Armie Hammer: 'I'm finally turning down roles again!'
Armie Hammer says his career is picking up after three years in industry exile following sexual assault allegations.
The worm is turning, it takes time,” he told Christina Pazsitzy and Tom Segura on the most recent episode of their podcast “Your Mom’s House.” “It’s slow, but generally now the conversation when my name comes up with people in the industry is, ‘Man, that guy got fucked.’ And that feels really good. It’s really encouraging.” In fact, so busy is Hammer he’s “turning jobs down,” he said. “My dance card’s getting pretty full. That first job that I turned down after four years of this shit, I mean, it was the best feeling I’ve ever had.”

Good. This will also chap the asses of all the Hammer haters on DL, so this is a win-win.

by Anonymousreply 1January 2, 2025 4:15 PM

Yeah, but offers from Sean Cody and Randy Blue don't count as "acting" offers, do they?

by Anonymousreply 2January 2, 2025 4:17 PM

Being a podcaster is more unseemly than being a cannibal.

by Anonymousreply 3January 2, 2025 4:27 PM

Really, R3? Tell that to Julia-Louis Dreyfus and every other star out there with a podcast.

by Anonymousreply 4January 2, 2025 4:29 PM

r3 That used to be the case a decade or so ago, but nearly everyone has a podcast these days. And some are making serious bank from the ads, too.

by Anonymousreply 5January 2, 2025 4:29 PM

*Ads and/or memberships clubs. You'd be surprised what people are willing to pay on a monthly basis for bonus episodes of a genuinely good history podcast.

by Anonymousreply 6January 2, 2025 4:32 PM

Sean Hayes and Bateman were making a ton of money off their podcast.

by Anonymousreply 7January 2, 2025 4:35 PM

I see he's learned humility through his ordeal.

by Anonymousreply 8January 2, 2025 4:36 PM

My issue with him have never been his fantasies, but the dog thing. I can't get past that.

by Anonymousreply 9January 2, 2025 4:39 PM

Who?

by Anonymousreply 10January 2, 2025 4:40 PM

Actually, R8, he's expressed a fair amount of contrition, to Piers Morgan and Bill Maher, etc., but you seem to suggest he has no claim to a certain amount of righteous anger over it all--probably because you don't like him. Whatever.

by Anonymousreply 11January 2, 2025 4:41 PM
but you seem to suggest he has no claim to a certain amount of righteous anger over it all--probably because you don't like him.

Why don't you let the attendant check all that baggage for you? It seems to be weighing you down.

by Anonymousreply 12January 2, 2025 4:46 PM

Oh, my sides, R12--sure, hunty. Whatever you say.

by Anonymousreply 13January 2, 2025 4:48 PM

Arnie was phenomenal in CMBYN. He deserves redemption.

by Anonymousreply 14January 2, 2025 5:05 PM

That’s a boy who loves to eat…. Food not women. He didn’t mean it that way!

by Anonymousreply 15January 2, 2025 5:42 PM

I’m eager to see him onscreen again. He’s good.

by Anonymousreply 16January 2, 2025 5:53 PM

by Anonymousreply 17January 2, 2025 5:56 PM

What dog thing, r9?

by Anonymousreply 18January 2, 2025 6:39 PM

Nobody wanted to see Arnie Hammer even before the "scandal". He's one of those people that Hollywood tried their damnedest to make happen and just didn't.

by Anonymousreply 19January 2, 2025 7:08 PM

Good - glad he's back

by Anonymousreply 20January 2, 2025 7:12 PM

r12 That was a weird try - and fail - on your part

by Anonymousreply 21January 2, 2025 7:14 PM

Sure, Jan r19. That was why, right before this fake scandal broke, he was working regularly in movies--because no one wanted to see him.

by Anonymousreply 25January 2, 2025 10:56 PM

Very au courant, R24--Buzzfeed "entered the chat" in 2017, when that came out.

by Anonymousreply 26January 2, 2025 11:00 PM

Turning down jobs, my ass. He’s broke. He should not be taking any job.

by Anonymousreply 27January 2, 2025 11:30 PM

Good, maybe we will see less of Jon Hamm.

by Anonymousreply 28January 2, 2025 11:31 PM

R27, he's already making 2 movies. And you seem to be a mess of contradictions. Why should he not take any job, dear--especially if he's broke?

by Anonymousreply 29January 2, 2025 11:36 PM

He's still so sexy.

by Anonymousreply 30January 3, 2025 1:26 AM

Gorgeous - I do hope he regains some success.

