the endless entertainment she provides with her "pick me!" personality). Having said that, in her defense, shooting a TV series in one's own kitchen would be a giant disruption. TV crews include a lot of people milling around, cameras everywhere and the crews would want to leave their setups overnight meaning the Royal Sussexes wouldn't be able to use their own kitchen much while the series was shooting. I'm sure she has other reasons to not have used her own kitchen (security, outdated space, etc) but logic says using a house that is empty and frequently used for shoots is the most practical way to go.

Pa packing up and leaving Mexico. My guess he’s headed for Thailand and Pattaya is more his style.
by Anonymous | reply 218 | January 6, 2025 2:03 PM |
Now we know how Pa Markle will be spending the 50k GFM money that annoying Colin Campbell woman raised for him.
Plenty of 80 year olds don't get help from their kids and are struggling. What makes Pa Markle so special he needs a GFM? And I doubt he's struggling. He has social security PLUS a pension from his union as an electrician plus has been living in low cost Mexico for a decade.
The whole family is slimy. No wonder Meghan turned out as bad as she did.
by Anonymous | reply 219 | January 6, 2025 2:09 PM |
Can you blame him, R218?
He’ll feel at home on Walking Street as so many of the residents will remind him of his daughter.

Tom Jr. said in that InTouch interview that his father spent a couple of weeks every year in Thailand while married to stoner Doria. Every Christmas Pa Markle would also send gifts of toys and kids clothes to Thailand and the Phillipines and Tom Jr. wondered if he had half siblings there.
Maybe Pa Markle is going to seek out his other children in Southeast Asia and see if they treat him better than Meghan has, lol.

Is Netflix even bothering to promote this dreck? The only promo I’ve seen is on her Instagram. I’m on Netflix all the time and have seen zero teasers. Same situation as the Polo flop.
I almost feel sorry for them at this point. Leaping into abyss after abyss.

[quote] Well if you want to talk about looks in the Royal family lets start with King, Queen and Prince. Just saying.
They are fulfilling duties designated for them by the UK constitution, which the King at least had no real choice in. Being head of state does not have a beauty requirement, and many heads of state are not particularly attractive.
Good looks, on the other hand, are still something people who electively pursue a media career often have. Since she has no particular talent and isn’t exceptional to look at, people are questioning the reasons to watch her.

The PR expert who labeled it trad wife is interesting. This is the antithesis of Markle’s purported philanthropic/change the world messaging. I don’t think she thought that far ahead. But wearing a floral dress and having tea in a gazebo is some kind of England between the wars imagery. Oops.
by Anonymous | reply 233 | January 7, 2025 12:46 PM |
Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if this is a modest hit.
Not to me. I'm already a long-time fan of the best to ever do this - Martha Stewart. Everybody else stands in her shadow.
I mean a hit to whoever is within her niche fandom. They'll tune in, possibly making for a respectable number of eyeballs for Netflix measurements.
But, actually, if that happens, that's a massive tell of how she's had to adjust (lower) her self-perceived position and place within the A, B, C and D List pecking order of California stardom.
by Anonymous | reply 234 | January 7, 2025 1:26 PM |
Her niche fandom wasn’t enough to support her podcasts. Arguably though this is visual, Megs in the flesh, and less “serious”, more aspirational. If they watch other lifestyle entertainment videos, this won’t be anything new, just with added Meg. Will that be enough?
by Anonymous | reply 235 | January 7, 2025 3:47 PM |
Meghan's fan base is miniscule and propped up by bots. The general public, even those who are not terminally online as some of us are, don't seem enamored of her and the initial interest has worn off. It's going to be a dud an Netflix knows it. Like Polo, they're giving it the least amount of fanfare and dumping it all at once in hopes the resultant memes and whatnot will be limited to a weekend or a week at most.
This whole escapade has been an embarrassment for Netflix. Technically, they still have one project in the hopper which was that book that Netflix optioned for them. But nothing ever progressed on that project and now it is too late in the contract to proceed. Netflix probably wants this whole terrible decision to fade away quietly.
by Anonymous | reply 236 | January 7, 2025 4:18 PM |
So, those of you who are familiar with this business and the contract with Netflix - how much was the contract for? How much money did the duo actually receive?
I assume they did not get the full amount up front, but did they get paid for presenting output, no matter how dreadful or how little the public response is?
How much money did Netflix lose on this whole deal?
by Anonymous | reply 237 | January 7, 2025 6:56 PM |
R237, none of that information is public as far as I know. Netflix itself has never said anything about the financial terms of the contract. When Harry and Meghan first announced the deal, they said it could be worth “up to” some mega-millions amount. That doesn’t mean anything by itself.
by Anonymous | reply 238 | January 7, 2025 7:07 PM |
Is it being released all at once?
by Anonymous | reply 239 | January 7, 2025 7:09 PM |
A lot of people will hate-watch (at least at first), just to see how awful she is.
by Anonymous | reply 240 | January 7, 2025 7:17 PM |
Harry and Meghan's PR claimed the contract amount was $100 million, which might be true since streamers were throwing cash at everyone at the time. But it was a production deal, which meant that production costs came out of that pie and they only received a certain amount in pay if they reached various benchmarks. They probably made a decent amount of cash for the fauxmentary but not on anything else that followed.
It will be interesting to see how cleanly they part ways. Spotify had to pay up to get rid of them and arrangement was so sour Spotify openly called them grifters. Netflix has probably been pretty careful behind the scenes with fulfilling their end of the contract to ensure Meghan and Harry do not try any shenanigans. But this is Harry and Meghan, so I would not put it past them to pull their usual stunts when parting ways. They've already comments distancing themselves from these projects and acting as if they were powerless with the choices made.