by Anonymousreply 31January 3, 2025 2:33 AM

He deserves a 2nd chance.

by Anonymousreply 32January 3, 2025 3:01 AM

So he's getting so many jobs he's turning them down and yet still whining about selling his car and his tiny apartment?

by Anonymousreply 33January 3, 2025 3:04 AM

Roels in snuff films?

by Anonymousreply 34January 3, 2025 3:42 AM

Roles in snuff films?

by Anonymousreply 35January 3, 2025 3:42 AM

He was also great in “Sorry to Bother You.” But I felt he was pretty much playing himself in that movie, which is why it was one of his best performances.

by Anonymousreply 36January 3, 2025 3:47 AM

I really missed his wooden acting. Where can I miss these new films?

by Anonymousreply 37January 3, 2025 7:34 AM

I watched Wounds yesterday, with Armie and Dakota Johnson. Terrible film. Armie's acting was mid, but by God did he look good, all sweaty and boozey.

by Anonymousreply 38January 3, 2025 8:02 AM

R38 that’s ironic because the film went straight to Hulu.

I agree that Sorry to Bother You was his best performance, and that he was playing himself. He was terrifying.

Although it’s funny because Hammer said that in his rehabilitation therapy he told his therapist he was highly neurotic about looking well in public and his therapist made him go to McDonalds in his pajama pants and how liberating it was for him.

But photos like above show that Hammer was already comfortable going out in public looking sloppy.

by Anonymousreply 41January 3, 2025 12:42 PM

That’s not a photo of a dog bite. Such nice, straight lines. Have you ever seen a dog bite? The dog was given to another family when the Hammers went to the Cayman’s. The Hammer case should be used to illustrate how gullible people will buy anything…especially if it’s negative. Meanwhile Effie posts his daughter’s picture with the comment she hopes her head gets bashed in. But he’s the villain here.

by Anonymousreply 42January 3, 2025 3:45 PM

Well maybe Armie has learned his lesson and won’t rape crazy chicks in the future.

by Anonymousreply 43January 3, 2025 3:52 PM

He lies about anything because - outside of work related events - he dressed like a beach bum. He always connected that to living in the Caymans as a kid.

While a step up from cargo shorts and flip flops, at the end of the long press tour for "Call Me By Your Name" he began wearing tracksuits which pissed off Timothee Chalamet fans because they felt Hammer was being petulant because of the praise Chalamet was receiving.

Yes, R48, Hammer should have worn some gender-fluid red chiffon backless number like that attention-seeking red carpet whore Chalamet.

by Anonymousreply 50January 5, 2025 2:40 AM

r48 It was petulance over him not getting an Oscar nom - the first tracksuit appeared the day after nominations were announced. But of course the Chalamet fangirls would try to pretend Timmy was at the centre of it.

by Anonymousreply 55January 5, 2025 12:26 PM

R48 people misunderstand the track suit

It wasn’t the track suit which was important, it was the color, blood-red

When The Lone Ranger premiered to some of the worst pre-release buzz in recent times, he wore blood-red to the premiere

People wear red when they’re angry.

by Anonymousreply 56January 7, 2025 11:53 AM

But as far as going out in public, here he is on Kimmel wearing a spacesuit costume with sandals and painted toenails. He did not have a problem going out in public looking unkempt.

However he is being honest about one part of it, and that is that he did not like being TOLD to put on a clean shirt or brush his hair. People with ADHD have executive function deficits, and being constantly corrected for relatively minor social faux-pas has a snowballing effect. When he mentioned this on the podcast, you could hear the anger in his voice. And it was directed at his ex-wife.

by Anonymousreply 62January 7, 2025 12:41 PM

by Anonymousreply 75January 7, 2025 2:12 PM

The man is not bright and it shows in his choice of language in OP's quote.

Other than that I don't care, except the lack of intelligence also shows in his performances.

He's just not much good at it. His best performance, for fuck's sake, was in the bad "Mad from Uncle" because at least he had someone to play off of, unlike in the phony queer movie with the other non-talent.

by Anonymousreply 76January 7, 2025 2:16 PM

…but it’s a very big portrait. Almost life-sized.

So Hammer when confronted with feelings of inferiority (a critical turkey, an Oscar snub) he makes this reference (which VERY few people would get) to his family’s wealth.

Also Dr. Pozzi was a noted lothario and Hammer has already said he enjoyed subverting his PR friendly image.

It doesn't matter, really, what's being offered to him. What matters is that he has the right to work and not be blackballed over absolutely nothing that's anyone else's business. He committed no crimes and was completely set up.

by Anonymousreply 86January 7, 2025 7:10 PM

r86 Nobody has a "right" to a career in Hollywood. And it's absolutely everyone else's business when that career relies on people buying tickets to movies he's in.

Even if everything went the way he claims and everything was fully consensual, he'd still be where he is now because he showed incredibly poor judgement in saying the stuff he did on his own social media accounts. And no, he wasn't set up, he chose to send that shit from his main IG DMs. He didn't even use his private account, much less Snapchat. Someone that stupid doesn't deserve a career. On top of which he wasn't a draw, and he wasn't talented.

Speaking of his private account, even after all this was exposed he was posting on there that he was faking drug tests so he could still see his kids while still getting high. That's the level of absolute stupidity we're dealing with here - that he learned absolutely nothing.

by Anonymousreply 87January 7, 2025 8:47 PM

And none of that, R87, is your fucking business, Gladys Kravitz. But since you insist on banging on about it at great length, clearly you feel very invested.

Yes, everybody does have a right to work and not be blackballed on bogus charges. He was completely played by a woman who pretended great injury was done to her--all for money. The wife also used him for her own purposes.

His poor judgment is also none of your fucking business. Yes, people have the right not to buy tickets to his movies. Yes, companies have the right not to cast him. But he absolutely has the right to defend himself, and whatever work he gets, GOOD. And you can sit on your ass at home and not see any of his movies. That's your right.

by Anonymousreply 88January 7, 2025 9:06 PM

They weren't bogus charges though. He typed and sent those messages. He took those drugs. All choices he made himself.

And what money did Effie make, exactly?

by Anonymousreply 89January 7, 2025 9:40 PM

There was no criminality in any of those messages, R89. And the wife made out in the divorce proceedings. Again, no criminality. No criminal charges.

by Anonymousreply 90January 7, 2025 9:43 PM

He also didn't send those messages for everyone in the world to see, either--another way he was set up. Of course, ultimately, that's partly on him.

by Anonymousreply 91January 7, 2025 9:58 PM

r90 Except you said
He was completely played by a woman who pretended great injury was done to her--all for money

So you were referring to Effie making money.

And it doesn't matter if there was criminality or not. The poor judgement is not something studios want in their actors. They don't want their marketing campaigns being overrun by gossip about DMs because some actor was too dumb to use Snapchat. Hell, he could've at least deleted the messages from his side of the conversation, but didn't even do that. This was all his own fault. So now he's making shitty movies with a director who makes movies to serve as a tax write-off.

by Anonymousreply 92January 7, 2025 10:45 PM

No, R92, I meant the girlfriend, who sold her story and the tweets to every media outlet. Also, the girlfriend colluded with the ex-wife because she was fanagling a large divorce settlement. Now, that's a set-up.

But apart from all that...
And it doesn't matter if there was criminality or not.

Well, it matters in a court of law, but in the court of media opinion and the "cancelled" trend of that moment, he was reckless and stupid. But time has proven no one really cares that much anymore (or at least cares as much as you), so yes, he's working again. And he can move on to better stuff.

by Anonymousreply 93January 7, 2025 10:53 PM

I would still let him wreck my hole.

Yeah I know, I'm awful. You don't have to tell me.

by Anonymousreply 94January 7, 2025 11:06 PM

Why is that awful, R94? Don't let the likes of Gladys Kravitz at R92 shame you.

by Anonymousreply 95January 7, 2025 11:12 PM

r93 You've made up that bullshit story about the ex-wife being behind all this in every thread and never been able to provide a scrap of evidence to back it up. And Effie didn't sell any tweets, she posted them on her own social media for free.

And "better stuff" like doing a Uwe Boll movie? Sure, the new Eric Roberts, what a move up.

by Anonymousreply 96January 8, 2025 12:08 AM

OP- I bet he's NOT turning down beautiful big cocks to SUCK TO COMPLETION.

by Anonymousreply 97January 8, 2025 12:10 AM

R96, I've only read that about the wife and girlfriend. I have never posted it before. Maybe it's bullshit. And I said the girlfriend sold her story and tweets everywhere. The wife already had it in the bag in the divorce settlement. And what's with calling the ex-wife by first name? That's such a sleazy form of familiarity you're not entitled to, and it shows your allegiance to someone you don't even know.

by Anonymousreply 98January 8, 2025 12:13 AM

He should just whore. Sell both holes. He's still pretty enough for that!