She has a horribly unpleasant voice. I watched clips of that elephant documentary she narrated a few years ago and god, it was like nails on a chalkboard complete with vocal fry. If I hadn't known who was narrating that doc, I would've thought "how the hell did this woman get a narration job?" It wouldn't have made any sense to me at all.

R233, my mixed race grandmother was obsessed with being as white and English as possible and was also obsessive about having a gazebo in her backyard, despite living in the worst socio-economic area of our city!
She spent every spare cent on Royal Doulton and magazine specials about the late Queen.
The interwar years were when she was at her happiest.
Now I know why the gazebo was such a big deal.

by Anonymous | reply 253 | January 8, 2025 9:17 AM |
Oh, hell, I blame Harry almost totally for their circumstances.
It's a given, almost too obvious to note, that Markle was on the make when she met Harry. So what? There's not one damn thing wrong with that. I don't join in with her detractors on negatively judging her climbing. Why single her out for that?
Nothing succeeds like success. She got her man. She got a position in one of the wealthiest, most elite, families of Earth (whether or not they should be, or monarchy should exist. is a different discussion).
And then....they both blew it.
by Anonymous | reply 254 | January 8, 2025 12:56 PM |
I meant to add.
I think they should have left Royal service if their lives were so miserable. Who wants to get up every day in dread?
It's the way they stupidly, self-servingly, blabbingly left and its aftermath that the Sussexes totally own.
And I'm convinced it's cost them as a celebrity couple, which is what they now amount to.
by Anonymous | reply 255 | January 8, 2025 1:01 PM |
R251, she was genuinely kind, but ashamed of our non-English roots. She avoided the sun to look whiter. Some of us are even darker than she was, which concerned her. She thought white skin, blue eyes and blond hair was the most desirable way to look to avoid suffering racism. She and my uncles were routinely called the N word on at least two continents.
by Anonymous | reply 256 | January 8, 2025 1:05 PM |
I don't feel bad for either one of them as they are both likely sociopaths. Their actions keep getting framed as bad decision making. I think it goes deeper than impulsivity or judgment. People with any level of empathy would not have used Uvalde for content, nor abused their elderly family members, nor have sent their proxies to heap online abuse on their ill relatives.
They are sick and twisted and even people who don't follow this saga very closely have picked up on it. Meghan cannot even come close to an approximation of acting human for the cameras. Shiver to think what their children and pets go through around when there is no one else around.

It can take a long time to process these things. They probably needed private time to grieve.

Brilliant woman but her voice did bother me - sort of Valley Girlish? Cutesy? I don't know how to explain it but it was a chore for me, though I admired her knowledge, like of fashion and H'wood and such, and her insight into what goes on in Meghan's mind (a very scary place).