by Anonymousreply 99January 8, 2025 12:13 AM

r98 Wow, you're actually an idiot, aren't you? Effie wasn't the wife. Everyone calls her Effie because we can't be bothered to remember how to spell her surname. It's hilarious to see you flail around once you've been called on your bullshit though. You don't even know who's who and yet you're pretending to have insider info. Stop embarrassing yourself.

by Anonymousreply 100January 8, 2025 12:57 AM

What Hollywood celebrity isn’t damaged goods?

by Anonymousreply 101January 8, 2025 1:53 AM

by Anonymousreply 104January 8, 2025 2:23 AM

R100, YOU call her Effie as if you know her. I never claimed "insider information," you dumb cunt. I know he didn't commit any crimes, andf that both his ex-wife and his girlfriend got as much as they could get out of him. And now he's slowly crawling back, and that chaps your ass. What could be funnier than that?

by Anonymousreply 105January 8, 2025 3:20 AM

Are we sure he said "roles" and not "rolls"?

by Anonymousreply 109January 8, 2025 5:17 AM

R109, I get it: you hate him for some unfathomable reason. But while you're mocking him and his efforts to have a career again, you might want to acknowledge the ex-wife herself is completely undistinguished and was happy to be Mrs. Armie Hammer and everything that brought to her when the going was good.

Piggybacking on what r92 said

Hammer said on his podcast that he didn’t like his movie star image, so he purposely set out to undermine it with “careless” behavior

He essentially admitted to sabotaging all the movies he had filmed and was signing up to film

You will never understand Armie Hammer until you understand that he did not like this person. ⬇️ This person was just as fake as the “cannibal”, a persona he created to shock people (I don’t believe he actually ate anyone or even would eat anybody if given the opportunity.)

So what is the real Hammer? Look at the tattoos

[italic]The combination of the aleph and scorpion tattoos could reflect a complex internal duality within Armie Hammer. The aleph, which is the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet, often symbolizes beginnings, unity, and infinite potential. In contrast, the scorpion symbolizes danger, dominance, and destruction. Together, these tattoos could represent his self-perception of being a figure caught between two extremes—on one hand, someone capable of reinvention or potential redemption (aleph), and on the other, someone fully aware and perhaps even proud of his darker, more dangerous tendencies (scorpion).[/italic]

[italic]This juxtaposition suggests that Hammer might see himself as embodying both creative and destructive forces. The aleph could signify a desire for new beginnings or control over his narrative, while the scorpion emphasizes the darker, primal urges that have been exposed through his behavior. Rather than signaling remorse or a desire to change, this pairing of symbols might indicate that Hammer sees both sides—light and dark—as integral to his identity. It could also suggest a fascination with duality and power, acknowledging both his potential for transformation and his inherent danger.[/italic]

Why would anyone want to hire someone for a job who is so self destructive and tries to burn everything down like that though?

That would be a very poor choice, in my opinion. I wouldn't want to work for a boss who would put my hard work and time at risk because of someone like that.

He should write, direct, and finance his own stuff. Then he can be as flagrantly self destructive as he wants.

R123 they won’t.

Armie has become the proverbial “scorpion on the frog’s back.” He is not castable because people don’t think he will change his destructive nature. Claiming the scorpion as his own, with its tail pointing toward his groin, is remarkably self-aware of him.

He's already being cast again, R125.

Prove it's wrong, R128.

If he gets a second chance so should Kevin Spacey. Spacey has been through two criminal trials and two lawsuits on two continents and still hasn't been found guilty or liable of anything

by Anonymousreply 130January 8, 2025 1:55 PM

Except in the case of Spacey, R130, I know three actors, including a relative, who was either approached or groped by Spacey. It's true he wasn't convicted, but he's still guilty of being a sex pest over and over.

There were articles in tabloids about his ex-wife colluding with Efrosina Angelova in an attempt to take Armie down and obtain full custody of their children. Effie herself has posted screenshots of the text messages from Elizabeth Chambers more than once. Look it up!

by Anonymousreply 132January 8, 2025 2:08 PM

Well maybe stupid shouldn’t have married and had affairs with crazy chicks!

by Anonymousreply 133January 8, 2025 2:14 PM

R131, it's not illegal for a gay man to "approach" someone idiot.

by Anonymousreply 134January 8, 2025 3:32 PM

r126 That's not Effie.

r132 No there weren't. There were articles about Chambers contacting Effie for information about the affair, and encouraging her to speak out and get a lawyer. But that was all well after Effie posted the screenshots. If the articles you claim existed actually did you would've linked to them yourself.

Sorry, I don’t do links. Just google “Elizabeth chambers Effie” and scroll down. The articles are there. You’re welcome.
